I’m with you…this is my favorite Spyderco model by a pretty significant margin (and I own many). There’s just something about the way that it “exists” in your hand. It’s completely free of hot spots, regardless of how you grip it…for my particular hand at least.
@@Hungrybird474 The only thing I really do is add a slim deep carry clip…it’s one of the only Spyderco models I do that with. It’s mostly for the feel, too. I don’t particularly care about deep carry. It just makes it a little bit smoother
Awesome, I had stayed away from the shaman for a long time due to people saying it was uncomfortable and the nub made it unsatisfactory to play with etc etc. I just picked up a new zware sprint and I’ve fallen in love with it. It is now my favourite knife. I actually fully customise it, I even acid and stone washed the blade and it looks unreal. Great video bro
Excellent review and collection! I missed the drop on the REC Shaman but got lucky and scored me a Cutleryshoppe exclusive Shaman with CTS-XHP blade when checking knives on newgrahamknives website about three weeks ago. I didn't hesitate to purchase the knife when I saw it was available. Keep the excellent reviews coming brother!
The Shaman definitely has a “presence” when held that is more significant than its specs on paper. I bought one of the M4carta ones that BHQ dropped last month. It’s the only Spyderco I own, and I love it. What do you use to protect your high carbon blades? I’m considering a forced mustard patina for mine.
Honestly I just keep the blades clean and dry. Just don’t leave them wet or take them to the beach and you should be fine! I do have EDCI but I honestly don’t use it much. You can use mineral oil or vegi oil or anything really if you are really worried about it. 👊🏼😁

Went in a local shop looking for the manix 2 and they were out. Came home with a shaman and after 2 days ground the nub off the blade. It is now my most carried folder.
I had a manix 2 before and put Carbon Fiber scales on it as well as titanium hardware and clip and titanium ball cage and still didn’t really like it that much! You aren’t missing anything there bro. The Shaman is a absolutely excellent knife though!!!
Just got shaman rec. I’ve oiled washers and tuned pivot. Is there a break in period or should I send it to Spyderco . My other shaman flies open. The rec feels slightly resistant to fly open.
Just got mine. It’s action is really tight I can’t even flick open. Will it break in ? I don’t want to mess with the pivot if I don’t have to. I’m keeping it tho because I love the design.
That’s the 4 Horseman you got right there, I’m luving my Cutlery Shop Exclusive I just got and put some scales from R/C Blade Works that look sick too. Did you do the mod on those orange G10 scales ? I think they look awesome I would definitely get a similar mod done on the ones I have. Great review thx 👍🏼
@@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL I was definitely going to dye mine, but I was a little hesitant to do the skinny mod. Did you use a Dremel with a sandpaper bit to do it ?
I’m going to take off the guard nub with a Dremel cutting disc then finish on a drill press with dark stone , light stone , sanding flapper and then polish . Satu dave showed a vid yesterday for a garage hack on a flipper removal
I thought about it awhile back but the nub really doesn’t bother me at all and it works well to protect your finger from getting cut by cardboard or whatever else you are cutting when you are using the forward choil. So personally I wouldn’t remove it but it’s whatever works for you… 🤷🏻♂️👊🏼😁
I have a Pro Tech SNG, no hole in the blade like the Strider version. This knife is neat but mounting for four pocket clips is beyond stupid. How does 9 extra holes for no reason not bother you? I might buy one anyway though just to try out the compresion lock. I have a few XM 24's as well. and this style with the big choil has become one of my favorite designs. It just feels right
Love those scales as well. Has a cool grung look. Late to your video, but went to their web site. Don't look like he's doing scales for the time being . I dropped him an email to see when he might do more. I've got over a dozen Shamans, not bragging, just hooked on the Shaman for all the reasons you brought up. Enjoyed watching this video man.
I agree with s30 is not my fav. I actually prefer vg10 and cpm154. I like the fine edge they all lose it fast but the simpler steels like vg10 tough up so easy free hand even a cermic rod Bring them right back s30 is a lot more stubborn. If just a working edge is good for you then s30 has an advantage but I don’t believe it holds a fine edge much longer the 154 for the extra effort of sharpening
@@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL dang! That’s my local shop! Just got my first one. Action is so so, and I’m still trying to get over the nub. But I love your enthusiasm and watching your video made me like mine more.
Yeah bro, it’s one you have to get in hand to appreciate it. After I got my first one in hand then the looks appealed to me more and more but the ergos and capabilities and the way it carry’s are all really good! I think the action is great too however 1 out of my 4 didn’t have the best action but sometimes that’s hit and miss and you can always polish the washers and tune it up if need be.
Just picked up the 15v shaman for my first!
I have a dozen or more Spyderco knives and I love ‘em but I LOVE my Shaman - it’s perfect in every way right out of the box..!!!

I finally got the Shaman, it’s my first Spyderco and I’m in love man. I also have the PM2 but Shaman is my #1

Like what you did with that Cutlery Shop exclusive !
I agree completely. I bought the M4 Micarta in plain and DLC coated. Great knives. Wish I could find one in Rex45.

Damn dude , you have four shamans , nice 👍.
Great taste in knives Sir.
Which one is on the bottom?
Your shamans seem way smoother than mine, did you polish the washers?
Yes, I polish all my washers!
I love the custom scales you’ve got on the XHP version. Where did you say they’re from?
Serpents run customs!
