I seen the Faces in 1975 when I was 17, at Roosevelt Stadium NJ opening up for Skynyrd and I remember Ron Wood was doing dual duties that year between The Faces, and The Stones, Live, because Mick Taylor abruptly left The Stones, and shortly after that The Faces disbanded, and the Stones needed another guitar player for good. So I guess Ron Wood was the obvious choice..He looked like a Stone, he played like a Rolling Stone, and I'm sure he was destined to be a Rolling Stone.....Plus they were friends anyway...frankm62yroldwhitekid..That was my take on all of it anyway, but lots of partying back then so........I may be wrong..lol...rockon

That's because I'm realizing that Ronnie Lane is one of the great underrated musicians of the classic Rock era. Not just bass. Just listen to his singing and co-songwriting on the far-out "Ogden Nut Gone Flake" album with the Small Faces. One of my all time favorite albums now.

I saw them twice live at The Sundown Edmonton...had been the best cinema in the area before a live venue BUT IS THIS THEN...as they started the slow down beat, people stamping on the circle floor made the whole balcony MOVE up and down, I thought, whoops, it wasnt meant for that but what a great night it was..a mate didnt like the bass to his stomach, me being a playing muso, didnt bother me at all but THESE WERE one of the best all time good time bands..
