The beasts who did this deserve this, I have no love lost for anyone who does something like this. Sadly, it no longer surprises me seeing what "humans" do to other humans. There are a lot of decent and good people about, but what happened here reflects what humanity as a whole has become in my eyes, a parasite on this planet.
I am thankful for all the people and organizations who help the animals that have fallen victim to our cruelty.

It’s pretty awful somebody shot this sweet cat with a pellet gun. All he needed was love. Now he’s getting it. Thank goodness he isn’t in pain anymore.

The problem is with the label "animal cruelty". Use of any weapon against an animals is something beyond that. It isn't ever right to call this felony animal cruelty. There is no reason to call all crimes committed against an animal only these two names. This crime deserved to be called the same thing as it would be if committed against a human.

I'm in the UK and adopting a cat from Bulgaria. He was the victim of a deliberate hit and run. He broke his jaw in three places, and had to have his eyes removed. People are such awful creatures at times. Glad Tater Tot managed to walk again. Hope he finds his forever home soon.
Yea there are many monsters in my country. And killing something by hitting it with a car is a common practice. But the most common is poisoning. You did good by saving the poor cat.

I've seen those and they are mostly the Korean ones. You can tell they are fake because they take far too long to even attempt to take their "victims" to a vet.
And by animals, you mean pets. They don't care about cows, pigs, chickens, goats, etc.

What is most amazing is the fact that modern veterinary care has advanced to such a degree that the sweet babies are saved and healed and not put to sleep.
The reason pets are put to sleep is because their owners cannot afford treatment or urgent medical surgery. Which is unfortunate. But thanks to organizations like hope for paws. At least we know all animals are being saved and helped ♡
most still are, or are never even noticed at all and just die out on the streets.
@jane doe...lots are still put to sleep because people don't want the expense of doing an operation or lots of medication. It's a shame.

My 15 year old tabby Theodore required emergency PU surgery {urinary blockage, due to age and metabolic problems, not like Tater Tot, who was injured by the pellet} which involved
....putting cat under.
....catharizing the bladder from an opening on his side to drain it during surgery.
....removing the penis. Creating a stoma, or a small opening under his anus.
{His scrotum and testes were removed years ago during neutering but if they hadnt they have done that too}
....opening up the abdomen and exposing the ureter, and rethreading it backwards to meet up with the stoma, in effect, creating a female urinary tract, so he pees out the back like a female.
....sewing him up and letting him heal.
Why was all this necessary? the male cat ureter threads through the penis {like all mammals} and is considerably narrower than the females....when medical issues arise and the cat developes chronic issues with infections, crystals, inflammation, etc the ureter gets blocked, the cat cant pee and dies an agonizingly slow death from a uremic poisoning and or a burst bladder.
Teddys surgery was a huge success, he is 18 years old now, still frisky and loving life. He has, in effect, had a sex change, so I have a tranny cat!!! ....and he wears a rainbow collar.
The surgery by the way....was.......ready????? drumroll.....ta dada dada dada.............................$10,000!!!!!!
And those dental veneers I was going to get to make my smile all new and brilliant??? well, ain't gonna happen. But it ok, doesnt matter....cause without him, I wouldnt be smiling anyway.

@@timothyoo7 hello.. that is their pain meow.. it can sometimes be their attack warning usually followed by hissing .. this cat was in so much pain that she was asking for help. Cats can get pretty vocal at times.
Also tells me he has been a pet prolly most of his life. His irresponsible owner didn't get him fixed so he was prowling around the whole neighborhood yowling LOUDLY & spraying all over. No wonder somebody popped him with a pellet. It's wrong but a breeding male can be an INSANE nuisance.
Totally not cool to let intact males at large.
I wish I could take him home....unfortunately, I live in Syracuse, NY and I don't think they would let that cat travel this far. Mittens has needed a new friend for awhile now.
Right most cats would have been so combative and defensive this one was sweet and just seemed completely relieved to be getting help.

The vet told Tater Tot he would never walk again but the vet didn’t know how much fight Tater Tot had

God this gives me flashbacks. A few years ago a young cat crawled up to my door and it was in so much pain. Took him to the vet and it turned out he had 3 BB pellets we had to have removed. Two in his neck and one in the back of his head. Thankfully Shadow survived and lived a long healthy life afterwards. I hate cruel people (in Shadow's case kids) that do stuff like this.
Who would ever shoot an animal, let alone a young one? No matter how young or ‘mature’ these kids were, that’s animal cruelty and I believe illegal in all states. So sad there’s a lot of bad people in the world.

It always makes me happy to see the incredible recovery these animals go through. I am so tired of people treating animals like they don't mean anything. They need to start cracking down on crimes against animals. No it isn't just a cat or a dog. When we brush these things off like it's just people damaging property, then they start escalating their crimes to actual humans.

No animal deserves this. The fact that this cat was still so sweet even being in so much pain. That is what really makes me want to find the evil person who did this to him. If they haven't already. Show him what it feels like to be treated like this poor adorable cat.

Cats, like dogs, have a overpowered sense for human intent and emotions. This cat could tell she was there to help and was a kind person. Why he was so calm through out the procedure. He knew they wanted to help him. Made me tear up the last part with him playing and running. You can see it in his eyes. He is so much happier. Thank you for all you do.

The ones who suffer the most, too, are the friendly ones, who will approach people, making them easy targets. We see it so often in Philadelphia- heart-breaking.

I never saw the father teaching him with paper targets or supervising him. People need to be resposible and have to take their kids to a target range. They should only be used for target practice. the same thing happened to one of our cats, luckily his injuries werent as bad, but the poor cat was flopping around and limping as he got into my room, at first i didnt know what happened till i noticed that his shoulder was bleeding, someone shot him with a small bb pellet. and whats more worrying is that we hear that neighborhood cats would come home poisoned or not come home at all, someone is probably targeting these poor kitties

I'm sorry he had to go through all that.I am glad he survived. Wow 😳 he looked great 3 months later and I can't believe he has a full coat. My cat 🐈 is allergic and loses all his fur on his legs .It takes him a long time to grow it back.

He did very well getting his bladder emptied. I'm surprised he didn't put up more of a fuss. I think cats know when humans are helping them. They're very intelligent probably more so than many humans.

I am not really a cat fan. But he is so cute. What humans did to him was unacceptable. His cheeks are so cute. And he is so lovable, the sweeest personality.

I know that feeling, I lost my cat after 18 yrs with her growing up together. In 2020 during the worst moment of the pandemic we had to put her down because she was old and ill and vet said she didn't have much time left. I still say hello/goodmorning/ I love you/ I miss you to her urn of ashes and still well up over a year later. I'm sooo sorry😟

Maybe someone was tired of the cat shitting in their garden/flowers/yard. Cat poop has a lot of bacteria, including toxoplasmosis. Or maybe they were tired of it scratching up their car? A person can only take so much.

Hope, he did find a forever home! From the beginning even when he was down… he kept on answering the rescuers’ question’s! They should’ve named him Talker! Thank you for those responsible in saving him! Such a gorgeous, friendly & social robust cat!
