When a print can boil down to life or death I believe they should do far better than guess what a print looks like, that just sounds ridiculous.
That "guess" is only in the initial search faze for a print. Once a similar print is found in the system, multiple experts have to review and compare the print before it can be determined to be a match.
Ummm....pre-DNA..?

The moral of the last story, kids, is clear + should be learnt from to ensure your safety so you don't suffer the same fate as the victim did here.
The lesson is really quite simple + there's absolutely no excuse for not doing what you're told.
So, when all your mates are off down the pub, you, too, are off down the pub, without exception!
We've all seen what can happen, + what could so easily have been avoided if only he'd done as he was told. Instead of being safely down the pub with all his mates, he's back at home getting a ski-pole through his head.
Right then, you've been told, my work is done..............
What?!?!?! You're sick!

The majority of prostitution is NOT A CHOICE! Horrible circumstances often lead to people that lifestyle. Their lives are important as well
God bless our law enforcement.
Sure, when they do what they're SUPPOSED to do. I don't think people are saying that in the wake of cops abusing their authority. Check out the cop who was fired for pepper spraying, among other things, a black officer in the army.
You are right, but if they would stop being so corrupt, they ruin so many peoples lives, there needs to be some kind of reform, change in practices there are tens of thousands of innocent people in jail, and so many people get brutalized by them or their future damaged because of the police abuse. the country with ore people in jail is not China is the US.
How come god didn't just do the detective work on his own? Was he really that busy?

Robert Plant sings the song stairway to heaven. AC/DC Sings Highway to hell. Since a highway can handle much more than a stairway, it worries me where I might be going some day.
Just make your choice. lol

Because you need to defund the police.
“D. All Of The Above”
Defund the police 🚨 yeah what could go wrong 👮 🚨 👮 🚨
Because at the time it was experimental. How on earth could huge police labs hold GOLD enough for all the fingerprints. Lol. It doesn't matter as not only was THAT an old case as of the production of this video this video is about 30+ years old. Now they use SUPER GLUE to lift latent prints so it's all moot
Imagine that ugly monster coming at u... beyond evil
The computers 🖥 💻 back then 🤣 windows 2.0 haha
The auto match system is still dependant on human matching and enhancement of the prints. Human error has NOT BEEN ELIMINATED in these cases.
You know I thought so too as I was watching. A good defense lawyer might be able to argue that.
Hollywood went south to San Diego
If someone has to draw the print then you can't be %100 sure about it
if you are going to do a re-enactment; how about dropping the 'dumb cop chewing gum' routine! There is enough trouble trying to respect these guys we pay taxes to support and they behave like goofs!
How about watching something touchy feely from the last few years that would suit your taste. These re-enactments are repeats of series from manyn many years ago. All you need to do is listen and you will hear. Look. And you shall see comouters you have never seen. Etc.
Just watch something else if you do not want to watch. That is the usual adult thing to do.

Maybe they'd get more respect if they weren't white supremacists. The US is a country of all races. Of course there are a few that are not.
Fun fact, finger prints were first used in prisons to identify prisoners after two prisoners who looked identical and had the same name were both in the same prison and the wrong one got released.
Not likely, since identical twins have identical fingerprints.

Fingerprints, a great contribution from science.
DNA is the great contribution.

Funny watching theses old crime documentarys and them going on about fingerprints. It's all DNA now baby!
Oh dear widows open no curtains
"Hazard a guess" on the fingerprint this is how inocent people get f up
Yeah that was worrying for sure
Afis needs a 5x expanded picture of the print with any gaps drawn in by hand
Seems like that could implicate anyone the police want to in certain cases
Fingerprinting works for two reasons, first no two people share print patterns, and second a person's fingerprints
remain unchanged throughout life.
This is false, people can and do have similar fingerprints. I don’t know if they can change, but there was a case where a guy was arrested because of a fingerprint match but had nothing to do with the crime. The crime happened in Spain where he had never even been before.
Fingerprints can even distinguish between identical twins (DNA generally cannot).
Fingerprints can change. Ask anybody who does finger strips with diabetes
