at 3:53 that's the classic LIS music that I associate with the ghoulish monster suddenly walking frightfully toward the Robinsons as the action freezes and "To Be Continued" comes on the screen. The age old device called the Cliffhanger!
+Richard Hill Most of this was John Williams but there were some contributors through the later episodes. I have the actual soundtracks and it's mostly Johnny all the way. :)
Brings A Tear To My Eye When I Think Of How Many Years Have Passed Since This Great Show Was First On. When I Was A Kid I Came Home From School And This Show Was On When I Got Home.
You May Have Been Watching Lost In Space When It First Aired. I First Saw It After School Weekdays When I Was A Kid. By The Time I Got Into Junior High The Show Just About Stopped Airing.
David William S I wanted Batman, but my older brother wanted Lost In Space. A very early memory. Dr. Smith ruined that show though I had a replica toy robot I loved.
Although these are short compilations, they all bring back both memories and nostalgia. For me, the most memorable (other than the new Lost In Space Season 3 opener) is the music that I called “The Fight Music” (as a kid). Short versions are at 3:54 and 13:32 also. My most memorable episode (as was Mark Godard’s) was The Anti-Matter Man. I still have the DVD and this piece plays in full in the 2nd to last scene; fight of John Robinson vs John Robinson.
Wonderful music! It really did help make the show great! I remember all the scenes that each piece is associated with. I grew up watching Lost In Space (fall 1965 to summer 1968) and this music brings back very fond memories. Thank you.
+Jack Wells They do not do these awesome music tracks for a lot of shows these days. Its kind of a shame that some one will try and do this show over at some point, but it will not be as good as the original.
Williams was the primary composer in the initial episodes. Others were Richard LaSalle (uncredited), Hans J. Salter (uncredited), and Herman Stein. Stock cues by Bernard Herrmann....
What I call the Chariot music at 6:45, I loved. My favorite was at 8:48...it sounds almost like bells ringing. The music was so unique and as others said, it made the show!
I agree with all the comments here. It was the background music that made the series so memorable for me. I too can picture each scene with just listening to the music and that’s 56 years ago ! The series was so memorable for me but I was so disappointed when it switched from serious drama to campy silliness.I never got over the disappointment, I still feel it ..I wonder what would have been if it had been different
Beautiful music! I have to listen to it once every few days! Lost In Space was fortunate to have had such lovely background music! And it wasn't just John Williams - it was several other composers, too.
Well I can remember some but lots of the scenes had the same music in them as the others but usually the music fit the scene but obviously not in this video seems kind of weird watching the real spooky scary stuff with Penny just staring at the camera
Thank you for assembling this. I'm sure it was alot of work. I really feel this was John Williams' best work... even more than the fantastic 3rd-season theme song. The music at 10:02 continues to be the most memorable piece - that something truly diabolical was about to happen.
Danger Danger! The Best TV Music Score . Was A Great Space Adventure Full Of Campy Space Monsters, The Coolest Flying Saucer The Jupiter 2, Classic Robots And So Much More! Thanx This Is A Blast From My Past Sitting In Front Of The Old BW Philco Tv. With Rabbit Ears For Antenas.
The one bit of music from LIS that I'd love to hear is the little sentimental music theme that usually played at some heart-warming moment, usually concerning Will...
11:51 to 12:30 reminds me of Bartok. The harp and strings echoed by the trombones creating an old, majestic, and contemplative dissonant sound. One of my favorite LIS music bits
+rredhawk Mine too! It's the John Williams theme from "My Friend, Mr. Nobody" when Smith discovers that diamonds are nearby. And yes, just a hint of "Bartok-ian' dissonance.
The music at 10.29 i think is really moving .considering its a piece of incidental music which usually got used in any story line that centred on Penny .It was used in one of my favourite episodes from season 1 MY FRIEND MR NOBODY.
They left out the victory theme when they would lift off or defeated a bad situation and the campy Dr Smith theme when Dr Smith would do something funny ,you know the one with the slide whistle at the end.I liked the music from the episode Blast Off into Space
Love the soundtrack for this show. I purchased the series box set and am watching this right now. I wonder if the special effects budget for this show was bigger than start trek as some things actually look better.
Larry: "...which may have been better than the series itself." That's the understatement of the year. I could've written better scripts when I watched it originally... and I was only SEVEN. This show was truly a MISMATCH in creative skills: World-class musical composers teamed with imbecilic writers and directors. Oh the pain... of watching reruns.
Some of the early episodes weren't all that bad. It's just that the show became awfully campy as time went on. The best music of the series was mostly composed for the beginning episodes, and I think it did work for them. Something similar happened with a lot of Irwin Allen's series (they turned into childish camp later on, which is why, understandably, some people detested them.), although often the music was good for the original concept of his series. :)
I also like the bit starting at 10:23, with the harp and strings, but I wish you had included the flute solo which was at the end/resolution of that portion of the sound track.
The song at 13:18 was from the episode WISH UPON A STAR, the scene was Dr Smith running away from the android and hiding that wish making machine before he went back to the Jupitor
The best..... Brings me right back..... I can almost see the different scenes in my head !My favorite sound effect, when they would either find something or when something would appear at 14:30 .... I like the music with the lady from the green mist .. Didn't hear any of that !
+steviebboy69: Yes indeed, I like that sudden appear/disappear sound too. It was excellent. Evidently a trademark sound used throughout Irwin Allen's sci-fi/adventure TV series like The Time Tunnel and Lost In Space.
What would be the name of this genre of music? It's the same sort of music that's used as the background/ambient music for a lot of old pre-lunar landing space documentaries. I'd love to know so I can find more of it!
Sound quality could be better. Editing- same thing. But I pressed LIKE because I love LOST IN SPACE so much - and all the incidental music used in the show. Great memories there.
Good mix and thanks for your work in putting this together. The sound editing is decent but the sync between incidental music and still pics you show could be better. For example, the "chariot in motion" music could show the chariot as that music plays. Not really spoiling since I am sure most here REALLY know the episodes. I always laugh at the intro line "...As you recall from last time.."
Get home from school, plop down belly first on the floor about 3 feet from the TV and I'm off into another dimension! 💫 My sensors are highly pleased! 😂
Its better than the Imperial anthem in terms of psychological warfare. Nobody beats and empire that can march to that stuff. Scarier than the Borg. We should broadcast this into space and let them know we're coming.
I doubt it if they would ever do, / redo,, another,, show with all them sounds in it again,,,,,,,,,,, 😕😕😕😕 but my blood used to shiver, when a scary part came on,,,,,,,,,,,
Sorry to have to tell you this, but very little of it is from Day The Earth Stood Still. Most of this music was written for the show. Also, why are there sound effects, and so many edits? Hours of the music is available on CD box sets sounding amazing with no edits or sound effects.
+MegaDJSlickRick I remember listening to it before. It's somewhere here on YT. Try entering 'Johnny Williams' name along with 'Lost in Space' and scroll around. It's posted as just that one track.
It used to bring a tear to my eye when I was a kid..Seemed to be during the father to son life lesson talks…& an episode where will goes back to earth at christmas time to get some CarbonTetrachloride.
Many of these musical themes are just as memorable as the characters and the stories in the show.
The first season in BW , anyway we only had a BW tv at the time , still the best show on tv with the Munsters !
A Masterclass in creating suspense with music!!!
Great music. Love those dramatic impending doom musical effects!
I hooked on classical music at that moment ,at 7 years of ages
at 3:53 that's the classic LIS music that I associate with the ghoulish monster suddenly walking frightfully toward the Robinsons as the action freezes and "To Be Continued" comes on the screen. The age old device called the Cliffhanger!
Super 👌. Música de grandes recuerdos. Gracias 😅
The music actually brings up images in my mind, from the series.. Thank you !!!!
The First Season music was the BEST of Any Sci-Fic Show! Thanks for putting this Awesome Music on display.
Hail to John (Johnny) Williams! This is the score to my childhood.
+tklogan t
Look up the credits to be sure.
There were several composers contributing to many L I S. episodes .
+Richard Hill Most of this was John Williams but there were some contributors through the later episodes. I have the actual soundtracks and it's mostly Johnny all the way. :)
He and Doctor Who's Dudley Simpson are the best composers of incidental music themes
Even as young kids, we knew that this show's music was something special.
Johnny wrote most though not all of the music.
Best music, I believe, was the theme track and the bit on the hippy planet with Dr Smith and Penny dancing.
Brings A Tear To My Eye When I Think Of How Many Years Have Passed Since This Great Show Was First On.
When I Was A Kid I Came Home From School And This Show Was On When I Got Home.
Really? It was on at 8p at night here. That must've been some late school!!
:35.... alright I love this cut of the music here it's obviously mixed in with the wrong
Although these are short compilations, they all bring back both memories and nostalgia. For me, the most memorable (other than the new Lost In Space Season 3 opener) is the music that I called “The Fight Music” (as a kid). Short versions are at 3:54 and 13:32 also.

You're welcome.

Greatest score of all time

RIP Mark Goddard 10/10/2023.
Beautiful music!
I have to listen to it once every few days!
Lost In Space was fortunate to have had such
lovely background music! And it wasn't just John
Williams - it was several other composers, too.
I grew up with this series. Outstanding; thank you for making this available.
I remember all this music. You could always tell what was going to happen.
The music made the show!
I know the detractors are lamenting the inclusion of the sound effects...I love them! Thanks!
My favorite was the crash landing of the Jupitar 2 starting at 3:53. Awesome sound effects.
I always thought of that specific music as the fighting music.
This (3:53) version is edited SHORTER for a "taste" & the longer version of the original crash with Major West in the freezing tube is AWE-SOME.
I was 7 in 1965 and in the 1st grade, this is amazing
Best composer John Williams to make this show really stand out and remembered! His music was the mood and setting for the entire show!! Peace
I can even remember the episodes the music vignettes are from. Brings back so many memories!
Well I can remember some but lots of the scenes had the same music in them as the others but usually the music fit the scene but obviously not in this video seems kind of weird watching the real spooky scary stuff with Penny just staring at the camera
John Williams also composed that fantastic soundtrack
on The Poseidon Adventure.
YEEEAAAHHH,,, them Sounds are INCREDIBLE,,, AMAZING, how they did them, for the 70s. ,,,,ILL NEVER KNOW. But. WOOOOOOOOOWWWWW 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Fantastic! Sounds of my youth. My synapses are firing on all cylinders…
GEOFFREY SUMNER JOURNEY INTO SOUND.TECS WORLD WIDE.❤
Thanks for posting, they never put these tracks on the collections.

Most of this music is actually available, uncut and great quality. Originally on GNP Crescendo Records and La La Land Records.
loved the show
The one bit of music from LIS that I'd love to hear is the little sentimental music theme that usually played at some heart-warming moment, usually concerning Will...
but you see how us White folks.. seem to move on and away from black racist coments. It's about the "show" and "The music"
OMG the first part of this I remember exactly the scene of when a duplicate Doctor smith was being created.
Thanks for that, melectronic1963! It brings back some great memories. I love the music from 13:30.
Yep... I thought I was the only one look at my comment
Who can forget the 'magic' notes @14:30?
Nice mix, well done! Thanks for sharing...
my favorite episode......CRUSH, KILL, DESTROY........lol..
When the cue at about 3:30 kicks, in you know the s**t is gonna hit the FAN!
The music at 10.29 i think is really moving .considering its a piece of incidental music which usually got used in any story line that centred on Penny .It was used in one of my favourite episodes from season 1 MY FRIEND MR NOBODY.

It would be great if someone could create a timestamp to identify the relevant composer for each theme.
This has some of the best music from the old series, which may have been better than the series itself. Thanks for posting!
Larry: "...which may have been better than the series itself."

brilliant! come again from 13.32 on , better than thunderstruck!!
A Twilight Zone episode brought me here… such childhood memories those were😍… 10:05 is the best background sound… should have been longer 😌
I also like the bit starting at 10:23, with the harp and strings, but I wish you had included the flute solo which was at the end/resolution of that portion of the sound track.
This first song. I love it. Always have.
The song at 13:18 was from the episode WISH UPON A STAR, the scene was Dr Smith running away from the android and hiding that wish making machine before he went back to the Jupitor
excellent! can recollect scenes just from listening! great job!
Yep...me too
The best..... Brings me right back..... I can almost see the different scenes in my head !My favorite sound effect, when they would either find something or when something would appear at 14:30 .... I like the music with the lady from the green mist .. Didn't hear any of that !
+ToddR4824 I liked that sound effect like when an alien would appear or something like that. just a short sound lasting like a second or so,.
+ToddR4824: Ah yes... Vitina Marcus as our green lady Athena. She was awesome!
+steviebboy69: Yes indeed, I like that sudden appear/disappear sound too. It was excellent. Evidently a trademark sound used throughout Irwin Allen's sci-fi/adventure TV series like The Time Tunnel and Lost In Space.
almost the best classical music written.
amazing it was performed for a cereal company TV series budget.
very cool! but you forgot the sad music always played when will or penny are getting a life lesson from prof robinson.
What would be the name of this genre of music? It's the same sort of music that's used as the background/ambient music for a lot of old pre-lunar landing space documentaries. I'd love to know so I can find more of it!
What a great, suspensful series this was, & it didn`t hurt that it had three hot, gorgeous female cast members!
The music made this show.
Hints of Star Wars in there, ehh, Johnny? :) or should I say, Hints of Lost in Space in Star Wars....
More like hints of Wagner and Holst
13:30..awesome
This is great! Thank you (12 years late).
At 10:26, that should have been played completely. It was a great interlude.
At 3.54, the danger theme…is there a longer/full piece of that? I love that creepy part.
Chills, chills, chills up my spine......!!!!!
Love it!
Sound quality could be better.
Editing- same thing.
But I pressed LIKE because I love
LOST IN SPACE so much - and all the
incidental music used in the show.
Great memories there.
Excellent thank you for posting this.
just the best ever
❤️ 👏 Brilliant!
thank's dude
Some of the music scores were overshadowed by special effects.
I saw another video with Sinatra "Fly Me To The Moon", how apt!
I love the start of 31 music beat
Good mix and thanks for your work in putting this together. The sound editing is decent but the sync between incidental music and still pics you show could be better. For example, the "chariot in motion" music could show the chariot as that music plays. Not really spoiling since I am sure most here REALLY know the episodes. I always laugh at the intro line "...As you recall from last time.."
4:35 the other danger incidental
2:25 is one of those incidentals designed to make the hair on the back of the neck stand up.
Get home from school, plop down belly first on the floor about 3 feet from the TV and I'm off into another dimension! 💫 My sensors are highly pleased! 😂

I doubt it if they would ever do, / redo,, another,, show with all them sounds in it again,,,,,,,,,,, 😕😕😕😕 but my blood used to shiver, when a scary part came on,,,,,,,,,,,
Nice work.
Thanks for doing this. Lot's of background noise in the mix though. What was that? Open mic?
Sorry to have to tell you this, but very little of it is from Day The Earth Stood Still. Most of this music was written for the show. Also, why are there sound effects, and so many edits? Hours of the music is available on CD box sets sounding amazing with no edits or sound effects.
🤷
I think Bernard Herrmann's The Day The Earth Stood Still music (from 10 yrs earlier) was only used on the pilot.
The music wasn't for the audience (kids) it was for their bored parents -to entertain them.
Without the music, you would have had Pee Wee's playhouse with scary monsters.
Blast... nothing from "The derelict?!"
11:49
My favorite
11:10 Marta was so sexy. Love that outfit on her.
0:38 kicks ass
Star Trek The Next Generation theme song church
Where is the song that plays in the background of Will Robinson (Billy Mumy)?, it's a soft/ kind-hearted melody
+MegaDJSlickRick I remember listening to it before. It's somewhere here on YT. Try entering 'Johnny Williams' name along with 'Lost in Space' and scroll around. It's posted as just that one track.
Go to Herman Stein Robbinson/family and you will find it. It's a great composition!
+gideon westgate Thank you SO MUCH I've been looking for that song for months!
+MegaDJSlickRick You are very welcome!
It used to bring a tear to my eye when I was a kid..Seemed to be during the father to son life lesson talks…& an episode where will goes back to earth at christmas time to get some CarbonTetrachloride.
5:25 creepy incidental
Some of that is really close to the music used in Doctor Who's 'Night Of The Doctor' when Paul McGann is about to drink the potion.
11:48
The segment from 5:13 to 5:55 sounds like a direct ripoff from The Day the Earth Stood Still (original).
Bill Mumy had a walkman looks like huh?
3:52
11:51!
