This is what I want to do with my degree. This is beautiful work that so many people often don't appreciate. I love the work and would love to see more of what you do.
At 11.50 he puts his gear down and does the cleaning up himself. That's a great cinematographer right there. We need to do things ourselves at times. Creativity has no limits. Cheers bro.
I think you capture the sheer tedium of weddings quite nicely. Average looking people in average looking venues with unhelpful, unflattering mixed lighting requires above average imagination and skill to make it look like an interesting film. You did a good job.
I loved watching this, and was impressed (surprised) by how much time you had to shoot scenery/details. How many hours are typically included in wedding cover, and do you usually arrive well before you start shooting prep to have this much extra time? Just wondering how I can make my mornings look a bit more like this...
I would love more information on you shooting the footage, It was watching you at work, which is great but discussing camera setting and lens will be helpful.
Good stuff--thanks for sharing. Any aversion to using CAMERA-MOUNTED LED lights? Amazon sells L brackets so both the light and external mic could sit on the cameras' hot shoe mounts. Then you'd always have nice white front lighting from every camera angle.
Hi Kraig, if you're shoting at 24fps then your shutter speed should be 1/50,is there an instance that you increase it like 1/250 to properly expose the shot? Thank you
Great video! What is your delivery method for customers? Still using Disks or Digital like usb drives. And how many minutes i should edit making a videoclip? 5, 10 or 15?
thanks very interesting - how long does it take to balance a Glidecam and if you know what camera and lens can a lot of the adjustments be done before transit.
i HATE to the fly those things !! i got it and i tried to fly few times i NEVER used it once for work >> cant wait to get the one handed gamble thingy ^^
+reanofilms Thank you! If you liked this, you should really check out our series "Shooting the Bride" which you can find here: bit.ly/1Uq06fp. This BTS video is simply a taste of what you'd get with a full STB episode. Thanks!
Love the BTS stuff you are doing!! would really like to see a detailed scene where you go through with event audio person about what outputs they have on there mixer and then how you go about connecting to field recorder, leveling the signal to prevent peaking, and maybe other ways you record ambient sound at reception ie. placement of field recorders. Also, just as suggestion for filimng BTS, may want to consider using simple setup of GoPro on a 3 axis gimbal.... would be heaps smoother, especially when walking with you, and I think simpler allround
This is what i wanted to ask too. I would like to know too if You have shooted all The wedding In Raw with magic lanterne ? How did You do with The memory card? Even with some big memory card it sur difficult to shoot à wedding. did you transfer The Raw rushes to your mac book on the place of wedding in order to recover space on your memory cards ???
You do better and better job.And thank you for this video, it is a good good information for real time working. Most people just posted the only best part amd make the video exciting. however in the real situation it is not like that. I just started shooting weding and some events. I was so stressful because I did not know what i was doing or going to do next. Did i get all of the good footage? Is the way people like this good enough? ect...i have no helper I have noone in my area that i can ask about shooting. thanks again for this video i whatch it many many times.
Thank you for the Behind the Scenes Footage, It's very interesting to see how it is done in other places. But I'm curios about one thing, why do you use external mic, if you are not actually using the sound from those scenes? If it's for syncing, why don’t you use the camera's onboard mic, isn’t it enough?
+Ilan Amsalem What makes you think that I'm not using the audio from those scenes? The Rode Video Mic Pro gives a much sound quality and different pickup pattern than the on-board microphone so I don't want to use the onboard microphone.
+Eoin Healy What redundancy are you referencing? The audio recorded by the microphone is going right into the camera's video clip. A little confused as to what you mean.
Redundancy was meant in the context of where a primary audio source is available (speeches, ceremony). Having the shotgun will be a much better backup in the event the primary source fails (although not ideal). We actually had to fall back to the Rode during one of our speeches after the handheld mic source failed mid point. But I agree they are also much better than in-camera mic for locations when the subjects aren't yet mic'd up (bridal prep) or for collecting b-roll sound.
Hey man, i'm going to start making some wedding/events videos, and I wanted to know if you or anyone could give some tips on filming the whole thing with just one camera, because I see you use like 3 cameras when you're alone. Tips? Thanks :D Great job by the way, amazing videos.
+joaoaoj .gwind Coming from another wedding videographer, best tip for shooting with one camera is don't. Too easy to miss things. If you have to though, make sure you communicate super effectively so you know where to be and when, where to stand. Always be rolling and always have enough SD cards and batteries.
new follower her :D great stuff. im new to wedding and i want to learn more. may i know what's the name of the slider and the tripod? thanks a lot hope to see more
[ Origin of the wedding cake ] The cake is an important symbol of marriage. Its presence is part of a tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. At that time, it was customary for guests to break a cake or a loaf of bread on the head of the bride and groom as a token of happiness and fertility. The guests had to stack small cakes to form an attractive tower. The higher the structure was, the happier the wedding would be!

Noticed a hiss in the background of the audio from the bts camera. My rode's do the same thing. I can eliminate it in post but it sucks having to mute the footage

Great job on this bts video. What I took from it is to get shots that just "make sense ." Thanks for sharing.
I think you capture the sheer tedium of weddings quite nicely. Average looking people in average looking venues with unhelpful, unflattering mixed lighting requires above average imagination and skill to make it look like an interesting film. You did a good job.
Thank you for a very informative video that doesn't just tell you or show the shot. Seeing it done is very helpful!

Hi Kraig, if you're shoting at 24fps then your shutter speed should be 1/50,is there an instance that you increase it like 1/250 to properly expose the shot? Thank you
After capturing all that footage do the couple get all the footage of just the 5 minute video, or do they get a longer version of the ceremony?
What are your camera settings? Do you have any tips for focusing when filming?
Great video!
What is your delivery method for customers? Still using Disks or Digital like usb drives.

thanks very interesting - how long does it take to balance a Glidecam and if you know what camera and lens can a lot of the adjustments be done before transit.
