The original "Harlem Globetrotters" toon from 1972, "The Partridge Family In 2200 A.D.", "The Perils Of Penelope Pitstop", "Star Trek" the Animated Series, "Sealab 2020," "Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids", "Help!... It's the Hair Bear Bunch!", and "Super Friends" were all great too!
Groovie Ghoulies were basically Rowan and Martain's Laugh in with horror monsters. How could you get it so wrong? Penelope started in Wacky Races Perils was a spin off. Her car was the Compact Pussycat Chuggaboom was the AntHill Mob who in the original cartoon were gangster from the 20's. And Dick was molded on the villain of Flying Machines not the main character.
Tarzan, Flash Gordon, Fat Albert and Star Trek give Filmation the edge over Hanna-Barbera in my opinion. Too many of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons were just the same show repackaged. Although the best cartoon ever made was a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. Jonny Quest.
My brother and I watched the 8:55 Tarzan; Lord of the Jungle cartoon. He was the annoying little monkey pre-school age and I was the heavier and clumsier 2nd grader. When I saw my younger brother, I sometimes called out, " Bow !, mon-ghani !!". I said this as a warning for him to drop my things. That went on until he replied, " Unk ! tantor !!". 🌴
the creators of the Disney hit "Cars" have openly said they were influenced by "Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch", not Speed Buggy. Both wre hanna Barbera creations. Wheelie came a couple of years later in 1974.
I REMEMBER both of those!- PLUS, I have talked many times to people who say they can recall Wait til Your Father gets home, and when I tell them that the dad in the cartoon was Voiced by Brian Pohesen, they ask me who is he?? so then I get the delight to tell them, Pohesen, does voice work for commercials on tv, mainly they MIGHT hear his vocal talent on some Candy commercials, But he is more well known as the character of "BERT" (o f the Geology department)on the tv show The Big Bang Theory.
This list was probably for animated series of American origin. _Battle of the Planets_ was America's adaptation (not just translation) of _Science Ninja Team Gatchaman_ from Japan... except for the additional bits the Americans put in, such as 7-Zark-7, 1-Rover-1, and "Susan" the computer.
Plastic Man Comedy show, Fangface, Brady Bunch Kids, Mission Magic.Fraidy Cat, Goober and the Ghost Chasers, Fred and Barney meet the Thing. (Thing rings do your Thing.)
Every decade has their great cartoons. Flintstones 60’s, Scooby 70’s, He-Man 80’s, South Park 90’s and so forth. Born in 75 i gravitate towards 80’s🤷♂️
Fun Fact: 'Blue Falcon' lives on in military jargon for an alternate to 'Buddy F**ker'. A Blue Falcon is the guy (or girl!) that tries to talk smack to the commander on a run that the (whatever military group) can run forever and would love to run extra miles....A BF comes up with ideas to the chain of command that will make them look good, but cause the enlisted to have to work harder/longer/weirder....A BF will dime out (tattletale) peers on seemingly minor things which actually become a big deal. A BF will make it seem like they are "trying to do the right thing" when in reality, they just think its a scream to rat out other ppl.
Lots of Blue Falcons in the US military. LOL. I served in the navy and the army ( tho not at the same time-LOL ) and seem them of every rank and gender.
Cheetah wasn't invented by Disney. Cheetah was created in the early film serials of the 20s and 30s. Also, the "big bad beetle borgs" was basically Power Rangers meets the Groovy Gang.
Whoops, I normally love Marvelous Videos, but they clearly got the description of the Pinkertons off a propaganda site, considering they're colloquially known as a terrorist organization. The Pinkerton's have have been involved in nightmare activities against Americans for 130 years -- everything from Homestead Strike (1892), the Great Railroad Strike (1877), the Molly Maguires Trials (1870s), the Haymarket Affair Aftermath (1886), the Pullman Strike (1894), the Ludlow Massacre (1914), their espionage in Labor Movements (1930s), their Civil Liberties Violations (Post-Civil War Era), and their Anti-American Espionage (Early 20th Century). Crazy that a corporate funded terrorist organization is still active -- heck, Hasbro sent Pinkerton agents to a UA-camr’s house just last year to threaten and rob him! Marvelous Videos should probably edit that a bit to reflect on the fact that Pinkertons are villains.
I loved Tarzan Lord of the Jungle, Herculoids, Space Ghost, Johnny Quest, Speed Buggy, Kroft Super Saturday Show (Big Foot & Wild Boy), Fat Albert, Super Friends & Scooby-Doo Where Are You) 💯
@- I think you may have forgotten, The Godzilla Monster Power Hour, (Johnny Quest episodes were also added to the program, And MY FAVORITE, the Merry Melodies animated Tweety bird, with Cat creations who you could Truly distinguish were animated to represent the Comedy genius team, of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, In my Most fave cartoon called A tale of two kitties!
I LOVED the Tarzan cartoon too, but,I had Captain Crunch. LOL. I bought the Tarzan cartoon on dvd years ago, just haven't sat down to watch it tho. I also bought the Flash Gordan cartoon series on dvd, haven't watched it either. Maybe I'll watch them this weekend.
I live in Jamaica we only had one tv station in the 80s and it would sign on 4 in the evening and we never saw many of these those we got but not till the late 80s early 90s 😅
My sister and I were just talking about Grape Ape yesterday. It's so funny to see it listed here. I also had the Grape Ape board game. I am surprised that Jabba Jaw or the Star Trek animated series wasn't listed either. I have so many good memories watching these cartoons every Saturday morning. Though a lot of these cartoons ran on syndrocation because I remember watching them in the 80's as well. Oh, I just remembered another couple, The Herculoids and Heman, though they might be early 80's. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
The 1986 Filmation animated series _Ghostbusters_ was the sequel to the 1975 live-action comedy series _The Ghost Busters_, featuring the sons of the original live-action characters.
And surely I can't be the ONLY person here who remembers Howard "Howie" Mandel's, Bobby's World and the show called "Eek! the cat,and Quicky, the Koala? And am I the Only person here, who remembers that even the "BEATLES" were given their own cartoon? and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT when CBS network agreed to enter into a contract with the DISNEY Company and produced and broadcast the animated series, Disney's "Gargoyles".And I did my humanly best to NOT miss a single episode of the animated series' of Thundercats, AND Dungeons and Dragons, and I am REALLY Surprised no one mentioned, Warner Brothers (and sister), Yakko, Wakko, (HELLOOOOO...NURSE!!!, and Dot. OH, And I enjoyed and got into the Scooby Doo Mysteries cartoons, I was in Shock and Awe, when the creators debuted the cartoon series , The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, which was CLEARLY an ANIMATION Success, as they were able to contact and Contract, THE Legendary Monster-Mogul, himself, Mr. Vincent Price to lend his Vocal expertise to the animated series--which also had the creative artists to create an animated image of Mr. Price, which was Clearly Extraordinary!!!!!!!!

I was born in the early 1980's and still love the old retrospective 1970's cartoons - even mostly from Hanna-Barbera 😺👍.
I only remember "superheroes that played basketball" Now I finally have the name of the show, thanks.

Speed Buggy was my personal favourite.
George of the Jungle was also a cartoon that played in the 70s. It may have been made in the 60s tho
Yes, George of the Jungle originally aired in the 1960s.
@StuartistStudio1964 and the style was awesome. I loved it in the 70s.
the creators of the Disney hit "Cars" have openly said they were influenced by "Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch", not Speed Buggy. Both wre hanna Barbera creations. Wheelie came a couple of years later in 1974.
Big irony, Wheelie was inspired by Disney's The Love Bug.
USA network cartoon express was the way we got our 70s cartoon fix in the 80's
Thanks for posting 💯💯💯
Fantastic Voyage (CMDF) and Journey to the center of the earth were very short and bizarre cartoons around this time too.
Where's Huddles ??? and Wait Til' Your Father Gets Home

why wasn't Battle Of The Planets included in the video?
Good call.

Omg i miss those cartoons from the 70s.
So do I.
Me too!
Stop the pigeon!
Stop the pigeon!
(Mutley snickers) 😁
Wasn't it "Stop that pigeon"?
I may be wrong as I can't remember that well.
@@andrewvalentine6977 You are correct.
Wonderful cartoons!!!
Cheetah the chimp appeared in Tarzan films going back to the 30s. The character did not originate in the Disney adaptation.

Todd in the Shadows mentioned the Tarzan cartoon in his OHW video on Tarzan Boy.
That Tarzan show was the SHIT back in the day.
Excellent work dudes!!
The live action movie "George in the Jungle" is from the cartoon "George in the Jungle".
It bombed at the box office.
Josie And The Pussycats isn't exactly forgotten, nor is Dastardly and Muttley. They both still air today on Metv Toons.
Best channel on tv.

The Ghostbusters Goolies helped inspire was the Filmation version, made by the same company, with no connection to the 'Real' Ghostbusters.
The 1986 Filmation animated series _Ghostbusters_ was the sequel to the 1975 live-action comedy series _The Ghost Busters_, featuring the sons of the original live-action characters.
@@schoolfreak32 I should have said that - I just meant they did re-use some Goolies' animation for the Filmation cartoon series. Thank You.
These cartoons came out in the 80s.
Hong Kong Phooey?
Scatman crothers
Hong Kong Phooey was Darkwing Duck of the 70s.
What about Willie and the chopper bunch?
Wheelie not willie.
Josie and the Pussycats In Outer Space had the GREATEST theme song to any cartoon!

You forgot about The Jackson Five, Peebles and Bam Bam and Houndcats along with other short-lived cartoon classics.
Why am I not surprised that Cartoon Nerwork has ridden off into the sunset?
The same artists that did "Tarzan Lord of the Jungle" also did "The New Adventures of Zoro" in 1981.
Cartoon Network not shutting down
Actually, "Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch" was the TV series that possibly inspired the "Cars" film series.
Gobber and the Ghostchasers
I dream of Jeannie animated was good 1973-75,Fantastic 4 1978,Spiderwoman 1979
Cartoon Network shut down?!
Just the website...
Btw, George Of The Jungle was based off a cartoon by Jay Ward. But probably a parody of the Tarzan movies.
The autograph hound from the Cattanooga Cats was Chessie (named after the Cheshire Cat), not Cheezy.
