- I needed a 12 volt battery pack for my bicycle LED lights that could run the lights for a couple of hours without charging. So I bought this "50,000mAh" battery pack from AliExpress. Noticing that it was quite lightweight, I thought I'd tear it down to see what was really inside it...
The offending battery pack: www.aliexpress...
The offending AliExpress store = "Aleaivy battery 2 store":
www.aliexpress...
(hint: it's not really 50Ah!)
If there ever was a war on with China and I was a cruise missile technician, I'd program at least 12 cruise missles to go to these battery factories brah...
I nearly got myself one. Good job man...
Plus... The size of the charger can say a bit.
I received time ago a 90Ah LFP battery that eventually had 12 cells (3 series of 4 parallels). It was not LiFePO4 and of course merely 12Ah.
They added one to many zeros on the label just a miner error, very hard to find honest suppliers 🤨
Planing to buy one of this.after watching your video I change my mind.ty.
No to jest nas dwóch ;}
On the internet it says the highest mAh 18650 is the Panasonic NCR18650G (3600mAh). So if you use that info and battery knowledge, you can never get 50000 mAh. Regards
Everything you see from China, don't forget to devide by 10
Should be 12.8 volts when fully charged. There is no way they could have the storage capacity they are rated at.
50Ah for that price and weight. How does is feel to be holding world peace in your hands? 😂
Before seeing he video , it is impossible to get 12v 50 000 Mah with this small shape . If we have 12v 50ah we need 50 pcs of 18650 with capacity of 3.0ah .
Pay attention when you buy a lithium ion battery .low price equal to bad quality.
Actually it is at maximum: (3600*2)/3=2400mah or 2.4ah. I think these are cheap cells of about 600 or 700mah each. That will be a capacity of approx 466 mah.
3S2P cell mAhxP count
At some stage used aliexpress a lot, now basically never. Not only the shit products, the main reson was the systematic shipment scams the sellers do. And its almost impossible to recover Your money, as the support is on the sellers side.
hehehe theres pob like 3 ncells in there or one cell and 50 cent boost module ,curious how ill do with the guess
heya mate actually those so called bms ,arnt bms ,they dont work the way you think ,in fact only high end bms units with separate shunts and relays for charge and discharge protect cells properly
what happens if we put it on charging and in the same time we link it to load , does the bms will protect it and just discharge or it will be damaged
The BMS will protect the batteries from overcharge.
The load you are feeding will probably get quite upset with the noise that comes off the really badly made switched mode power supply plug that comes with the battery pack.
Should the load pull more current than the switched mode power supply can supply, current will be drawn from the battery too, until the battery drops below the BMS's low voltage level, at which point it will shut off. Then your load will be receiving whatever the switched mode power supply can provide.
Think the sheets are fiberglass. Not so bad.
Tell us the company selling this batteries
I bought that battery pack from "Aleaivy battery 2 store"
www.aliexpress.com/store/911706446
If 2500mAh per cell, that would be about 5000mAh. Oopsie add an extra zero for 50000mAh.
If you buy its best from ebay because you're safe and you usually get what you're after
There are also fake 18650s on eBay's too! I've found that online vape shops tend to pride themselves in battery life so have decent QA over their battery suppliers, so they are a good source for decent batteries.
dude dont worry intorverts are like that welcome to a family xD
such a nice fuckin story
Następnym razem Chińczyk dosypie piasku i waga będzie sie zgadzać ;}
Been there, done that!

DUDE WTF I NEVER SEEN THIS BS BEFORE I KNEW ITS F UP BUT THAT MY FRIEND....DANG....
for 60cell packs diy old batteries i get +- 400wh 12v of power its 2.2kg per pack its from broken not working laptop batteries so yah max 480wh was puted AT BEST in same space @@
let me gues....half of them with sand xD
I was about to buy one of 48v 50a but when I saw 13s8p of 18650 I said it impossible to have 50a so I opened the chat and the bloody seller was trying to ensure me that yes the capacity is real and I told him the battery is fake
They are shameless!! I wonder if any of those 8 parallel banks were filled with sand?
The most you could get with 8 parallel would be 3500mAh * 8 = 28Ah, but I'd be willing to bet most of those cells are low capacity
Chinese is the best market place in the world!
Seems you've bought the most expensive LI cells 😅... Congrats 👏🎉🤗
Who ever wrote the specs watched too much Star Trek
the video would be better if you dropped the patronizing tone. the people watching this vid arent the ones who ripped you off
I just bought the 48v 30 Amp then this video popped up
No worries: simply weigh the battery pack the moment you get it. If it weighs less than 5.4kg (48V * 30Ah / 265Wh/kg = 5.4kg), then send it back as "goods not as described".
Just check how it was advertised. If they stated "30 amp", then they might be referring to peak current output capability rather than capacity. If "30 amp-hours" then it's capacity.
@@MichaelBrooksDr it's actually the same one in this video and it says capcity 30 amps I want to parallel with my other 48v battery for ninebot max g30
@@jonathancifuentes7442 Jeez they really are taking the mickey now. Are there only 6 Lithium cells in there? Or have they at least added another 6 to create 6s2p so you get your 48V?
If you are looking to parallel with another pack, make sure the second pack has similar characteristics (actual capacity, voltage) and has its own charge/discharge controller.
dude....no one just took and just teared down i duno all knows that is crap maybe but wanted to see what stupid crap it is inside THANKS
Its called BMS.
LOL Love Your opening ! Going to be looking at some more cheap Chinese shit .
The trick is says 50 thousand mah, a ma is 1,000 so it true , but you might think it means 50 k ah than it not true, but these are kids toy car 12 volt battery so their just cheap computer AA cell their not more than 15 bucks
Thank you
that kind pack cost some 4e diy xD
Friend you helped me alot, was look8ng at these packs for a project I am working on.inverters are the other thing lied about.purchased a 1000 watt inverter thru aliexpress.they said was 1000 watt, when tried to use would not go ove 475 watt
I've found that the best way to get proper 18650 Lithium ion cells is to buy them from a reputable vaping products dealer, then get the charging / protection circuit as a module from AliExpress. You'll pay £2-£4 per Lithium ion cell but they will be high quality.
Thanks buddy
Most batteries are made in China, you just need to buy the real once....
Yep! Any tips on how to identify an honest battery on AliExpress?!
@@MichaelBrooksDr Look on reviews with tests. Don't buy buy branded batteries with big Samsung and don't buy unreal capacity battery's. Some relative good brands are: Liitokala or Varicore for li-ion and HRB for LiPo. And buy from the "official" stores :)
In China you can buy cheap very low quality ,yes😅
dont waist any more time thanks was fun xD
samsung obsolescence
woh u should understand china . 12v *(2000mah +2000 mah)=48000~50000. now u understand mathmatics, whoops. The chinese Math u know.
Eh?
The battery quotes its capacity in milliamp-hours, which is current * time. In your comment you are multiplying current * time by voltage, which gives you capacity in milliwatt-hours. But the battery quite clearly states "mAh". A few lines below it says the same thing again "Voltage/Capcity: 12V/50Ah" [sic]
Power = current * voltage
Power * time = current * time * voltage
(mWh = mAh * V)
Is your argument that the label is a typo and that the Chinese manufacturer really meant "50000mWh" and "12V/50Wh"?
@@MichaelBrooksDr Chinese Math is out of world. It 50000 means 50000 . afterthat all are valueless letters . wow its the way China calculates its GDP and what not? ha ha ha.Sorry see my answer as light humour .
To good to true 😂should have some common senses.Just don’t buy it that all.
40 min of bla bla bla to show a fake battery
4Ah at best
I've been using the cells to run my bicycle lights. Judging by the runtime I'd say it's even less!
@MichaelBrooksDr well lights are a constant draw at whatever amp rating so runtime is a factor of what hour
@@joeKisonue yes, watt hour is amp hour * voltage. (Wh = VAh). Both are therefore a measure of total capacity of a battery.
The Chinese add each cel mah and multiply by the number of cell so if 36v 10S3P has 30 x 18650 cell of 3000mah rating the battery should be 9ah or 9000mah however the Chinese do 3000mah x 30 and write 90000mah to scam buyers
this is correct - undersize Chinese math - this battery 50 000 /12 = 4 Ah - simple :)
such a nice fuckin story
