One of the best testimony of how good and important Laudrup was to football, is to know that nearly all Spanish midfielders who were born between 1980 and 1990, and who later dominated world football 20-30 years later, cite Laudrup as being their role model.
This! David Silva and Iniesta are the ones who are totally vocal about him being their idol. But even otherwise, the fact that that WC winning Spanish side under Del Bosque had an absolutely stacked midfield, right from attacking mids to defensive mids with playmaking as a crucial aspect of all of these players' skillset can be attributed to the massive influence the Barca Dream Team probably had on that entire generation, and this man Laudrup was the "brain" of that team. And just thinking about how his style of play was visually appealing while extremely effective at the same time, there's no question he was a massive influence on that generation you mentioned. And just to cement this further, he was honoured as the "Best player in Spain in the last 25 years". It all comes down how you define a great player You can talk about all the great players that have skills, to master skills. But to master the game as well and have a look for it with Effortless and grace. I see noone comes close to Laudrup. He always seems to KNOW exactly what to do, nothing less nothing more. Class, elegance, technique, genius, control, vision, essentiality, wisdom, courage, authority, poetry, art and pure beauty.. with Ronaldinho (de Assis Moreira) and Zinedine Zidane were the best who stroked a ball over a field of green grass. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and forever (a football lover)
What an incredible exhibition of passing from an absolute genius with the ball at his feet. Intuitive brilliance... cannot describe it any other way !!!
It was so easy for Laudrup, he never had to give his all. Even without giving his all he was still the very best in the world, and probably the most natural talented player to ever play the game.
Why you say "even if he didnt give it all" I watched him play in his last 2 years, but never saw him being a mediocre in the field, maybe he didnt run has he was 25 but still, for me he was a giver
@@tacuazinful To be honest I'm not quite sure if you actually read my comment to begin with. Or perhaps it's my phrasing that is too vague, that has somehow mislead you? If i had to simplify my point. It would be that the level of football, at the time was too easy for him. Hence why he rarely had to give his all.
@@benjaminandersson6269 he was schooling the swansea team in training when in his late 40s. Point being, he'd be excellent and brilliant regardless of what era he'd be playing, thanks to his strong sound technique and immense talent And he'd probably be even more impactful in the later years given the eased referreeing standards on physicality and the focus on attacking, pacey gameplay.
@@tacuazinful that is not what the original commenter meant. In case you want a proper detailed elaboration of what he exactly means, read about or watch some videos about what johan cruyff and also Michel platini have meant when they said it, that "Laudrup didn't give his best". Of course Laudrup got the job done with whatever he gave on the field and i myself rate Laudrup in high regards from all that ive seen of him. But if players like cruyff and platini say the same exact thing about michael, there has to be something they saw him do in the training grounds where they were alongside him, which he refrained from doing in actual matches. Laudrup has also been called a bit too "unselfish" for his and his team's own good, especially in front of goal, which probably if he would have been selfish enough, would have won them more games if he himself had finished a chance instead of making a pass, or maybe he would have the personal accolades he deserved and hence put him in a place among the greats whose names arent forgotten. Maybe he used to do even more mesmerising things in the training sessions and play much better in there than what we saw in the games.
A player like this on your team, makes you understand runs you never saw before. You become the third man run even without another player involved, because he plays you into an alternative space no one on the field thought of. In other words, he sees you on a diagonal run not only before you make it, but before its there.
Because of this legend here, I ended up checking players from the past, as well as the current players to see if any other player could completely wreck two, or maybe even three lines of defense in one pass as frequently as Michael did. And I genuinely didn't find a single player with a career full of montage(not even xavi, not even iniesta, not even zidane, none) who had done it. Destroying and nullifying 2 or 3 lines of defense in one through ball (as you mentioned finding that alternative space before a player even makes the run) time and again, only this man had the technique and the unparalleled vision to do it.
One of the scariest aspects of watching all the Laudrup clips is not only the goals he created, but the vast quantity of clear cut chances he made which the striker then fluffed. Not only did his teams win the league every season and have the league top scorer, it was done on just a fraction of what he actually created for the team/striker.
I see that many are saying he was better than Zidane or "Zidane was overrated". In some ways I agree he was better than Zidane. Like his vision was absolutely outstanding. You notice that the best midfielders from these past years have a very similar style to him. Iniesta, Xavi, Modric, etc.. What made Zidane so special though was that not only did he have many of the footballing qualities Laudrup had but he in some was ways he was more of a complete footballer. For instance, Laudrup wasn't known for his heading yet Zidane was amazing at scoring with his head. Does that automatically mean Zidane was better than Laudrup? No. Basically I think we shouldn't say Laudrup was better than Zizou & vice versa. They both had UNIQUE qualities that made them so special for football.
Zidane was a leader on the pitch as well and tbh more consistent. But yeah Michael Laudrup should be considered among the very best in his position. Him and the less known Allan Simonsen are the best we have had from Denmark.
Simon Jørgensen what set Zidane apart was the titles he won. I believe that if Michael laudrup were from Brazil or Argentina he'd be in the greatest ever conversation.
The difference bettewen laudrup and zizou shine in right place in right time WC 1998 /Euro 2000. And made a outstanding goal on UCL in 2002. Laudrup can one big performance in the big stage. Thats is the difference. Technically, pace, elegance, vision, quality is equal.
Zidane is a dog, Laudrup is a cat. Who actually doesnt really like the pro enviroment since it is a dog world. But the Cat is by far the most inventive ,intuitive, creative archetype. Zidane come from France and Laudrup from Denmark, Yet Laudrup achieved way more than Zidane. More goals and more passes that lead to goal. Laudrup was the creature so that is the reason he did not made many goals with his head. He was actually quite good at it. Yeah Zidane achieved some success at world cup, in winning them. Yet Laudrup also got to 3 world cups and did also played remarkably well. The Second World cup he got to did not went well. That team got to old and payed that prize. Not Laudrup faults Laudrup won the federation cup though. Every club he played on became Champions. Laudrup did not need to be a Zidane, it was Zidane that copied Laudrup. His skills was so good he did not need to fight on man to man, he played effectively around them.

One thing in this video that really says alot about Laudup's playing style and reputation at the time, is at ua-cam.com/video/LUMFlhLWzZ0/v-deo.html There are 3 defender with in 4-10 meters of Laudrup. The cleary try to close down the space so he can't make his famous in depth passes. So they hesitate in the pressing and Mister keeps his calm. Executeing a fine fine pass to the back space. A pure example of what kind of a player he was. He was the Majestro of the Ochestra named Barcelona. A playmaker so fluent in hes handleing off the ball for that time. I would love to see him playing in in football today. He is my childhood hero and he has giving me and so many other danish people so much.
Also 1:57 The defense was organised yet Laudrup saw an opening that lead to an well executed goal Better seen on this ua-cam.com/video/IrUjPARlkfs/v-deo.html
+Aisrel Isidora Skill wise Zidane was the best, but no one ever, could or can pass like Laudrup did. Xavi comes pretty close, but just look at all the passing and the insane lobbed balls.
He was focusing on Barcelona, which was also why he was so good at Barcelona. It was total commitment. And when you watched those Barcelona games, you felt a tangible sense of greatness. It was something bigger than football. It was about more than just winning games. They were striving for something beyond football.
3:05 Johan cruyff in this video "..a really small piece on the field, where there's a lot of defenders, (he'd) create something, which people afterwards would say, "Ohh! I didn't see it!". (But) He saw that. Thats why he was....(better than the rest?)"
I would love to have seen this man at Rangers with his brother Brian, Michael had speed, strength and most of all amazing skill, a complete master of the game!!! Fantastic!!!!
Michael Laudrup will always be my favorit player - today only Messi come close to his greatnes. Both are humble and don't need to flash them self - see my new car...see my new dog...see my new hair etc. - and the dump press and the dump people just buy it and forget all about what is important - maybe because they don't recogniced the true beauty of football - it takes one to know one.
ok I wont upset anyone.. but to be honorst.. Ronaldinho was the best ever.. and true he didnt have a 30 years career.. but he was the mentor of messi.. in that way you who is the master and who is the student :)

To me, he is THE BEST MIDFIELDER EVER BORN! I don't care about "big names", PR-players, "primadonnas"... HE HAD EVERYTHING the one who is THE BEST must have; dribblings of all sorts_ in place, running with the ball at any speed, fantastic passing, shots on goal as well, fantastic free kicks, dictating the course and tempo of the game, imagination and reading of the game, ... he was underrated, but not true football lovers take it into account, BECAUSE WE RECOGNIZE THE TRUE VALUE, THE BIGGEST CLASS OF THE PLAYER and his name is Michael Laudrup - THE GREATEST!!!
How many eyes has this genuis got? I first saw him against Uruguay in1986 and have fallen in love with his football eversince. I wish he had played the Euro 1992 and in the final against Milan in 1994. The years he spent in Spanish soccer were really amazing.

The original always have a bigger understanding of those ways.
Even Cryuff himself said it. "When Michael plays like a dream, a magic illusion, determined to show his new team his extreme abilities, NO ONE IN THE WORLD COMES ANYWHERE NEAR HIS LEVEL.""
Most underrated player ever, he like Messi could turn with the ball on a plate and had a phenominal eye for the game.
@@chinmaypednekar501 He and Messi, don't doubt the GOAT
One of the scariest aspects of watching all the Laudrup clips is not only the goals he created, but the vast quantity of clear cut chances he made which the striker then fluffed. Not only did his teams win the league every season and have the league top scorer, it was done on just a fraction of what he actually created for the team/striker.
Love from France.
I knew Zidane. Now, I know Laudrup.
He saw what no one else saw. He saw everything. Man, what a player.
that last goal with Romario is perhaps the best goal ever scored, no defence will ever be able to counter it.
amasing he was.cant understand he was not woted the best player in the world because he truly was
I see that many are saying he was better than Zidane or "Zidane was overrated".
Jon Pool yes I agree
Not Laudrup faults
Laudrup won the federation cup though. Every club he played on became Champions.
Laudrup did not need to be a Zidane, it was Zidane that copied Laudrup.
His skills was so good he did not need to fight on man to man, he played effectively around them.
Vision 100, creativity 100, technique 100, passing 100.
every ball had perfect weight and so precise
One thing in this video that really says alot about Laudup's playing style and reputation at the time, is at
ua-cam.com/video/LUMFlhLWzZ0/v-deo.html There are 3 defender with in 4-10 meters of Laudrup. The cleary try to close down the space
so he can't make his famous in depth passes.
Also 1:57 The defense was organised yet Laudrup saw an opening that lead to an well executed goal
Better seen on this ua-cam.com/video/IrUjPARlkfs/v-deo.html
A true giant. A master of the game. He climbed the summit of brillancy, and nobody could follow him. I bow my head in awe.
It's sad to think such a great player is so underrated. If there were a team of the playmakers,he should be their playmaker.
Totally agree, humility is a quality that all great players(or anyone who has a gift) must have.
In my opinion. Best playmaker EVER. Zidane couldn't do this.
Actually, for me, Laudrup and Zidane were on par with eachother.
Aisrel Isidora Messi is and Xavi are the best playmakers ever and Zidane and Iniesta are the best CAM ever :)
anil abdu ahmed Sure Xavi and Iniesta learned from the best
+Aisrel Isidora Skill wise Zidane was the best, but no one ever, could or can pass like Laudrup did. Xavi comes pretty close, but just look at all the passing and the insane lobbed balls.
+janicojerome why you said skill? zidane's abilities passing were one the best
He wasn't as good as Xavi and Laudrup was when it came to passing. He was a better midfielder absolutely, but his passing was not as good.
I like the little steps back he does when he gives an amazing ball..
He was focusing on Barcelona, which was also why he was so good at Barcelona. It was total commitment. And when you watched those Barcelona games, you felt a tangible sense of greatness. It was something bigger than football. It was about more than just winning games. They were striving for something beyond football.
Your favourite footballer’s favourite footballer
3:05 Johan cruyff in this video
"..a really small piece on the field, where there's a lot of defenders, (he'd) create something, which people afterwards would say, "Ohh! I didn't see it!". (But) He saw that. Thats why he was....(better than the rest?)"
correct
“That’s why he was magnificent..”
@@ZidaneBaggio99 i checked the translation of "bedre end resten" that shows up in the captions below in that clip, it does mean "better than the rest"
Chinmay Pednekar I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification 👍🏼
I would love to have seen this man at Rangers with his brother Brian, Michael had speed, strength and most of all amazing skill, a complete master of the game!!! Fantastic!!!!
Speechless
Michael Laudrup will always be my favorit player - today only Messi come close to his greatnes. Both are humble and don't need to flash them self - see my new car...see my new dog...see my new hair etc. - and the dump press and the dump people just buy it and forget all about what is important - maybe because they don't recogniced the true beauty of football - it takes one to know one.
ok I wont upset anyone.. but to be honorst.. Ronaldinho was the best ever.. and true he didnt have a 30 years career.. but he was the mentor of messi.. in that way you who is the master and who is the student :)
Um dos jogadores mais brilhantes da história do futebol!
He is a real number 10 👏
If someone asks "what does it mean when you say: the beautiful game played in a beautiful way? " show them this video, they'll know without a doubt what you are on about 🙏🏻👀
I remember World cup in 98 Denmark played the last game againts brazil and both the Laudrups brother were so good. Denmark could have won that cup. But a great brazil team stop it. Man after that both the Laudrups stop .. but thar game againts brazil i Will never forget and i was 8.

You a celtic fan?
This man gave meaning to the term "the beautiful game" ❤
The greatest footballer to play.
grande laudrup super carriera lazio juventus barcellona real madrid...fenomenale....forza lazio1900
Mauro Ynga
at the time when he was playing i was too young to remember, but now looking at this video i couldnt help but be amazed at the greatness of this player Laudrup. I have to rearragne my personal list of the greatest players of all time. such a great player. it makes me ask why we havent heared of his name more often these days in football circles... its a joy to watch him play.
The vision, the timing, ball control and how he uses spaces its tremendous, there's no way u can find a player with his skill nowadays.
For pep to say he taught me everything about football.... says everything about laudrup
... we'll never see the likes again
Absolute world class 🙏
4:36 you rarely get players today really battling it out in possession like that. Modern players will just fall over seeking a foul.
The pass at 1.27 is unreal. The defenders look confused as to why the ball is played there.
1
Great video, thank you. For such a small nation Danmark have produced wonderful players.
lol at all these people saying Laudrup was the best in the 90s....he was and is one of the best attacking midfielders ever to play football, period.
3:42 - I'm sorry, what?! Brain can't compute...
O maior passador de todos os tempos!
How many eyes has this genuis got? I first saw him against Uruguay in1986 and have fallen in love with his football eversince. I wish he had played the Euro 1992 and in the final against Milan in 1994. The years he spent in Spanish soccer were really amazing.
Read my mind. If he had played and won in those two games he'd be arguably a top 10 player ever as it is I think he's about 12th
My all time favourite Barça players:
1. Messi
2. Ronaldo Nazario
3. Laudrup
4. Ronaldinho (only 2003 to 2006)
5. Eto'o
6. Stoichkov
7. Figo
8. Romario
9. Iniesta
10. Rivaldo
GAAAAARD you are so stupid you guys always says: HAHAHHAWUAHDHASUD MESSI RONALDO FUCK AND SHIT Look Its Not Every Player In The World That Can Be So Good Like Danish (of course) And Eroupan Players So Don't say MESSI MESSI RONALDO RONALDO ALL THE FUCKING WAY YOU GO!.

Major talent. On par with the very best.
Hermosas décadas... ochentas y noventas...futbolistas maravillosos . Laudrup, simplemente un genio, un creador!!
Michael Laudrup in my top 10 best players of all time!
Sgu træls man er for ung til at kunne have set ham spille... Fantastisk video, godt redigeret og dejligt sangvalg!
A reporter asked Figo who was the best player he ever played against, Figo answered probably Michael Laudrup.
oh..he is top of legend
top playmaker in the same category as Hagi-think they played together at Real Madrid-a true oldskool maste of the game-big respect from Romania.....
Football at its finest, What a genius 🇩🇿🇩🇰❤❤❤
fantastic video of my soccer idol! Michael Laudrup is the best passer and best playmaker in the history is amazing. The most underrated player in history too.
LAUDRUP THE BEST!
Probably my third favorite player of all time..I think he cusve had the potential to be the best..but I also agree he didn't gave it his all..
He was a very careful player.. And he never received a red card in his career.
Beautiful vid, beautiful music.
The undisputable king of assists. Unbelievable skill.
Thanks for the video! What a beautiful player, Laudrup and the art of the perfect pass.
Good player and good manager
what a great video of a GREAT player - that you for your creativity. Laudrup desevers nothing less, so thank you!!! :-) Greetings from Denmark
Laudrup was an artist, and so are you, Pete :-)
Hey man, thanks for making all those Laudrup compilations. Thank you for taking the time and effort to put all those clips together, which otherwise would have been lost just like this gentleman's name is lost in todays football. Michael is the best attacking footballer, the best playmaker, hands down! And he is my favorite player. Thank you once again for giving me and many others a chance to watch this man weave his magic!
Laudrup es el mejor su vision es unica no he visto nigun otro jugador con tantos pases espectaculares como él..... y siempre que algun jugador acierta un pase genial muchos recuerdan a Laudrup...
Brilliant compilation mate. Those passes were absolutely unreal!
Top pro video to the Best ever playmaker - I have always talked of Michael
Truly Brilliant, now that is a football player!
Just packed this man in my 89+ icon pack and now I’m trying to watch videos of his highlights to make myself feel better
He is The King.
