This is a wonderful scene from the film. Anne Bancroft always captured the essence of honesty in her work as an actress. Many thanks for sharing this. 🙏🏼❤️
I can't even imagine the obstacles she had to overcome. I can't even walk around my house at night without stubbing my toe😂😂😂. What an amazing lady she was.
She learnt to feel the obstacles around her..Helen became deafblinded at 19 months old..and at first she fell on the ground and Hurt herself probably but through the years she learnt to walk and feel a wall , à wardrobe...etc..
Thanks for stopping by. Yes...I suppose we have to assume that Helen had a great deal of will power and determination to overcome her challenges. Not something that everyone would be able to do. Warm Regards, my friend!
@@Squirrel_HQ Yes we have ! I am passionate about everything which concerns helen .Videos , books..Everything on helen is fascinating ..and she was so lovely and Bright from childhood to her old age..Greetings from France..
@@IamHelenKeller As a blind person myself, I used to do everything like that I used to bump into walls and everything, and would always break stuff but I didn't care because I was a baby, I would always play with my toys even though I didn't know what they look like, I just know every time I push a button down a sound would come out of it, and the cutest thing ever that I would always try to do, was look into the light bulbs to try and see if I can see the light, I was a curious baby then. ❤❤❤
I cry each time im seeing this scene..It doesnt miss to give me tears..So powerful .Such a miracle thanks to Ann s perseverance and love ❤Helen is born again that Day.. so precious ❤❤ thanks. Séverine.
How could I ever forget this movie and this powerful scene!!! Very emotional!!! Two such incredible actors!!! Patty Duke also endured a lot in her life and gave so much through her talent as an actress from such a young age!!!! This scene has stayed with me!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!! Lorraine 🙏🙏
Hi Lorraine. Thanks for your visit. It's nice to see you. I think this version of "The Miracle Worker" is the best movie version. There have been several others over the years, but this one is still my favorite. Hope things are going well for you, my friend! 🦋🐼🐼🦋
I have seen this movie, it is quite a powerful drama about Helen Keller life,Patty Duke plays a brilliant actress, along with Anne Bancroft both have passed on, leaving us with this movie, that shows their acting skills, as superb this movie was done with such class..
Easily one of the most cathartic moments in all of film. I love the build up of joy and excitement expressed by both the actors as the music score ascends. That single spark of understanding ignited her entire soul.
It was a wonderful scene, I was really touched. The struggle of a wonderful teacher and the struggle of the poor beautiful girl was very magnificent.❤️
Oh this brings back memories to me of when I first saw the film. Thank you for returning us to this unforgettable moment in history. Wishing you spring in your heart and days, dear Helen! Linda
I didn't know this film "The Miracle Worker" about the story of Elen Keller, I absolutely have to find the entire integral part. The water scene is quite exciting and incredible. Have a nice start to the week my friend.
It has been a long time since I have seen this movie. Great move. Such an amazing and powerful scene. Thank you for sharing with us. Enjoy the week my friend.
This has to be one of the most iconic moments in the life story of Helen Keller (as well as in the history of deaf-blind education), showing the beginning of her journey to communication and education, as she began to understand that objects and ideas could be represented by language. We see what an impact dedicated teachers and mentors can have on the lives of their students. Truly inspirational! I love this scene, impeccable acting skills and full of emotions. 🥹
So powerful! Riveting to watch! We could all use an awakening like that someday!! Hope the summer heat doesn't get too hot for you Helen! Happy Solstice and Best Wishes, always!
This movie is just amazing. The acting and scene 🎬 play couldn't be better to this day. What a beautiful message. The water pump scene at the beginning looks like the pump handle actually comes into contact with the actor. I wonder if it was planned or happened, either way she just kept going and acting beautifully. 💯💯💐💐
This is a soul touching scene to feel water for Helen. The deep voice of it makes all of us feel touched and inspired. Your visual display and story tell is always profoundly inspiring. I am grateful for your brilliant showcase! Like 906 full episode enjoyed. My best wishes to you! I wish you a very Happy and Blessed New Year!
How so incredible clip Helen! How so meaningful! So magnificently amazing! Absolutely astounding! Thank you so very much my dear friend for sharing all this magic with us in your most unique and special way!
Thank you for sharing this iconic moment from 'The Miracle Worker' in higher resolution! It's a timeless scene that continues to inspire and move audiences even after all these years. Bravo❤
Here are some important citations from Helen Keller's autobiography for the person who said this scene is ableist misinformation: Keller's description of her life without language: "I do not remember when I first realized that I was different from other people; but I knew it before my teacher came to me. I had noticed that my mother and my friends did not use signs as I did when they wanted anything done, but talked with their mouths. Sometimes I stood between two persons who were conversing and touched their lips. I could not understand, and was vexed. I moved my lips and gesticulated frantically without result. This made me so angry at times that I kicked and screamed until I was exhausted." Keller, Helen. The Story of My Life. Chapter II. "MEANWHILE the desire to express myself grew. The few signs I used became less and less adequate, and my failures to make myself understood were invariably followed by outbursts of passion. I felt as if invisible hands were holding me, and I made frantic efforts to free myself. I struggled-not that struggling helped matters, but the spirit of resistance was strong within me; I generally broke down in tears and physical exhaustion. If my mother happened to be near I crept into her arms, too miserable even to remember the cause of the tempest. After awhile the need of some means of communication became so urgent that these outbursts occurred daily, sometimes hourly." Id. Chapter III. Her description of the interview with the doctor who would assign Sullivan to her: "I did not dream that that interview would be the door through which I should pass from darkness into light, from isolation to friendship, companionship, knowledge, love." Id. Her description of Sullivan's impact on her life: "THE most important day I remember in all my life is the one on which my teacher, Anne Mansfield Sullivan, came to me. I am filled with wonder when I consider the immeasurable contrasts between the two lives which it connects. ... Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen? I was like that ship before my education began, only I was without compass or sounding-line, and had no way of knowing how near the harbour was. "Light! give me light!" was the wordless cry of my soul, and the light of love shone on me in that very hour." Id. Chapter IV. Her description of her epiphany about language at the pump: "As the cool stream gushed over one hand she spelled into the other the word water, first slowly, then rapidly. I stood still, my whole attention fixed upon the motions of her fingers. Suddenly I felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten-a thrill of returning thought; and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me. I knew then that "w-a-t-e-r" meant the wonderful cool something that was flowing over my hand. That living word awakened my soul, gave it light, hope, joy, set it free! There were barriers still, it is true, but barriers that could in time be swept away. "I left the well-house eager to learn. Everything had a name, and each name gave birth to a new thought. As we returned to the house every object which I touched seemed to quiver with life. That was because I saw everything with the strange, new sight that had come to me." Id. Something important to keep in mind when watching this movie is that Sullivan was blind, too. "When Anne Sullivan was about five years old, she contracted trachoma, an eye disease caused by bacteria. Trachoma usually begins in childhood and causes repeated, painful infections, making the eyes red and swollen. Over time the recurring irritation and scarring of the cornea causes severe vision loss. Sullivan dealt with the effects of trachoma throughout her life." She was a student at Perkins School for the Blind. (Perkins School for the Blind website -- UA-cam does not allow links in comments)
