As a Marriott lifetime platinum with titanium status the past couple of years on retirement travel I added the IHG program (where I earned diamond last year) to my secondary portfolio after looking at Hilton - Many people value IHG and Hilton at .005 a point, but I found redemptions in the IHG program far more valuable than the Hilton model. Like a Hampton Inn going for 35K and Holiday Inn going for 19K or a Hilton going for 60 K and a Intercontinental going for 38K... I'll be exploring my options with Wyndham, Choice and Hyatt CCs - both personal and business in the near future.
I’ve found the same thing. I feel the only way to get good value from Hilton points is to use them on ultra luxury bookings, while with IHG I can get good value even from a lower end property.
