I think they’ve cut costs by making the upper much more shallow. The toe box is also insanely narrow. There’s no way I can even wear skate half cabs because they hurt my toes so badly. The best part about skate shoes from the early 2000s was they weren’t made only for people with super narrow feet.
Skate classics are my favourite. They take a while to break in but when they are they mold to you feet unlike any other shoe. I also seem to find they last way longer than most shoes.
i skated mine when they were new and weren't all that comfy. sent them to lawnmowing hell for a year or so, cleaned them up and now they're really comfortable. running an old nike sb lunarlon insole from koston1 and a thin foam insert. bad ass shoes
Spot-on with my experience as well. I've worn and skated Vans Slip-Ons for decades. I bought some Custom, Skate Slip-Ons at the start of the year and they were unwearable out of the box. I had to put in the thinnest insole I could find to even put my foot in there. I don't like the way the foxing tape and stripe wear down compared to the originals either. They're like pencil eraser material. I'll just stick to the Classics.
Yeah dude, trying to wear these shoes in actually sucks so bad and they are fully unwearable out of the box like you said! Putting a thinner insole in makes so much sense! I might try that myself👌🏼
yeah the break in period with these is gnarly, i skate the canvas ones too (don't bag as much) but i swap the insole to a thinner con's insert until they are ripe for the skate
So gnarly dude! Actually I have been skating the checkered canvas version of these too and they didn't feel as painful as the suede version do 🤔 That's a good idea too, I didn't think about switching out the in sole!
Yeah dude, a lot of people think the same lol I've been skating Vans authentic's, era's and slip ons since I was a teenager though so I'm pretty used to it
IMO slip on vans make since especially when u bust strings alot. Or even wear different shoes to the park like I do. But I wear the Tie on vans atm. With no complaints
I can't speak to the skip ons but I absolutely love the skate eras. I'm on my 5th or 6th pair. They take a bit to break in, but only like a week of walking around. They're probably easier to break in being a laced shoe. I might actually try the skate slips after this video. My heel felt way too loose in the old ones so I never really gave them a shot.
The skate era's and old skool's have been the least painful out of the whole line. I think the worst thing about the slip ons is when they are tight and painful, you can't loosen them at all so they just feel way more painful than any of the other shoes in the line because of this! If the old skool's, era's, authentic's or skate hi's feel too tight, at least you can loosen up the laces so they don't squish your foot so much...
Does anyone have a solution to that, even tape doesn’t help for me, got some suede stick in things to go over the stitching from Mr minit but the edge of the suede gives me a blister just like the stitching 🤦♂️
I have been skating Vans bmx slip-ons lately. Yes the bmx ones :D. They are wayyyy more comfy but dont last as long. Here in Europe you can find them for like 30-50 euros on sale so not too bad.
I was actually wondering how they would skate!John Hill skates them so I thought they must be good but yeah they obviously wouldn't be reinforced in the right areas for skateboarding since they are BMX shoes but I'm still keen to try a pair 🤔
Agreed, the slipon pros were dope. I had the black ones with the white sole. I liked that the pros were black where the elastic is on the tongue. I love the skate slipons though, they offer quite a bit of protection and board feel. Thanks for the review and skate clips.
Yeah dude, the Slip On Pro's were the best! These definitely are an upgrade but just so painful to get worn in lol No worries dude, thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Destroyed my popping/pushing toe in the Era Pro(popcush insole). I still workout and chill in eras but Ill never skate vans again. Now I add FP insoles in any shoe I skate
@@LeonPaxton Just a weird nollie back lip bail on a flatbar warming up and landed straight to my toe. The chillest bail but I was jacked for almost 2 years, before that I loved the vans soles honestly
I bought these shoes literally because they have a break in period. Coming from a hiking and manual labor background, high quality boots need to be broken in. Once they are they will feel great and last a really long time. No one questions this with hiking boots. You wear them around a lot before a hiking trip. I got these vans for that same reason, because if they take a while to break in then they should last a while. I just put them on today though, so we’ll see if I’m correct. It sure seems like Leon likes them.
What about trying 1/2 size up? I really don't like the new skate insole. Too squishy at the heel for me, gave me the biggest blisters I've ever had (in a pair of half cabs though). It also feels like I'm standing taller which is weird to me.
I did actually think about that! It's just really hard to find them in half sizes here in Australia 👎🏽 I did recently get a pair in a size 12 though which is a full size higher than what I am and they don't hurt at all, they are actually so comfortable straight out of the box! I don't think they would be good to skate in tough since they already are a bit loose and would only get more loose as I skated in them and wore them in 🤔
Thanks dude 🙏🏼 Yeah I know a lot of people that can't bring themselves to skate in slip ons as well lol It's just all personal preference with skateboarding though 👌🏼
Fantastic video and thank you for the hacks. :) Do you have any tricks for reducing sole wear out? I burn through my lead foot's ball position in about 3 weeks and it's just the worst. Thank you again, mate 🕶
Thanks dude, thanks for watching 🙏🏼 That is most likely from moving your foot around a lot to set up for different flip tricks especially if it's only on your front foot! Maybe try lifting your foot slightly into position rather than scraping it across the grip tape to set up for tricks. Hopefully that helps dude 🙏🏼
my NB 440s when i first got them i immediately regretted it because they felt soooo tight and narrow (i have a wider than normal foot) and they would hurt so badly when i wore them they ended up chilling in the closet for a long long time (almost 2 years) i would wear them very occasionally and they would hurt immediately. i didn't expect break in to be such a big thing because im not used to sneakers breaking in like leather shoes do but i guess because it's suede it does break in and now they feel a looot more comfortable. i still think they are slightly too tight for my foot (and this is a cupsole issue i think) so i would need a wide version next time. vulc shoes fit me muuuch better off the bat, especially the SB blazer mids, always been a huge fan. most likely will pick up a pair next time i buy skate shoes. the good thing about the NB is that it's very solid and resistant and wears very slowly i feel
Yeah dude, I’m a massive fan of the Vulcs too and never really feel that comfortable in a cup sole. The Blazers are such a good shoe too and break in instantly 👌🏽
My experience with these was awful as well. I used to buy Pro slip ons like every month and now I haven’t bought one since they debuted the Skate line in 2021. Desperately trying to find a new slip on that has the same foot support and protection but nothing yet. I’d love to just size up but I wore a 13 and Vans doesn’t make the skate line in a 14 unfortunately 😢
Yeah dude, I'm still on the hunt as well. I just keep coming back to these but the Emerica Wino Slip ons are pretty good and wear in straight away but just don't last as long.
Back in the 90’s and early 2000’s I could literally only skate in Vans. Etnies and DC shoes felt “plastic-ee” and slippery on grip tape. Basically they felt unsafe on a skateboard. Van were and always will be the best shoe for skating.
Привет Бро. Я так же столкнулся с этой проблемой. Эту обувь нужно разнашивать. Я заклеивал Ахиллес пластырем и ходил в обуви неделю, потом они примут форму твоей стопы и не будут натирать. Пробуй
i have the same problem dude! My right foot is slightly bigger than my left so the right shoe always feels tighter and like it takes longer to wear in 🙄
for me, as someone who has feet so wide...i can't wear any other skate shoes aside from these. the break-in has always been excruciating. but well worth it.
Yeah man, the break in period on these really do suck but I feel like it is worth it too for how good these shoes are when they are fully broken in and ready to go 🙌🏼
Ngl i don't skate but the slip on vans will always be my #1 to wear everywhere, i'm a Loose hoodie-ripped skinny jeans type of guy so they go well with my styling
" no vans no supra no reebok or fila, man them mothaf**kas look stupid " quote from Dear yired guys - Alim f/ bad news off the razor diet underground hip-hop album
I’ve heard rumors that Vans is preparing to get rid of the skate era and keep around the skate authentic instead (they supposedly will still make the classic era just not the skate model) which is a tragedy. But they have made some new skate authentic mids, they have a brown/white pair floating around in the wild
I had the same issue before and I found an easy fix. By pulling out the rubber on the heel (it’s a hard rubber on the heel with a red border) the foot can move back a bit and the issues (or most) go away. I was about to give up on them, but this helped a lot and you don’t need to suffer them so much, :)
Wait do you mean the red thing that lines around this checkerboard area? Recently sent back a pair of skate classic oldskools cause they hurt the top of my foot. How much do you think taking that out would help with that? Cause once I would rip it out I can't go back ofcourse haha
Same dude! They didn't seem to last as long as the upgraded 'skate' model but they were definitely way more comfortable and I personally prefer the red tag they had on them to the new checkered tag they they have
I've been cutting the tag off funny thing is they've had checker on the back of the vans tag for a while then started flipping it around and it just looks tacky
My ankles hurt like hell for the first time when i wore these, just walking around, its not that theyre meant to do, but anyway after a few days of skating them, theyre perfect for me now, i guess it really just depends on the person
Yeah dude, I can see what you mean. It definitely kills your feet when to board chops you on top of your foot lol They are good daily shoes though when they are worn in too 👌🏼
Won’t lie, I was expecting to not like this video before clicking on it, I’m a slip-on diehard and people hate on them a lot 😂 this video is SPOT ON! I’ve been saying for a while now Vans fucked up the originals, I got two pairs recently and only one I’ve actually been able to break in. The broken in ones are going strong though, still my favorite shoe, wish they hadn’t fucked them up. Good video boss
Haha thanks for your honesty 🙏🏼 Dude I'm the same, such a love/hate relationship with the new 'skate' slip ons though lol Yeah man, the slip on 'pros' were the best shoes out! This new version does end up lasting longer but they are just so painful to get going lol Thanks heaps man!
I grabbed a pair of these and even though they took a bit to break in (I microwaved them a bit to help) they have been one of my fav skate shoes so far to come from vans
Guys, I don't want to jinx it, and maube ai just got lucky, but the newest pair of these I tried were snug and comfortable out of the box. The last pair I got RUINED my heel, and I tried everything from thick socks to new inserts. That was a long time ago, and I was dreading getting new ones, but they don't hurt. I don't have heel callouses or anything either. Maybe I just got a good pair, but try them. Maybe they changed something crucial recently.
Another example of why companies should not change the recipe. Unfortunately, in this case _ the company im talking about is a shoe company ive been wearing since 1986. The new "skateboarding " shoe ..... lets just say ive purchased 5 pair since vans started this line and all but one pair are collecting dust in my closet. Only the Grosso's from this line i can comfortably wear..... So frustrating!!! I hope many others are complaining about this shoe because the problems need to be fixed.... ive literally taken my dremel to the inside of these shoes just to find a little comfort... ..
Yeah dude, the 'upgrade' they did to their shoes is a bit controversial. People either love them or they hate them lol Damn that sucks man, it really doe just take so long for these shoes to wear in and stop being so painful 😩
Ive had some bad times wearing in vans. At first the soles feel like bricks inder your feet and the back cuts your heel. They do get comfy the more you wear them Though. I skate with shoes that are leather, wide with a puffy cushing tongue like Emericas. There's also shoe goo, and insoles that Jaws use that look pretty rad
I had the opposite problem, I bought a pair and my heels kept slipping out. I returned them the next day. By the way big homie, can you please review the brand new Leichhardt Skatepark.
10 years of Janoskis ruined my feet. Bunions galore! Best shoe to skate in but wear in for me was 2 weeks minimum. The curse of having wide islander feet. My feet are in pain just looking at these slip ons
Oh dude, Janoski's were the best back in the day! They weren't too comfortable though no lol Man I feel you on that one, my feet are wide so that's probably why I have trouble with these slip ons too!
what i did was i took out the vans pop cush insole and replaced them with sb dunk (nike zoom air) insoles which made the shoes loser and way more boardfeely. i skated it like that until the shoes wore broken in and my feet started to hurt from just walking around in them because of the less cushiony insoles and i switched them back to the pop cush.
holy shit sucha bummer. the vans slip on pros were hands down my favorite shoes. they lasted me so long and were so insanely comfortable. My mom got me a pair of slip ons for my birthday and they are the new ones and my god ive never felt so uncomfortable skating in a pair of shoes. Bring back the old formula, fuckin tragedy
Mine too man! Haha yeah they are so damn stiff and painful at first! They are the best shoe after they were in but the wear in period is so long and painful 😫
Yeah I have two pro slips. The first pair I don’t think was to bad. But the second pair I don’t skate so it feels impossible to break in an it does hurt. Vans are the best shoe ever I can’t givem up
Partially fill ziplock sandwich bags with water, put the bags inside the shoe, then freeze them for a day. I've you remove the bags and let the sure warm back up they will loosen up
I like the skate classics. I switch off between the old skool and the slip-on. I will say that the slip on takes more time to break in as opposed to the old skool. Regarding the blister issue, I wear vans socks. The ones I buy from the store actually have gel padding at the heel location to prevent blisters. Seems that vans acknowledges that universal issue with their shoes. 😂
Yeah dude, the Old Skool's definitely have less of a wear in time for sure! Oh for real? I didn't know they made socks with gel protection! They are definitely aware of how bad the blisters are in their shoes then lol
@@andinarcadiaiit’s just some light gel padding that they include on their no show socks at the heel. Nothing spectacular, but I haven’t had the blister issue wearing them.
Is it just me, or has anyone else gotten blisters on the ankles? I got a pair for super cheap and love them, but theyre tearing up my ankles. Any suggestions?
Yeah dude, the back of my heel always gets beat up from these shoes 👎🏽 Try and wax that red stitching that digs into you or you'll just have to wear a big bandaid over the part that rubs
Haha, sounds like an absolutely gruelling experience 😂. Not a big fan of Vans myself. For me it always seems like they are too narrow across the bridge of the foot and I always have my toes and specifically the pinkie toe feel crammed and in the case of the pinkie, pinched.
Oh dude, it's actually the worst! I really wish they didn't skate so well once they are worn in because I would never touch these shoes again lol Yeah man you are 100% right about that!
i got a pair of wayvees(skate) and '92 skate half cabs at same time, buy one get one free. the wayvees are super comfortable and broke in quick. they have the wafflecup sole which i really like, which is also available on bmx models of classic shoes. so maybe try the bmx slip-ons for skating. the half cabs were, still are actually, kinda stiff and uncomfortable and too tight in the mid-foot. i'm sure they'd be super nice once broken in but i don't really want to skate them anyway, rather keep them fresh. i don't really like vulc soles anyway, but i have some etnies vulc soles and they are much nicer than i would've thought. i like to skate my shoes to death, they get better at the end
I've heard good things about the Wayvee's actually! I just don't like the look of them personally lol I've seen John Hill skate the BMX Vans actually and he really likes them so that could be true man, I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a pair 🤔
@@LeonPaxton i don't skate the wayvees much, but they're a super comfortable daily wear shoe. i got them bc they were the only other skate shoe in my size that i liked enough for the free pair of the bogo deal
@@LeonPaxton yeah they def would, i just have other shoes that i'm skating daily. the times i did skate them they were super grippy and super comfortable, it's like a good blend between a vulc and a cupsole
Yeah dude, I know a lot of people don't think it's worth the trouble and the pain. That's where the Emerica slip ons come in as a cheaper and more comfortable option 👌🏼
Vans ruin your feet. I'm 53 and wore vans since the 80's when you had to custom order them through skateshops. Now, I have to wear Hoka running or expensive leather shoes for everyday.
I skated the old schools, slip ons and now i'm rocking the authentics AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE STITCHING ON THE HEEL IS SO FUCKING HORRIBLE IN EACH ONE OF THESE MODELS The old schools didn't hurt as much as the slip ons, authentics are on totally different level tho. Still going strong after 4 months+ of skating. I changed my board 2 times, so they outlasted 2 brand new griptapes. MY FEET STILL HURT THO. They skate really well but are just so painful to wear. Will get some rowans/halfcabs soon
@@LeonPaxton nope, and probably never will, they are at the end of their lifespan tho so that won't be a problem no more for the past 3 years i was only riding nikes and vans back to back, i wanted to get a pair of halfcabs/rowans but the ishods were on sale so i grabbed them instead lol
These were honestly the biggest downgrade. So fucking uncomfortable. I could barely get my foot into the exact same size. The rest of their range has pretty questionable quality and seem to be more geared towards kids, which is a shame.
@@LeonPaxton To follow up on this, I actually tried on a pair of the bmx slip-ons recently. Haven't tried skating in them but out of the box, they are nearly as comfortable as the original slip-on pros, just very slightly narrower. If you wanted them as a casual shoe, they would definitely be worth checking out. The all white and Black/White colourways are currently on sale here in Australia!
I'm on my 2nd week of wearing Popcush slipons. I'm still walking like a teenage girl with her first pair of high heels. Haven't skated in them yet. My socks have blood stains from heel rubbing against the back. Now I wear one normal pair of socks and a pair of wool socks to try to stretch the material of the shoes and some extra barrier to avoid blisters
Yeah, the skate version sucks. It’s just best to get the classic canvas ones rip out the insert and put a pop Kush one in there the classic ones are perfect, more bendable less shoe with the binding and the comfortability of the skate
Vans should take more responsibility for selling utter garbage sometimes like not make them so expensive. I see them more like shoes for scene kids to wear when they go to hang around city hall. After that £60 fail I'm not bothering with them when I know there are good shoes out there for £35
i had them too they were dog shit i had blisters on both heels just from the walk down to the skatepark then couldn't skate the for day because of the pain and threw away my new £60 skate shoes in the trash. I was fuming.
I think they’ve cut costs by making the upper much more shallow. The toe box is also insanely narrow. There’s no way I can even wear skate half cabs because they hurt my toes so badly. The best part about skate shoes from the early 2000s was they weren’t made only for people with super narrow feet.

for me, as someone who has feet so wide...i can't wear any other skate shoes aside from these. the break-in has always been excruciating. but well worth it.
Thanks for the tips for having a better shoe 😊
No worries dude, good luck wearing them in!
Thanks dude
" no vans no supra no reebok or fila, man them mothaf**kas look stupid "
quote from Dear yired guys - Alim f/ bad news off the razor diet underground hip-hop album
I’ve heard rumors that Vans is preparing to get rid of the skate era and keep around the skate authentic instead (they supposedly will still make the classic era just not the skate model) which is a tragedy. But they have made some new skate authentic mids, they have a brown/white pair floating around in the wild
Oh damn really? I guess I don't really see anyone wearing Era's anymore 🤔
Enjoyed the breakdown! How tall are you man?
Thanks dude! I'm about 6'2" and 100kg
Damn that could actually work! I might have to try that 🤔
@@LeonPaxton Please let me know if you try that and how it was, :)
Wait do you mean the red thing that lines around this checkerboard area? Recently sent back a pair of skate classic oldskools cause they hurt the top of my foot. How much do you think taking that out would help with that? Cause once I would rip it out I can't go back ofcourse haha
I got my normal size but the kept giving me heel blisters do you think I should size down would that work
Nah dude, definitely have to size up for them to fit looser
I skate in some canvas authentics from time to time, and there's just something about the grip and a tight fitting shoe.
I actually skated some canvas skate slip ons and they were more comfortable than the suede version 🤔
What camera is it you are using?
Sick video 🔥
Thanks dude!
The inside clips are filmed on a Panasonic Lumix G7 but all the skatepark clips were filmed on an iPhone 14 Pro Max 👌🏼
The pros used to be my favorite shoe. The new skate slip on is unwearable, never received worse blisters from a shoe in my life.
Yeah dude, either way I feel like these just take so long to wear in lol
Skating in slip ons sound terrifying but i don’t skate in them there like a everyday shoe I have the black/ pewter checker slip on
Yeah dude, I can see what you mean. It definitely kills your feet when to board chops you on top of your foot lol
They are good daily shoes though when they are worn in too 👌🏼
I know with work boots they say wear them in water totally wet and just walk around for a long time. Try it.
Haha thanks for your honesty 🙏🏼
Dude I'm the same, such a love/hate relationship with the new 'skate' slip ons though lol
Yeah man, the slip on 'pros' were the best shoes out! This new version does end up lasting longer but they are just so painful to get going lol
Thanks heaps man!
I grabbed a pair of these and even though they took a bit to break in (I microwaved them a bit to help) they have been one of my fav skate shoes so far to come from vans
Yeah dude, they are still one of my favourite shoes of all time! I just wish they wore in faster and weren't as painful at the beginning lol
feels like when i skate the slips ons my big toe feels ingrown while skating, they do last long, been skating my second pair since june 2023
Yeah they really are that good but damn it just hurts so much to wear these in! lol
@@LeonPaxton i bought them in february 2023 and didn’t skate then 4 months later after skating my first pair out of the box
Damn, maybe you got the perfect pair! lol
People either love them or they hate them lol
Damn that sucks man, it really doe just take so long for these shoes to wear in and stop being so painful 😩
Same dude, it's such a love/ hate relationship lol
I've actually got some of those FP insoles but I haven't tried them out yet
I had the opposite problem, I bought a pair and my heels kept slipping out. I returned them the next day. By the way big homie, can you please review the brand new Leichhardt Skatepark.
Oh true, were they the right size though?
Yeah man, I've got my eye on that one! Hopefully get out there over the next few weeks 🙏🏼
@@LeonPaxton yes they were the right size. Cool, looking forward to it 👍
10 years of Janoskis ruined my feet. Bunions galore! Best shoe to skate in but wear in for me was 2 weeks minimum. The curse of having wide islander feet. My feet are in pain just looking at these slip ons
Have you tried the Janoskis RM? they dont hurt my feet like the OG do
Oh dude, Janoski's were the best back in the day! They weren't too comfortable though no lol
Man I feel you on that one, my feet are wide so that's probably why I have trouble with these slip ons too!
Best fast times worker
Haha damn, I don't know about that but thank you 🙏🏼
im glad to hear that yours are wearing though
what i did was i took out the vans pop cush insole and replaced them with sb dunk (nike zoom air) insoles which made the shoes loser and way more boardfeely. i skated it like that until the shoes wore broken in and my feet started to hurt from just walking around in them because of the less cushiony insoles and i switched them back to the pop cush.
Damn that's a good idea dude! I never though to switch out the insole for a thinner one 🤔
What park is this? Looks chill
This is Mutch Park skatepark in Pagewood dude, not too far from Sydney city
@@LeonPaxton sick, I'll have to check it out when I visit. Cheers 👍
holy shit sucha bummer. the vans slip on pros were hands down my favorite shoes. they lasted me so long and were so insanely comfortable. My mom got me a pair of slip ons for my birthday and they are the new ones and my god ive never felt so uncomfortable skating in a pair of shoes. Bring back the old formula, fuckin tragedy
Mine too man!
Haha yeah they are so damn stiff and painful at first! They are the best shoe after they were in but the wear in period is so long and painful 😫
they should make an attachment where it goes on the spot where it wears out the most.
That would be cool dude!
@@LeonPaxton they dont have that??
They have Shoe Goo I guess lol
Yeah I have two pro slips. The first pair I don’t think was to bad. But the second pair I don’t skate so it feels impossible to break in an it does hurt. Vans are the best shoe ever I can’t givem up
Hahah I’m the same man. They’re the best and worst at the same time lol
The last pair i had i had to cut the elastic on each side and the shoe still was hurting the top of my foot they are way too tight.
That sucks dude! Have you ever tried going a size up?
I did but then they feel too loose lol
@@LeonPaxton i wear size 11 1/2 or 12 both to tight im not skating in no size 13's 🤣
Haha that's true!
Partially fill ziplock sandwich bags with water, put the bags inside the shoe, then freeze them for a day. I've you remove the bags and let the sure warm back up they will loosen up
I've actually heard of this trick but didn't know if it would damage the shoes or not? lol
Vans socks with gel padding? Post a link please. I cannot find them. These could be a game changer!
@@andinarcadiaiit’s just some light gel padding that they include on their no show socks at the heel. Nothing spectacular, but I haven’t had the blister issue wearing them.
I have these in blue suede and I really like them
Did they hurt your feet when you first started wearing them?
Is it just me, or has anyone else gotten blisters on the ankles? I got a pair for super cheap and love them, but theyre tearing up my ankles. Any suggestions?
Yeah dude, the back of my heel always gets beat up from these shoes 👎🏽
Try and wax that red stitching that digs into you or you'll just have to wear a big bandaid over the part that rubs
I didn't believe him, so I bought some. Boy, he wasn't lying! These took 4 weeks to break in. It was pretty painful
Haha yeah man, the break in struggle is real! Once they have broken in they are the best damn shoe though lol
@@LeonPaxton Yeah man, they're nice now.
Wore a new pair of skate old schools to work walking around and it made my heel bleed terribly
Yeah dude, I had the same experience with those too! The Old Skool's still took a couple weeks to wear in but not as long as the Slip Ons 😅
Try the half cabs or rowans they better
Half cans feel a bit too chunky for me but the Rowans look good! I might try those out soon
Grabbed some classics and its feel fucking painful to break-in, it's has more or less 8 sessions and it's still stiffer 😂
Yeah dude, they actually have the worst break in period to any other shoe I have skated in my entire life!
@LeonPaxton 100%, my feet hurts so bad after skating with them, I probably gonna use only for daily things and move to other shoes to skate.
@@jann470 Yeah dude, that's probably a good idea 👌🏼
Some can skate out the box some have a painful break in time even just walking. Shoes shouldn’t hurt new that’s when they lost my years of loyalty.
Yeah dude, it sucks that shoes can hurt your feet brand new but I guess every shoe has a wear in period of some sort 🤷🏽♂
I really wish they didn't skate so well once they are worn in because I would never touch these shoes again lol
Yeah man you are 100% right about that!
what park was that?
That's Mutch Park skatepark in Sydney dude. So fun!
i got a pair of wayvees(skate) and '92 skate half cabs at same time, buy one get one free. the wayvees are super comfortable and broke in quick. they have the wafflecup sole which i really like, which is also available on bmx models of classic shoes. so maybe try the bmx slip-ons for skating. the half cabs were, still are actually, kinda stiff and uncomfortable and too tight in the mid-foot. i'm sure they'd be super nice once broken in but i don't really want to skate them anyway, rather keep them fresh. i don't really like vulc soles anyway, but i have some etnies vulc soles and they are much nicer than i would've thought. i like to skate my shoes to death, they get better at the end
I've heard good things about the Wayvee's actually! I just don't like the look of them personally lol
I've seen John Hill skate the BMX Vans actually and he really likes them so that could be true man, I'll have to see if I can get my hands on a pair 🤔
@@LeonPaxton i don't skate the wayvees much, but they're a super comfortable daily wear shoe. i got them bc they were the only other skate shoe in my size that i liked enough for the free pair of the bogo deal
@@diplenski Sounds like they would be good for skating too though 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton yeah they def would, i just have other shoes that i'm skating daily. the times i did skate them they were super grippy and super comfortable, it's like a good blend between a vulc and a cupsole
I had to go a full size up on these, still too tight and really long, honestly not worth the pain, I’d take any other suede slip on over these.
Yeah dude, I know a lot of people don't think it's worth the trouble and the pain. That's where the Emerica slip ons come in as a cheaper and more comfortable option 👌🏼
you left out if they have good arch support
The insoles have a slight arch but still feel pretty flat to me
Vans ruin your feet. I'm 53 and wore vans since the 80's when you had to custom order them through skateshops. Now, I have to wear Hoka running or expensive leather shoes for everyday.
Yeah dude, I'm on my way too! Been skating them for about 18 years and still love and hate them just as much these days lol
@@LeonPaxton Yeah, I don't skate much these days, but admit that I can still only skate Vans with Old Bones insoles. I just can't walk in them.
i go half size up bro
I would love to but there’s no half sizes in Australia and then the size 12 is too loose 😩
I skated the old schools, slip ons and now i'm rocking the authentics AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE STITCHING ON THE HEEL IS SO FUCKING HORRIBLE IN EACH ONE OF THESE MODELS
The old schools didn't hurt as much as the slip ons, authentics are on totally different level tho. Still going strong after 4 months+ of skating. I changed my board 2 times, so they outlasted 2 brand new griptapes. MY FEET STILL HURT THO. They skate really well but are just so painful to wear. Will get some rowans/halfcabs soon
the blisters were just the worst, my feet were literally bleeding and still are sometimes lol
Dude I definitely feel you 100% on that one! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has that problem lol
Damn so they never actually fully wore in at all?
@@LeonPaxton nope, and probably never will, they are at the end of their lifespan tho so that won't be a problem no more
for the past 3 years i was only riding nikes and vans back to back, i wanted to get a pair of halfcabs/rowans but the ishods were on sale so i grabbed them instead lol
That sucks man but the Ishod's are way more comfortable and wear in way faster 👌🏼
My pinky toe hurts and I got blisters
I had to stop wearing my slip on "skate version" because they were rubbing my achilles on both shoes until they bled. Half cabs forever.
Yeah dude, I get that on my right foot too 👎🏽
These were honestly the biggest downgrade. So fucking uncomfortable. I could barely get my foot into the exact same size. The rest of their range has pretty questionable quality and seem to be more geared towards kids, which is a shame.
Yeah dude, it actually sucks so much, the 'pro' range was perfect!
The all white and Black/White colourways are currently on sale here in Australia!
have you tried microwaving them?
Yeah I do that with every new shoe and that doesn't seem to work on these ones lol
Became heavier too
That would make sense with the extra rubber and layers they've added 🤔
1000 accurate.
i got narrow feet, vans valid on my feet
I'm on my 2nd week of wearing Popcush slipons. I'm still walking like a teenage girl with her first pair of high heels. Haven't skated in them yet. My socks have blood stains from heel rubbing against the back. Now I wear one normal pair of socks and a pair of wool socks to try to stretch the material of the shoes and some extra barrier to avoid blisters
Haha yep, they really are that painful to break in 😂
microwave your shoes for a minute and walk around in them so that the rubber compound molds to your foot 👍🏿 makes breaking shoes in wayyy faster
It does help but these ones just take waaaaay longer than any other shoe I've skated lol
I just got these shoes
I’m 40y old, don’t do it.
Not painful at all. I put heel pads on to give my feet a little lift and not rub right on my ankles and successfully broke them in within a few wears.
Damn, you're lucky!
Yeah, the skate version sucks. It’s just best to get the classic canvas ones rip out the insert and put a pop Kush one in there the classic ones are perfect, more bendable less shoe with the binding and the comfortability of the skate
Damn I never thought of that but I might have to give it a go 🤔
Pro tip, cut a tiny slit in the fabric between the tongue and the upper and itll be instantly bigger and that part is least likely to fail
Like the elastic part?
P R O M O S M 😬
❤️🌏❤️
Vans should take more responsibility for selling utter garbage sometimes like not make them so expensive. I see them more like shoes for scene kids to wear when they go to hang around city hall. After that £60 fail I'm not bothering with them when I know there are good shoes out there for £35
i had them too they were dog shit i had blisters on both heels just from the walk down to the skatepark then couldn't skate the for day because of the pain and threw away my new £60 skate shoes in the trash. I was fuming.
Yeah they have such a long and painful break in period but I always end up coming back to them 😅
Vans are low quality garbage for people who don’t skateboard
i dont know why im watching this i dont even skate lmao
Haha thank you 🙏🏼
