Nice job on the review. The only thing I would do different is cleanse my pallet before tasting the second whiskey. It does make a difference.

I find if I’m only doing 2 whiskies I can easily taste without a palate cleanser. Lineups of 4-8 however it becomes very necessary to reset your palate. Plain crackers or bread and smelling your own shirt work very well!

Excellent review. I'm not surprised you prefer the Double Cask. Over the years Macallan have become so synonymous with sherry cask that we can forget the distillery influence. If what's going into the regular 12 is not what it once, as is the case with the 18, then questions will be asked. Both expressions are overpriced of course. I like Macallan but I buy precious little of it because of the ridiculous pricing.

Yeah the standard 12 in Florida fluctuates from $55 to $75 and I think it's a good buy at $55 but I did notice in my most recent bottle some sulphur which was really disappointing. As for the 18, I still think it's fantastically delicious (I haven't had a chance to try any older 18's) but yeah the price on that bottle has really soared and makes it a hard pill to swallow.

If you have two items to compare, then the correct is: which is better?

Would like to see you discuss the 18 year and the 25 year

Well at $1500 the 25 year will be out of my budget for many many years. The 18 even is pretty high for me at $200 but I always keep an eye open for a lucky deal in which case I'd be happy to pick one up!

Then you're lucky because in Poland for the 18 YO Sherry Oak Vintage 1997 you have to pay at least $490. However, I wish you a good luck in buying it and I hope I'll manage to get it soon too.

nice video, do you plan on reviewing the 1824 series?

samzallic I wish but in the 1824 master series only rare cask is in my price range and even that is stretching it for me. As for the gold, sienna, Ruby series, those aren't available at regular stores so I haven't ever seen them to purchase. I will be reviewing the Director's cut next week though I think!

Thanks! Yeah Macallan 12 is anywhere from $50-$75 here so it really depends what price you find it at. The Double Cask is very good though and at $65 it isn't TOO overpriced considering every other distillery has their 12yr. offerings at $55 these days but it still is a slight premium.
