I recently acquired a 2004 BMW R 1200 CLC. Wife and I are really enjoying the ride!
Are you still happy with the bike ?
@@akula1055 Absolutely! So happy that my wife and I also purchased a BMW R 1200 C model (2002) now we have both in the driveway. We've put over 14,000 miles on the 2 bikes in 3 seasons.
@@jamesbonanno3359 i am thinking of buying one but concerned about reliability and availability of parts. What is your experience with these two factors. Thanks
@@akula1055 The thing that you need to do is make sure it has a good service record, one of the important things on the R1200 C & CL models are that the brake fluid was flushed every couple of years if it wasn't done properly it can lead to expensive ABS brake system failures. If you have a good service record these motors will go over a quarter million miles with no problem and you will have an excellent running motorcycle. They tend to be no more expensive than taking them to dealers whether it's a Harley, a triumph, a ducati or the like. They are one of the most comfortable rides out there. Now if you like a lot of speed you will not get it from these bikes. They are 61 horsepower, but they are faster than mostly any car on the road, in fact the C model will do 0-60 in 5 seconds flat. The bigger CL I clocked at 6.7 sec. Remember however they are cruiser and touring motorcycles and designed to give you torque and comfort not speed. Good luck.
I have not had an issue getting parts, but like I said I haven't had many things going wrong with these bikes. I do remember a part or 2 being ordered from Germany and the lead time was a little long, but the parts were available. Many were available right in my State of New Jersey. One was called beamer boneyard and they were local.
