Im confused.. when you say the statospher0e winds flow in an easterly direction at 0:27 but the arrows are pointing west and vica versa for the opposite! Am I being stupid?

I was confused by that too.

When using the term “easterly” wind flow it means winds come FROM the east and move TO the west and visa versa for westerly. Once you add the suffix -erly to east, west, north, or south it means the direction from which it originated from not the direction it is headed. Hope that clears things up.
