Hi there and a very fortuitous video for me to watch. I’m hoping to go back to my 1984 routes and get myself a Hornet, and yes, back in 1984, that front end was very bouncy indeed. A great solution using a combination of Grasshopper 2 A Arms, Lunchbox ‘U’ brackets, M3 rods, M5 ball ends and rod ends and those Tamiya super mini shocks. The most heart pounding bit, would be gently shaving some of the bath tub chassis to allow for some clearance, but a great video indeed. Take care and best wishes to you all for Christmas 😊😊😊
You are capable and patient enough to take only as much as you would need to off the chassis. It wasn't that bad, just keep eyeing it up. Think back about the process, I used a pencil to mark the chassis where it was binding and worked to that line. Damn, I should of put that in the video 🤔Had the video done for a few days and been playing it back to see if there was anything I had forgot too. I did this a while back now and that part only came to me cause of your comment.
@@DustyFingersRC Hi there and thank you for your advice. So glad that I was able to trigger a little extra! 🤣😂🤣 great idea placing some pencil marks onto the chassis to see where the chassis requires some further delicate shaving. Your video will certainly help me, I think it will help many with the chassis and even those with the Lunchbox chassis too. A great tip to get some better handling from a classic chassis, I can hardly wait….but I’m going to have I to. Take care and best wishes to you all. Happy Christmas 🎄
Excellent video buddy, very helpful, I have tried various things that don’t really work in the past, I am defo gonna do exactly this at some point and I will send you a pick 👍
Nice 👍🏼 When making these kind of videos I am trying to deliver the information as efficiently as possible. Been studying YT a lot the last few months. Hope it translates to viewers.
This is absolutely AWESOME, Thankyou so much. It's going to make the Hornet so much better than straight out of the box. Tamiya left the Hornet half dome in my opinion. And the rear end is to be honest, junk that slapping sloppiness in the rear diff hangers is abominable. I reckon the Grasshopper Was better rear end set up with Hornet or even better aftermarket shocks. Still doesn't solve the unsprung weight issue but would make it so much better than standard. Having said this much though, I've also seen a fifth shock modification available for Hornet and Lunchbox and Midnight Pumpkin. Basically a 5th shock is put on rear axle shaft to chassis and eliminates the sloppy slapping that the tiny flimsy little wire springs can't control. The car can definitely be improved. But I suppose I should keep in mind this car was released at a time when the only RC cars available were toy grade and the Hornet was a huge improvement over toy grade. It was fast at the time and I suppose people weren't too worried about the shortcomings in design. Anyway great work from dustyfingersRC I've subscribed 👌👍
Hi. Thanks for leaving a good detailed comment as well as for the support. I've seen the 5th shock mod and like that idea. I thought about doing it to the Lunchbox but at the the time I bought the Ampro axle brace. Much better but it would be good to improve it further although, I would still want to have one with the classic bounce too. As you mentioned, they represent a certain time and I like going back to that era.
Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it. For the Lunchbox you can already fit oil shocks easily with the LB A-Arms so is there a reason you may want to put GH2 ones on there?
Great top tips Damian and a well thought out video. As you know I did this after seeing your other video. It certainly does improve the front although the handling over all can still be described as a bit pants. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Excellent video! It kind of makes me want to buy a Hornet now, just to do this... 😎 I should probably build my new Holiday Buggy first though, eh? (still waiting for the oil shocks for it to arrive). 👍
The DT-02 is amazing, one of my favourites. The Grasshopper and Hornet won't perform as well as that, they do give you the 80's feeling that a man my age appreciates.
@@DustyFingersRC You'd know - would a set of hornet/grasshopper wheels fit on a holiday buggy, do you think? I'm guessing the rears might not clear the arches, but I don't know how the overall tyre heights compare.
@@rccrawlersmid-wales645 Yeah, I think they are slightly smaller in height comparing both with tyres on. If you drop me a message on FB I can take a pic to show you the wheels together. The DT-02 are 12mm hex but the Hopper wheels are not.
Love the Butt cut shot. Great editing, timing and execution. Reminds me of the Bet-It's-Not-Butt hurt cream meme u might see during the great online meme wars of 2016(USA). Haven't been in the Hobby for over 30 years but enjoy your content. Took a deep dive into foot massage places instead. As an aside. Just 'found' you channel yesterday via steering my learning A.I. Keep it up! If not, there's a pill for that, probably. 💊 Cheers.
Brilliant! Glad you like the slices of comedy and your message cracked me up. Got more coming, currently working on a double video drop, they need to release together so hope you like them.
@@DustyFingersRC Got the 'all notifications' bell on as all the sub's should. Can't wait. May have to lurk a local hobby shop and eye ball an RC10 or Lunch box... @@tinhatrancher904 RC is my escapism for all the BS life can bring, you got to have something for yourself which is why I got back in to it after being a single parent with custody. In fact, my son prompted me to start making video's and supports me spending time editing. I encourage you to get another RC10 or whatever you you think will put a smile on your face.

Very nicely laid out and explained! Thanks for sticking all the part numbers in there! That is a big help!
Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. :)
Dont have one of these, but seems like a very doable remedy for tat notorious “pogo” issue! Well done!
Thanks for having a watch 👍🏼
Nice video Damien. Great to see you back dude 👍🏻
Hi, thanks, appreciate it. I have been doing shorts but not everyone is interested in those who prefer long form content.
Excellent tutorial! Adding the part #’s is a huge bonus!👍😊
Cheers, much appreciated. 👍🏼
Wow Tamiya Hornet Front Shocks more Really Amazing Soo Nice and Really Beautiful! Stay Connected!😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗

What a great instruction video Damian. Big like.
