Looking great! I think I'm going to go with the wheel rod in my next build too. Much easier and less wood removal for sure. Also glad to see you break out the chisel. Can't wait to see the next episode. Thanks for sharing.
After watching a few of your builds I got me a 60deg V bit just to center the router table fence for my truss rod route, and tried it earlier for the first time. Perfect! Thanks for the tip.
Good work on these builds! One of your videos popped up in my recommended list about 2 weeks ago. Since then I’ve binge watched the entire 335 build, the esquire restoration and now onto this. But this being a current build and I have to wait for update videos, I’ve since added all the other builds “playlists” into my library and watch episodes in between the uploads for this build. Which seem like an eternity when your mind has been enveloped in someone’s content and craftsmanship. The manner in which you speak though, if I’m watching at night, puts me to sleep and the auto play goes through 6 episodes before I wake back up. And please don’t take that as an insult, as I do have insomnia and not much can put me out. I’ve even taken 100mg of melatonin to no avail. I say it as a compliment.
Well, firstly I'm really happy that you are enjoying the builds so much. It really motivates me to get down the shed when I get such positive feedback. Normally I'd be a little concerned about sending viewer to sleep but in this situation I'm happy that I can be of help. I have occasional insomnia myself and often resort to youtube to help me nod off. Thanks for watching, Patrick
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams I’m always torn when watching. The sounds of the tools and your (to me) soothing voice, make me drowsy. But the construction process of each different build have me fighting the sleep to keep watching. Eventually I loose the fight and wake up the next day trying to figure out where I left off. In the case of the 335, I slept through 10 episodes and had to go back and put another view on the counter for each one.
Hey Patrick! I must’ve missed this segment however it was an education. I’m a huge Gibson fan but I’ve never given their truss rods much thought and you’re so right! Great feed, thanks for sharing your knowledge 🤙
Awesome work, been following this build as I plan to make a guitar for my daughter. Have you considered putting in some carbon fiber neck rods to reinforce the neck in a future build? I know some companies offer them.
Thanks buddy, good luck with your build. Most of my guitars are built for me to keep and as I love a nice chunky neck I don't feel the need to use carbon rods. Nothing aginst them and if I thought a build needed them I'd have no problems using them. I've worked with composites a lot so have a good understanding of the merits of carbon fiber.
Good morning friend, what is the size of the tensioner used in the project? I'm building a firebird similar to the one you built, but with basic equipment and manual tools

Thanks Ryan, I really like the wheel rods, easy to adjust and makes for a stronger build.

Great stuff, happy it helped.
Merci super live. Beaucoup de plaisir de t'entendre.
Merci d'avoir regardé Henri :)
routing the truss cavity is always a finger crossing event.. glad that is finished.. look forward to seeing more neck blank work and fingerboard.. !!
That reminds me, I need to order a finger board!!! I was glad to get it done without any slip ups, easy to make a mess of things.

No worries buddy, glad you enjoyed :)
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams If I were your neighbor I’d be stopping over with beers over my shoulder just to help / watch and learn man ahah!
I used the pointed router bit trick when setting up the router to do the truss rod slot on my last acoustic neck. Very helpful
It's a good little trick isn't it :)
Great to see and as always, an incredibly useful point of reference.
Cheers buddy :)
Great stuff! Small update on the pickups: I've received the materials and started winding the coils! I reckon I'll post them somewhere next week
Excellent news, I've been up to my neck in a few things for the last two weeks but had made a note to get in touch to see how things were going.
@@Adventuresfromtheshedofdreams no problem at all! Being up to the neck in work/projects is just a bit too familiar haha

Hi, I usually use a 420mm rod for a build with this scale length.
Getting there!
Cheers Damien, hopefully it will start to look a little more guitar like soon.
great video thank you. when you iinstall it did you revove that blue plastc cover?
Thanks buddy, no I leave the cover on.
Nice.
Thanks mate.
the little things take time and matter
They do indeed, nice to get this one out of the way though.
I think you're asking a bit too much of that truss rod patrick. It'll struggle to bend that large block! ;⁰)
Lol, I'd better find a way to slim it down a bit then :)
