Some people are reporting that the Comet is not showing up, perhaps in the free version. I'm using the PLUS version and even then it doesn't show up when you search for it, you just have to aim north at roughly the right time and zoom in a little and it should appear. If it's still not coming up just use the free web version that I linked in the video description. Good luck and clear skies!
Wicked clean shot man, looks perfect. I had my shot all planned out over the mountain called Half Dome in Yosemite NP here in California only to realize they now require vehicle permits because of this Wuhan Virus and them being sold out a month out. Got some clean shots @ the Lick Observatory near San Jose instead the other night but it just wasn’t the same due to the lack of good scenery composition in regards to where the comet was positioned to the landscape....Keep up the great content
2 Nights ago I finished work at midnight. I got home and planned to go shoot the comet at about 02:30. During some downtime between finishing work and going out to shoot, I found your channel and watched some of your videos. Then I headed out.... and what did I find?.... The Noctilucent Clouds, staring right at me! Only now am I realising how rare these are!! And how bright they were compared to previous ones! Thank you Alyn for providing inspiration and motivation. I experienced these first hand because of you!
Great to share in your fabulous night. I managed to see it yesterday in my local light polluted skies and it took my breath away. You know you've seen something unique!
Amazing video of a historical moment (on a galactic level). These shots are worthy to be proud of. Not with all photos you can say that the next time it can be photographed in 6 766 years. All of us see it now for the first and the last time.
This was without a doubt one of the best vlog ive seen from you. THe emotions man!!! An these noctilucent clouds were insane!!! THank you for also tell us how to use the photopills and stellarium together. I am really glad I watched this video (and massively jealous )
Magnificent! Love that you show us how you actually do the planning etc. I’ve struggled with Photo Pills but this has motivated me to watch more tuts on it so when the time comes to plan something like this I am better able to do so. Thank you so much for your incredible work - you are truly an inspiration! Cheers.
Absolutely fantastic as always, Alyn. Wish I knew you were putting this out sooner, it complements a video I’m uploading right now wonderfully. The days ahead are going to be even more exciting for us deep sky folks as it escapes twilight!
your reaction is just priceless mate! Wonderful combo u captured right there! Normal people will say this is beautiful. Photographers will realize the complexity of the planning of these shots then say it's beautiful. way to go my man! ❤️
I am into late middle age now and I am so sleep deprived I feel like I did 3 months into being a new Mum at 22!! I just know that this is so special (and UK skies so unpredictable) that I can't miss any opportunity to get out there however ill I feel - I think I'm going to be processing images for months! I got into astrophotography about 6 years ago & have spent so many hours star hopping to find tiddly little faint comets and hundreds of stacks of images for little green blobs & last night I was standing in my kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil and looking out my window at the comet AND its tail with my naked eyes! I just can't get over it...
alice w i’m 14 and i’m up every night trying to catch this. sometimes it is raining, sometimes i see venus and think that is neowise, and sometimes i sleep through the night. yeah im gonna miss this comet
Just amazing. I am one of the people who have gotten into Astro photography in the last year, in large part because of your vlogs. I was also out on Saturday morning and was blown away, I had never seen NC’s before and it was awe inspiring. Thank you for doing what you do 🙌🏼
So excited for you. Thanks for taking us along with this journey. Your passion and excitement is wonderful. Hope to see one of these photos in your calendar for 2021.
omg alyn your reaction in this vlog is priceless i love watching your videos. the noctilucent clouds are so beautiful. its like watching water moving but in the sky.
I threw my DSLR on top of my car tonight after work and shot at 50mm and even at 18mm. I got some decent shots for not having a tripod. I propped the camera up on an old pair of jeans. I should have bumped the ISO up and a tomorrow night I will set up right with my tracker. My 11 year old daughter is excited about going to see it. Thanks for putting this video together. Your work is awesome!!
That time-lapse at the end, completely speechless! What a night out, I'm grinning ear to ear for you and I'm on the wrong side/part of the planet to even have castles, comets or noculant clouds.
What a gorgeous timelapse! And as for trespassing, you should leave them a print at their door with a note that says, "Had to drop by the other night, and this is why. You're welcome."
@@LucyJazzy85 I can understand the excitement. My shot is nothing compared to some of the others I've seen including this one(and those clouds!). I risked a whopping big fine to get mine. What a night.
Jeff Nielsen you’re being too modest and you have only solidified my not-so-humble opinion... not only is your picture historical and a great piece of art, but it’s even better still because it comes with a terrific backstory ... the planning, the intrigue, myths breaking of laws, the risk! “An artist’s work is never done...” and as a photog myself I know the feeling of “I would-ah, should-ah, could-ah...” so don’t compare your work to that of any other’s... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yes? Besides... a true photog will do nearly anything to get “The Shot” even if it means risking fines, trespassing, and even personal safety (I’m sure you have climbed that tree, hung from that bridge, clung to that 50 metre wall, just so you could “get THAT shot” ... ) I love it... YOUR shot... all the more so BECAUSE you took us all on your journey and we all felt the excitement... and those of us who ARE photogs know firsthand how much effort goes into the timing, the composition, the execution and the blending of a perfect backdrop with the actual subject.... ( especially with digital bc at dusk you can either shoot the sunset but the green trees go dark, or you can shoot the green trees but you blow out the sunset... therefore it’s necessary to blend two exposures...). LOL 😂 What was my point?? Oh yes. Artistic merit. I am standing my ground on my opinion... I would definitely buy your piece should you decide to make prints (and sign them 😁) and I’m quite sure others would as well... of course I am in America so there’s the conversion factor... perhaps I could even get a “finders fee”!?! 😁Yes, I am teasing you now... (sort of...) But at the very least, I have made my point, and you have made a new fan and a new sub. 💜
Wow! That really is out of this world and I just love your enthusiasm and hard work. Your sheer delight brought goose bumps and I’m so pleased for you. Can’t wait to see some more images of this 🥰
I only got the night shining clouds and a really washed out comet in the clouds. Can hope for beather weather this week in the end. Great video, glad you got the shot. Great framing with the castle!
Thank you so much! I used Stellarium and PhotoPills and got great photos of comet with a light house.. this was the perfect video.. amazing work! Looking forward to learn more from you!

Bloody amazing Alyn. So chuffed for you. I was out on Saturday morning, got some great shots of the comet and then.. OMG, the noctilucent clouds appeared.. I was like a kid in a candy store. Could not believe it. Needless to say my projected shoot time went out of the window and I strung it out until the comet and clouds disappeared into the dawn light. What a feeling. So happy for you Alyn! I did watch Trevor’s (@astrobackyard) video first, but the excitement on your face tells the whole story. Well done! Congrats! 🇨🇦
Yup, you're getting us all excited (maybe not as much as you ! :) ), and thus we're going out there, so good on ya for that Alyn! My alarm clock went off at 3:00am, and I had planned a great shot, and got it !! Now to process, stack, but first, S L E E P . . .
I legit let out an "Oh My GOD..." at the @08:50 mark when you showed us the comet. It's one beautiful thing to see it in photos. it's another to see it in video in real time and to see how big and bright it is! I plan on shooting it this sunday night. Because of you, I learned about and downloaded the Stellarium app and WOW! I love it! AND it shows where Neowise is! Plus I learned more about PhotoPills! I had no idea you could input camera and lens info and it would display how much space a subject will take up! Thank you for this video! It was so amazing to see your genuine reaction to the comet and I hope I have a similar experience in a couple nights
Amazing shots Alyn ! I just started my very first astrophotography session saturday morning inspired by your passionate work that I've discovered. I've also seen the noctulescent clouds next to the comet, I was at the beach in Normandy, France. Very suprised by the result with my Sony a5100 - E16-50mm. Can't wait to learn more about it with your content ! Keep the good work !
Hi Alyn...thank you for posting this. Your images, image quality and instruction are top notch...but the capturing of your emotion was PRICELESS!! I am a fellow astrophotographer (based in South Florida (USA) and venture out into the Everglades to be able to slow down, "look up" and appreciate (capture) the celestial heavens above us. It is hard to describe to folks...but I know when I have captured a “keeper” as it evokes the emotion you conveyed, at that moment, right at that place. Especially if it is the first time witnessing something new…and the work is portfolio worthy when it can bring others to "feel" that moment too. Again...you captured that spot on. Well Done!! Looking forward to learning more about you and your adventures…both out in nature and in post processing. Stay safe out there…
Finally got it the last 2 days through the Florida morning humidity and clouds. Nice that your location allows you to wait for it to get where you want it!

Easy to feel the excitement and glow of achievement with photos like that, Alyn. A very good outing, I would say. Thanks for sharing them.
The shot with the n-clouds with the comet is one of the most beautiful things I've seen
Lots of good photos showing up now of this comet, but yours with the castle is the best I've seen.
Awesome shots as always Alyn. Really appreciate your enthusiasm and passion for the night sky . .well done my friend.
