Danielle, please speak for yourself about "walking in the forest at night without a torch". Some of us can do that without a problem, though the UV from daylight is a bit of a problem...
Are you not going to mention their colouring and camouflage? You could see throughout your video that their coats are perfectly matched to the trees they cling to.
About 15 years ago I spent a few nights on the island of Langkawi, Malaysia, a bit of a wash for wildlife watching because of heavy rain. But one evening I took a short walk near my hotel and saw a strange-looking creature glide among the trees. I asked the hotel staff what it was and they told me COLUGO, a completely new animal to me. I feel so lucky to have seen it. Several years ago I learned that there is a glide suit named after the colugo, but I don't think I'll try it.
I still think it could be fun to see a video on the Peccary; they deserve more attention, especially since they're not actually related to pigs; they just evolved similarly.
@@Chaos89P@Chaos89P I wouldn't know; I've never had it; I also have no intentions of having it; Peccaries are very musky; it's how they earned the nickname "skunk pig," and chances are that will carry over to their meat.
Finally, a video on an animal I don't know anything about. I'm not talking about your channel, just in general. No one seems to go into lesser known animals, however this scratches the itch
Thank you for bringing to your viewers attention another little-known animal. I may have heard of these delightful animals but didn't know much about them. Stil a lot to learn but every time I watch your videos I learn something. Again thank you, you are a very delightful and entertaining narrator as all your fellow co-narrators seem to be. One happy subscriber.😀
1:25 ^...^ best not get too close to the little guy while smelling like his food 6:13 :O looks like this one is gliding with a passenger... she got her baby strapped on for the ride... how cute
Dang, now I'll have to cross colugos off the list of obscure animals I can brag about having heard of... anyway, glad that you're covering these weirdos!
These are very cool! I recently saw a video where one was crawling on a man's back. No idea if he kept one as a pet, it was outdoors maybe it was wild or, in a sanctuary.
Great video, Danielle ! You and your colleagues always provide plenty of information along with photos and videos that broaden our knowledge about the world around us and the many critters that we share it with.
I'm lived in the phillipines, there is many here, gliding at night where people so scared its thought to be a supernatural beings,it so very adorable and very very cute
I can’t believe there aren’t more views on this! What an amazing creature! Danielle going for a little patagium wardrobe too maybe? Loved the vid, thanks 🙌
I found out about colugos a couple of years ago and was wondering when Animalogic would do an episode on them. So cute and weird with those big ol' eyes and funny faces, and the babies accompanying their moms are adorable
They turn the back of their glider suit inside out and let it rip. It is the weirdest looking poop stance you'll ever see. They manage to stay very camouflaged when they do it. Stealthiest weirdest poop ever
This helps to explain why so many species are bats. If anything it's strange that flying reptiles haven't taken off again, but then that slower metabolism probably isn't easily adapted
Colugos are a bizarre species, like the aye-ayes from Madagascar. All the more reason to preserve them like any other creature in nature. Because of their range throughout Southeast Asia, they’re also found in Singapore, the most industrialized country in the world. So much so that they’re very little spaces of natural landscapes while the rest are in their and/or between the cities. Their work of being eco-friendly after the years is exquisite but overall, pointless, in my opinion when they should at least, half of what it once had.
PSA: Remember to keep your crystal ball/s in dark or dimly lit areas and always cover them when not in use. Rando: Oh because of spirits or something? PSA: No. Because, the ball will focus the light and burn your house down.
I would love for animal logic to recommend their favored conservation effort groups that we can support. Also @ 6:12 you can see the baby holding on to mama while she glides
It's pretty fascinating that besides great apes, these are the closest animals to us on the genetic lineage... Could you imagine if a rare group of humans evolved a flying squirrel type adaptation lol they would compete with those base jumpers who wear those glide suits lol
I knew colugos are excellent gliders with extensive membranes (patagia), but gliding at night was a surprise. For aerial locomotion under reduced light, Their visual acuity should be extremely high & efficient for maneuvering glide trajectory & precise distance. Very informative, thanks!
These are fascinating little creatures, and rather beautiful in their own unique way. I thought Flying-fox Mums had it hard, flying with their babies hanging on by clamping down on a nipple and clutching her body with all their claws. Colugo Mums have to hold baby against their bellied with their tails. That must make their glides and landings more cumbersome. Those flying squirrels who look like shy boys working up the courage to ask for a date, could have been invented Ghibli Studio artists, kind of like Totoro.🖤🇨🇦
Sunda Colugo: You said their range is from Thailand to Indonesia. Your map incorrectly shows Papua New Guinea as part of Indonesia, in red. So are Sunda Colugos found in Papua New Guinea?

Please make a video about aardvarks.
And I thought you were talking about warts...
What does "five times lighter" mean?
Colugos are native to where I live and absolute cuties. 10/10 when you see one on a tree and a baby is poking its head out from under the mum.
Flight/gliding evolving independently so many times is fascinating.
this comment is just asking for a religious nutjob to start preaching to you
nature finds a way
Kinda like how anteaters, pangolins, armadillos, numbats, and aardvarks all evolved to eat ants.
Even evolution recognizes air superiority
All designed by The Creator.
Cute and weird creatures. The Colugos when they glide in the air, is something magical to see.
But when they walking , they very scary
Are you not going to mention their colouring and camouflage? You could see throughout your video that their coats are perfectly matched to the trees they cling to.
Oooh neat! Good call!
They are nocturnal so the dark colors are fitting
Patagium: A kind of skin that Rocky has but Bullwinkle doesn't.
I've seen of artificial patagia. Some people are just...
And now for something you'll REALLY like!

They’re still under Suina. They’re related af to pigs
Don't they, oddly enough, taste like pork as well?
@@Chaos89P@Chaos89P I wouldn't know; I've never had it; I also have no intentions of having it; Peccaries are very musky; it's how they earned the nickname "skunk pig," and chances are that will carry over to their meat.
My comment got removed. Peccarys still fall under Suina
“Aren’t actually related to pigs”, that’s a bit misleading, as both pigs and peccaries are in the suborder Suina, or Suiformes.
Looks like a half transformed vampire from 'what we do in the shadows' still kinda cute tho😂 BAT!
These little guys are awesome. They're so cute!
They have such a pitiful expression ❤️🤗🐝
I was waiting for the living poop footage after the last "No, we are not."

The baby learning to spread its "wings" on mum's back was great!
Could paleologic make a video on the extinct giant lemurs of Madagascar?
My goodness, I feel like their eyes are the perfect example of "no thoughts, head empty" 😂
lmao you’re right, they really do have that vibe. it’s giving koala

Another stellar, informative episode! I'd never heard of these cuties.
The floor is lava to the next level.
So cool! Love the colour vision and flying evolution. They seem a lot like sugar gliders but related to primates! Love convergent evolution!
Fascinating animals! Never heard of them!
You got me melting for 9 minutes straight. Those huge eyes... they're as fascinating as they are cute.
UGH Why does the Siberian Flying Squirrel have to be so friggen cuuuute?! Thanks again for another amazing video!
I came to know about this animal just yesterday and now there is a new video about it?
Love Danielles new hair look! Suits her well!!
Great video, Danielle ! You and your colleagues always provide plenty of information along with photos and videos that broaden our knowledge about the world around us and the many critters that we share it with.
Very cool did not know about these !
Thanks for sharing
We had flying squirrels and black walnut trees they bowled at night in our attic!
So stinking cute❤ Danielle, love your hair, very chic😁
That's a new one for me!
Same😊
Mindanao's Pronunciation: 😂
True, though Philippine town name pronounciations can be hard for westeners so I just let it slide.
@@shaider1982 That's an island not a town.
How's it pronounced?
As soon as Danielle described the Phillipines colugos as pit bulls, I immediately thought, "Are they derpy cuddle bugs full of love and kisses?"🤣
i was wondering the same thing hahaha
More like screeches and screams😅
Do they maul children? ;)
I'm lived in the phillipines, there is many here, gliding at night where people so scared its thought to be a supernatural beings,it so very adorable and very very cute

in Mindanao 🇵🇭 they called (Kagwang)😊😊sad to say they are disappearing slowly because the natural forest getting smaller and smaller every year 😢
Animalogic you always have interesting content!!
at 2:56 looks like one with 6 legs and 2 tail then think oh now that just its baby on its back trying to help mom glide LOL
Shoutout to anyone else who found the hidden Kirby.
I was like aw they're so cute, to ew they look kind of dirty, to aw hell naw when the parasitic moving poop part came up.
I'd love to see some Aotearoa/New Zealand birds! Like the Kakapo (my favorite), or maybe a Kea or a Takahe :) ?
I found out about colugos a couple of years ago and was wondering when Animalogic would do an episode on them. So cute and weird with those big ol' eyes and funny faces, and the babies accompanying their moms are adorable
I watched this while eating soup and was about to have a really bad time at 8:37 or so lol
They turn the back of their glider suit inside out and let it rip. It is the weirdest looking poop stance you'll ever see. They manage to stay very camouflaged when they do it. Stealthiest weirdest poop ever
Even her description was kind of gross, lol.
Love Danielle's narration so much.... .whyyyy
magnificent documentary
I am glad you grew your hair out, you look beautiful.
I wish you would do a piece on low land pacas. There is so little information available on them. Great video btw.
I'll be going home from Calgary, Canada to Bohol, Philippines next week where colugos are natively found. Locally we call them kagwang.
Great presentation, as usual, Danielle! 😎👏🏿🙌🏿👍🏿
This helps to explain why so many species are bats. If anything it's strange that flying reptiles haven't taken off again, but then that slower metabolism probably isn't easily adapted
Five times lighter than my head? Lol weird unit of measurement. Now I'm obsessing over how heavy my head is. It feels like it changes 😱
I feel so blessed to get a chance to see one in my hometown botanical garden. Just a wild one sleeping under a palm tree. Such a rare animal to spot
there are colugos in Malaysia too! I saw one in Penang
The mindanoa had me laughing.
Please do one on the “Scalytails” of Africa. Weird gliding rodents NOT related to flying squirrels. They have an almost batlike flying membrane.

That was so interesting... thank you so much for sharing these flying fellas. P.s. I wanted to see the feces move😊

Those eyes! Cuteness overload!
You guys are one of the best youtube channels. Great stuff!
50% of me absorbing interesting facts about evolution. 50% going aaaaaaaaw, cuuuute 😅
have you done an episode on gliding reptiles? Like the gliding snake and the flying dragon?
Saw a video of one of these flopping around in a panic on someone's lawn while some people screamed and it was a very bizarre introduction to them
In Philippines, these are also called kagwang. Majestic creatures!
I would love for animal logic to recommend their favored conservation effort groups that we can support. Also @ 6:12 you can see the baby holding on to mama while she glides

I had a Colugo in the garden here in Singapore..
Amazing the variety of creatures here, first time learning of this one.
Super interesting! They are amazing little animals. You do a great job narrating these videos.
Incredible design, and 100% adorable. ❤

3:39 Awesome🤩! That’s the coolest fact I’ve learned today.
The shirt you are wearing is super cute and flattering!
They sound very fascinating, both ecologically and evolutionarily
Suggestion: The lesser known or newly discovered Australian marsupials🦘🦘🦘🦘
Next? South Texas ocelot recovery. It's happening in the shadow of Musk's spaceport.
8:32 ... Not sure if i could have been truly ready for that... but I was resigned and ready, for science 😅
It’s almost like they’re colluding and going all at the same time.😂
i saw this once. scare the sh** out of me! because it flew down and glided over my head! sneaky lil creature!
I thought this was an obscure species of lemur from Madagascar
Sunda Colugo:
You said their range is from Thailand to Indonesia.
Your map incorrectly shows Papua New Guinea as part of Indonesia, in red.
So are Sunda Colugos found in Papua New Guinea?
We gotta protect them! I just learned about these guys a few weeks ago! ❤
Your drawings are fantastic!
I think I've been interested in everything, the internet has taught me more in the past ten year than my first 50yrs never have I heard of this animal
Didn’t even know this animal existed until now. Thanks guys!
8:36 had me panicking, haha. Great video, loved learning about these creatures!
i think its pronounced closely to mint-a-now
Please make a video on giant squirrel (shekru)
They glide, have comb teeth & is five times lighter than your head. Yeah that sounds like me.
I saw a mother and child once and I was so confused as to what I was looking at 😂
Awesome as always thanks your videos are always interesting and I learn something from every one!
2:16 if you want to skip the advertisement
Been long not seeing Colugo. But they are report of colugo spotted in Kent Ridge Park in Singapore. Perhaps the easiest spots to look for them..
I remember when I first learned of these animals. I was in awe. A really unusual and cool animal! I actually may try scentbird, I love fragrances.
I would love a paleo logic video about the Yi Qi, they're so interesting
Thank you for not showing the worms. I was watching this episode while eating!
Good intentions, with unexpected consequences. When the little guys get use to flying into utility poles, until they fly to one with power lines.
Seeing them fly silhouetted it's like they're sky rays
Such a neat video.
Annnnnd Danielle is so gorgeous 😢
I needed to see the poop move.
