Excellent Pigua. All Wang Zhihai vids are very good. As to the comments below about speed in techniques. Speed X Mass = Power. That being said its not always who's the fastest or strongest who wins in combat although those traits are usually preferable to most. Distance, timing, and strategy are the great equalizers and often will allow a weaker fighter to overcome a stronger one.
Luohan108, I think you're right - wushu isn't just about fighting. I don't in any way use that to mean that the fighting element should be relegated to second place, but it is interesting to hear people demand that Quanshu become something else - such as MMA. It could absorb MMA training methods, but still have wider objectives, such as athletic or gymnastic physical dexterity. I think the modern wushu is technically better than traditional - easily - it just tends to lack practical training.
and remember: not all spectacular kung fu = modern wushu! there are styles of kung fu that are spectacular and traditional at the same time: long fist, snake, drunken,...................................
From a historical perspective, this is real quanshu. Do you think traditional Chinese martial arts involved Sanda style training in a gym? I doubt this guy could match a Sanda fighter in a ring, but this is traditional, or "real" quanshu. No question about that. Why don't you post something, or at least point me in the general direction of what you think is real pigua, just so we know you're not BSing.
I can't overstate that this is what tongbei should look like. Notice the extended arms, the flexibility, and all power generated from the waist.
It's great to see the training exercises at the beginning!!! ❤❤❤ *Outstanding* vid.
