Nice day!! I had similar day with friend at Pickwick once..caught 15 of our 17 keepers (15 of which smallies) off a 3inch Ned righ and drop shot..23.9lbs! We were barely ahead of the spawn and spent 7-8 hours 1 mile from the dock in a small small cove. It can be special! Smallest smallmouth was 3.8lbs I’ll never forget that! Them days and times are special for largemouth too! Nice job! Going to Cumberland myself for a tourney this weekend!
I enjoy your videos and appreciate you sharing also, I try and get down there a few times a year. Im 3 1/2 hours away. I’m actually planning on be there this coming weekend, weekend of the 20th. Hopefully we can find a few ourselves. God bless.
Thanks for the insight and info. I'm headed down there in 2 weeks from Illinois for a kayak fishing trip and have been watching your videos to keep up with the stages the fish will be in.
Great video thanks for the insight, I was at Cumberland same day did not put the jerk bait down just a few small fish. Can you do a video on your drop shot setup?

There’s lots of those videos out there. I use a pretty standard set up. Kistler 7’ medium light klx, small seaguar braid to 6# invizx fluoro, #1 drop shot gamakatsu, and the cheapest sinkers I can find. You lose a ton on Cumberland.
Hey great videos! My girlfriend and I (we're from Ohio) are wanting to make a late March, early April trip to Cumberland. We've never been there, figured we'd stay at the lodge? Don't really know anyplace else? Looking at the map I figured I'd just pick one of those big creek arms down in that area and concentrate in there all weekend. Any recommendations on which Creek? Or, am I off base? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
Picking one big arm and dissecting it is a great strategy w Cumberland. Any big ones from Conley bottom to the dam are good. Beaver, wolf, and otter are solid bets.
Hey buddy love the vid just subscribed love the content my question is if in the first of October and wanted to catch big ones at Cumberland what technique’s would you try
It depends on if it’s starting to get cool yet or not. There will still be deep fish, and some will start chasing bait and suspend. Definitely take a shot w Big topwaters early, then once the sun comes out I’d focus on some of those long points that taper off Into deeper water.
Finesse is downsizing both line and baits. 6-8lb fluorocarbon paired w shakey heads, dropshots, or other smaller offerings. The opposite of power fishing.
These are great man keep them going :) Ill be down there this weekend. Gonna try those 2 baits you advised. What pound line, type and leaders do you use? Hopefully works just as well for me as it did for you lol
I use small seaguar braid to 10lbseaguar Fluoro for the shakey. Then same set up but 6lb line for the drop shot. Usually two rod lengths for the leader length.
There will be waves of fish moving out in the next few weeks of course, but you’ll also have lots of fry guarders and post spawn fish shallow. You can’t ever predict the future but should be topwater time by then. I’d focus on the first drop outside the spawning areas.
You are a nice person to share with those of us that live several hours from the lake and do not make it there often. Thank you so much.

@@ajones68 awesome info thanks so much
Will you give us your definition of "finesse"? does it only have to do with the size of the worm and a slow retrieve?
Finesse is downsizing both line and baits. 6-8lb fluorocarbon paired w shakey heads, dropshots, or other smaller offerings. The opposite of power fishing.
I never have much luck at Cumberland. What creek are you in?
Mostly greasy creek
@@ajones68 Is there a usual time in November the fish start biting?
