Thank you for your comment. The volume of debris flow is usually very well predictable. That's why our Geobrugg flexible debris flow barriers are designed to withstand overflow. If a bigger capacity is needed, barriers will be installed as multi-level barriers. Geobrugg barriers dewater themselves after an event, which causes self-stabilization. After dewatering, the barrier can easily be cleaned. The debris is not anymore prone to flow/slide.
+Geobrugg AG the barrier fills to capacity with debris ,okay but what happens with a big major floods & the rubbish & water stills keeps coming , there is nothing to stop it from going over the top & causing more damage further down stream. ,
+davina wendy Retention capacity of any solution is a sum of barrier or dam height and torrent geometry. All our barriers can stop usually ca. 1000 [m3] and can be multiplied by multilevel barriers. Gebrugg’s biggest installation consist of 13 barriers one after another! When all the barriers are filled then the whole phenomena is slowed down by the fact that the torrent inclination changes (less inclined). Such events are also very repeatable and up to a certain point predictable (volume), so we can really customize our solutions to specific needs. This is also possible due to the fact that our systems are very cost effective due to minimized earth works and installation simplicity. We will be happy to provide you more data if needed Wendy, just let us know.
seems like a great idea, just so long as people don't take it for granted. that may stop a good sized rock, but not some of the monsters I've witnessed rolling down the mountain.
Dear Lynda, thank you for your comment. This serious incident was broadcasted in all media, we are very aware of this problem. If you have questions about the possibilities Geobrugg offers, you can contact our specialist directly in California: www.geobrugg.com/en/Contacts-8098,7847.html

yes that is all very good, until the debris & other rubbish fill the net to the top, & then it's as bad as ever, it's like a empty dam in flood time, until the dam fills with water, & then they have to open the gates & let the water out, Or else run the risk of the dam wall letting go , & all that water comes through in one big bloody hit,
is ok to be able to release the energy on your own terms so long as you catch it to empty in time.... they are an eyesore... but... really do appreciate the development of the technology.. if you were a home owner in the mountains or similar you would want the option and availability in some circumstances i bet.
Rough Hous....What kind of 6th grade childish reply is that??? She actually raises a very legitimate point, though that has been properly addressed. So, other than to be a complete twit and troll, what point is there to your snide remark???? Since you apparently know so much about the topic, please, kind sir, enlighten us on what YOU know.
I've seen guards like these along the mountainous highway system in Colorado.....

This work should be used as soon as possible in the whole world
Well done to these people! This is what the world needs more of. Team work, safety and looking after each other.
Ein überzeugender Werbefilm, weil zwischen der Installation die Realität zu sehen ist.
geobrugg You are the champions
Технологии на высоте! Ура!
amazing..life saving engineering.....salute to entire team...keep saving lives.

You are right. Our protection systems are only used where it makes sense.

It looks like will save many lives!
Already mandatory in Austria for over 50 Years.
Alvaro Herrera Vidal wont protectya if the mountain falls on ya tho 👹
it looks like it will cost an arm and a leg and the gov is to cheap to get it
Pennsylvania is using similar on the rock slopes against the highways. With our flooding as of late, those mesh screens are working very well.

+davina wendy when the net is fill with something the amount of kinetic energy of the debris is very low, and in this case net is fullfill the purpose
