Supermarkets used to be pleasant places. I remember being a toddler in the mid-seventies and they still looked like this and had this warm & cozy feel. Now I hate the cold atmosphere of today’s supersized supermarkets.

I was just gonna say Walmart and then I finished reading the rest of your comment.
I remember one day at the store this lady using a cane could barely push the shopping cart. I remember her because she was next to me as she was looking for a motorized cart. She finally found one and then I saw this lady trying to get up from the cart to get plastic bags ( I stopped to help her)in the produce section. Suddenly out of nowhere this lady about 20-25 years old walked in glaring at the lady saying she couldnt find a motorized cart. She kept saying "Cain't find s*** cart even tho she was fixin to die because she just came back from dialysis"; she went on to say, " dam people ain't even sick and using the carts",- all the while glaring at the older disabled lady . This young lady could walk better than I and she wanted to guilt the older disabled lady of her cart. She kept yelling and carrying on ( I must admit I was nervous). I know it wasn't wise ( for my safety) but for the safety of humanity and this older disabled lady and most definitely faith in God- I stayed with the nice lady and said to her " don't worry".
Finally the psycho left ( Thank God). And where did this happen? At Walmart mid- afternoon, it doesn't matter what time you go to avoid ugly, it's there and everywhere.

There are many more people who called bullshit on Tina's story. Myrna Loy, who had worked with Christina and knew what a brat she was. Philip Terry who raised Christina for six years. Betty Barker and Billie Greene, Joan's secretaries who were present in the house. Christina said Greene was present during the choking incident and was quoted as saying 'Stop, you'll kill her.' Greene herself said this was nonsense, and nothing of the sort had occured. Doug Fairbanks Jr, Vincent Sherman, Marlene Dietrich, Katherine Hepburn, Carleton Varney, Ann Blyth, Cesar Romero, Gary Gray. Other two childred, Cathy and Cindy, also denied.

Twins Cathy and Cindy weren't even born at the time Joan adopted Christina, and they were two years old when Christina was packed off to boarding school. The twins could only know of their own experience, not Christina's. Regarding Greene, were it me, I would be profoundly ashamed if it were known that I had interceded in such a mess, and not told the authorities what was going on that day, and on others. Of course, Joan needed the salary she earned with Pepsi, so her motivations for doing this kind of stuff are obvious, but she was such a sport about it. She did all these crazy promotions with grace and professionalism. Too bad she wasn't being offered any good film roles at this time. I'm sure she would have rather been on a soundstage.

    • @DCGuy1997

I suspect she made Pepsi do this so she could be in them! Also, by doing them she justified her salary with Pepsi. I'm sure execs were like "just let her do them so she won't bother us." Most other Pepsi commercials then and now were geared towards a more youthful audience. I doubt teens in the late 60's had a taste for Joan Crawford. She certainly didn't appeal to "those who think young".

I remember when this commercial came out, I was 7 years old and it freaked me out then and still does today. Her vibration was scary at this age. The eerie music didn't help and I could feel her incredible sadness emanate from the screen. I was 7 and sensed all that. Incredible.
If you will recall, she started out in silent pictures! So, she had been around a long time. 1925 was her first film so at this point she had been in show business 44 years! Old Hollywood been long gone and so were most of her friends. At this age she should have been great at being "granny joan" but since she did not cultivate a healthy relationship with her kids they couldn't stand to be around her and I think that feeling was mutual. Her estate was valued at $2 million back then which in today's converted rate is $8 million. The two youngest kids only received $77K a piece which converts to $347K today..

I was trying not to say exactly what was said so I don’t get in trouble with UA-cam this is alleged.
