You cried because you know exactly how this feels. Panic attacks are the physical manifestation of Hell itself. It is fear, dread, hate, guilt and every negative emotion balled together causing our physical and mental state to reject our perceived reality. It is worse than death. Death would be final and absolute. Panic is taunting the possibility of death, but only enough to make you want it and fear it at the same time. I believe it's been a part of the human condition since our inception as a race. I can make all these bold statements because I have suffered from them for decades. I have learned to control them, most of the time. But when they come on, there is no stopping them. They have to simply run their course, or drink egregious amounts of alcohol to mitigate them. The former is a much better option, but the latter is an ironic quick fix that brings it on even worse.

Depends on state, locality, and departmental rules. In Virginia, we're allowed to Conceal Carry, WITH APPROVAL from our chief. After admitting to having an affair with the domestic violence victim he got fired. This, "man" cost the taxpayers of Sevierville $250,000.
There is a comment somewhere explaining the situation. Apparently EMT guy was a vet. The officer in the video was discharged from 2 different departments for being mentally unfit. He managed to get the current job through multiple applications to several law enforcement agencies. Dunnu if that is legit or not, but kind of makes sense. The officer, even before the panic attack is literally flagging the back of the EMTs head, had no control of his emotions or the situation. The EMT guys were giving commands after the shots fired, and being left there unarmed.
That was heartbreaking to watch 😢 I couldn't stop crying 😢 I've been through it and it's the worst feeling ever. Good thing the EMT guys knew what to do. Excellent job the officer was able to get past it and continue the arrest 😁

The unarmed male with a camera that was indiscriminately fired upon was charged with "assault" for causing the panic attack of the officer, but a grand jury refused to indict. I realize that many police encounters are good and decent, but this officer, his lying on the application, and his department's lax hiring process allowed this to happen, placing many innocent lives at risk during this encounter. Oh yeah, everything switches in your body and mind that you're dying, the body goes into save your life mode, which is good, it shows it works as intended, but it's a false alarm and can completely shut you down, the most immense sense of doom rolls over you, like if you saw a meteor falling right at you, it's fucked, and it can happen in any calm situation out of nowhere too even when you are feeling good and calm.
I've seen men lose it in Vietnam just like this cop ,his fight or flight response kicked in & he became overwhelmed by stress ,the fact he didn't fire his weapon shows this is a good man at heart .
If that's your response to a stressful situation you definitely don't need a job with a gun lol he wasn't even paying attention to where he was aiming that thing the whole time. He could've killed one of those EMS workers. Hopefully he's not a cop anymore
a typical panic attack lasts up to 5 mins though, the worse ones are the ones that last for more than 10. Youre saying you dont know how you will react, so now that he found out that cant happen, it may be a warning to not continue it, sure this time worked out, but in another situation the guy actually have a gun, a few seconds its all he will need. EMT was also the one that actually calmed him down, he would probably spiral out of control if he was alone.
@Ravenous Crow I didn't say he was to be shamed or should be ashamed. It sucks for him this happened but in this state of mind you are clearly not capable to rational and quick desicions that these people have to make. My brother is a cop and I have suffered (close to) panic attacks myself in the past where I needed all my mental capacity to get myself in check and I know I would not be able to do much else in such situation. I don't have to save face. I am not chinese..People make mistakes and shit happens. If you take responsability for it and man up to the truth there is nothing to be ashamed of, nobody is perfect. For me it is comon sense that for example you get too emotional involved with victims /crooks. (sorrow or anger) you should not be a cop.(that is why I am not) Just like if you suffer panic attacks in stressfull situations for whatever reason you should not be a cop and/or carry guns around. A lot can happen in 2 min in these situations. I don't appreciate you playing it on the man btw. While all we have is a difference of opinion. I didn't affront anyone I simply stated my opinion. So why would you try to diss me like that?
Now I am on a roll anyhow one last thing. Praising all cops how they sacriffice their safety in order to protect us slackers sitting behind our pc's isn't that realistic either. Most cops if not all (including my brother)are cops because they would get bored with an office job. They are thrill seekers. Their sence of justice is what divides them into being a good or a bad cop. They aren't saints! Ofcourse they should be respected for what they do if done right but don't "americanise" it.
I'm going to the police academy cause I can deal with stress and want to help people, don't really wanna be a thrill seeker. And the rest of it yeah that's about right.
It depends on the area. Largest majority of police agencies in the USA don't pick average joes. There's a lot that require experience, some require degrees, some require incredibly extensive tests before even going through the academy, there's an incredibly small amount that will actually hire anyone that just looks clean annd has a decent record. Just so happens, we see a lot of the bad ones because they make the biggest problems. Our police are not entirely federally regulated, and shouldn't be.

Depends on state, locality, and departmental rules. In Virginia, we're allowed to Conceal Carry, WITH APPROVAL from our chief. However, I will say I would do the same thing that they did, and just take the discipline. I'd rather be yelled at then have an officer who I can see is in a medical situation carrying a gun pointing it.
In this situation if he has a license to carry weapons, I think it was acceptable if not necessary
If someone is shooting at you your allowed to do whatever you need to defend your life and others.

This officer was forced to resign after the incident. He was also fired from Johnson County PD a few years before this incident after repeated unsafe handling of firearms incidents, and left that off his resume when applying to Sevier Co. PD. Not to mention the unarmed man spent 42 days in jail awaiting a trial for an absurd crime that he didn't commit.

(sorrow or anger) you should not be a cop.(that is why I am not)
Just like if you suffer panic attacks in stressfull situations for whatever reason you should not be a cop and/or carry guns around.
Wondering why that Paramedic isn't a cop
ABCD ABCD Shows you know nothing.
ABCD ABCD he fucked up? Its a fucking panic attack. It can happen to anyone any fucking time. Hes a human like any other officer out there. You got guns pointed at you, who wouldnt be scared
I thought he was one until I looked at his jacket.
Because he's a paramedic
YUP, panic attacks are very scary.
My brother is a police officer and this BREAKS MY HEART! 😢
Jeez. I could feel the cops anxiety through his voice and his breaths.. poor guy, panic attacks are no joke. They're hell..
Nope! It is not! Former Marine and Deputy Sheriff! They are real! Everybody handles it different! I hope he is good to go today!
I thought I was having a heart attack or something. Drove 130kmph down the freeman home and woke up my dad. He sat calmly on my bed nodding until I calmed down and realised it was a mental episode.
@@truepatriot3870 Panic attacks are no excuse for firing a weapon at someone.
@@angelol2877 he didn’t shoot anyone tho 🤔
@@truepatriot3870 Thank you for your service:)

Ikr! But it mostly feels like your going to faint.
Worse feeling in the world I got 1 at basic in cape May man I blacked out doing drills and next thing I know I was breathing heavy command sent me to medical that shit was scary as fuck I get them from time to time
@@TheEsco1514 Yeah I had a panic attack last time my boss yelled at me. I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. No job is worth your health man. : (
If your're a cop, and this is what happens to you in a situation like this, then you should find a different job.
Panic attack aside - this cop really ran to the road and left the EMTs in the line of gunfire after shots rang out....
Did this woman escape from a Walmart?
she escaped from Ronald Mc Donald
Ted Flick Probably. They should keep them contained that type of trash. Lo
Ted Flick 😂😂😂👍
bwahaha! nice one.
Ted Flick lol
He's experiencing the Law Enforcement version of PTSD. I'm a veteran, and a anxiety attack is a crazy event to have to experience. During such a stressful moment. Hang in there dude! Breath/Exhale..
Thank you for your service Mr. Cottman.
No he’s not. He should be in jail.
Nigerian Vibrator You’re an ignorant fuck. Clearly! The officer is a piece of shit. He shot at someone for filming him, slapped his wife, and was a shit cop. What now? There’s nothing you can say that can change the facts. He almost killed an innocent man.
Thanks for your service and for what you did
@@dillfrill10 If anybody is ignorant it's you. He might not have committed any crimes before the matter but threatening a cop by saying "I have a gun motherfucker!" Is not something you want to do. All the information you need is in the 2nd Paragraph in the description. I don't know why you're going around all these comments and being extremely negative. Maybe you've had bad experiences with cops? I'm sorry you were conditioned to think that way but this officer was in the right 100% and the suspect should've known better. As should you.
I have panic disorder and I know how terrified it feels. Having a panic attack as a policeman in this situation and still holding your ground is greatly respectable.
Sad to see the toll the job takes on these first responders. We are all human. Nice to see paramedic was hero who stood tall when needed. Solid. Thanks for what you all do for us. Peace.
