SPOILER I think game 5 was lost when Jim surveiled that snarespinner away at 56:06. snarespinner is a must answer threat and an incredible blocker to boot. I think Jim made a poor call here in part due to the understandable tilt that comes from getting your Koma mind rot’d
I don't know about that snare spinner was not that useful in that board state and we have 3. But surveiling a wall to the top when they have a thephalid and we are at 4 sure is a choice
@@AugustusCaesar9464 they had a 5 power menace attacker and he was at 6, it made pretty good sense considering he'd be dead at the combat. his choice gave him 2 extra looks for bushwhack
Sorry Jim. That was brutal to watch. That was an awesome deck that just couldn’t get it done. Still a lesson learned. It’s not always what cards you draft, it’s what. Cards you draw. Damn the shuffler gods!
This deck fighting the other 7 players that was in your table, would bem great.. but we are in arena.. matchmaking is evil, it knows how to put water in your beer, and play a prank on you 😂😂😂
Incidentally, green is at its best in mono-G or with only small splashes. Elfball ain't kidding, Giant Growth is underrated, and Birchwood Armor is strong this way and incredibly easy to get.
Green has a lot of power in its rares and uncommons. Snarespinner is often still in the pack as late as 12th pick and is exactly the kind of card that you want in this format when you've emptied out your hand. Gotta love the self correcting nature of Limited!
"consuming abberation again, this is a pretty insane rare" yes please do the data review next episode! Because the only thing insane about it is how insanely bad it is haha. It's a D+ according to untapped, and I'd agree with that assessment. If you pay 5 mana, for card that doesnt affect the board other than its stats the turn it comes in, doesn't have in-built protection, doesn't replace itself, and is frequently a 3/3 vanilla creature or smaller for 5 mana, then that's a card you should avoid unless your deck is perfectly built to take advantage of its effect (and your aim on your first picks shouldnt be to find bad cards that can be good under the right circumstances).
This format seems like it really doesn't support its synergies super well, and you're almost always better off just drafting individually powerful cards. Only halfway through the video and I feel like this will be a perfect example of why the early game matters so much.
I think you got distracted by all the shiny rares. NONBELIEVER . . . . . . . Edit: After watching it, I don't think black was a trap, I think you got stuck without enough stuff to keep you alive in the early game. Lots of cool rares, but if the opponent could get a leg up early on and then handle the rares as they came down you just didnt have a way back into the game.
I agree, still mid draft, but I don't think the black splash is necessary or good, as good as the Scavenger is (the other black cards are meh but Jim thinks they're bombs unfortunately). I think focussing on the green/blue rares, cutting the black, and trying to take more 2 drops would have been better. I don't like the idea of taking turns off to ramp and letting them run over us, I'd rather just trade off in the early game and then naturally beat them in the late game.
Nonbeliever, unfortunately. "More top-end!" demands man with deck of entirely 4+ drops! There is some fantastic big stuff in here, but definitely needed to be grabbing 2 drops and early removal. I think this deck will just get run over way more often than it will reach the late game to bring out the bombs.
I think in this format you are undervaluing witness protection. While i agree it's not a great card. I think it functions for decks buying time to go over the top. Your 0/X walls failed in multiple games to deal with cards' passive benefit. And witness proved effective against you in both this game and other videos. It might be a necessary removal spell.
taking the landfall 5 drop was pretty greedy and passing the grow for the spider was reasonable but probably not right. with so much top end power. you need to get to 6 and 7 mana. deck could have been drafted better. this is gonna be a tough one for Jim i think. 1:01:25 aaaand you dead, that its. only out was bushwack, but now he has two lethal threats. so theres no need to hem and haw about what to keep on top. your dead. gg
NONBELIEVER. I've been slaughtered by not having enough 2-drops before, and I've had 5 two-drops in those decks. Kills control, dies to aggro. Will get 4+ wins, but 7 wins needs balance.
i wouldn't say its a super bad card. it just has alot of variance. low floor high ceiling card. sometimes its a 2/2 sometimes its a 16/16 that threatens to mill your opponent out. he doesn't need the power though so he should probably just cut it. overall id say its just an ok card

WHAT! Never heard ska in an intro on YT before! Cool!
another exciting episode of plat to plat!
im just goofin, this is fav draft series on youtube
The moment you saw Koma I'm a believer. Fits your deck perfectly and you still got a whole pack to go.
Believer! Gooooooo Consuming Aberration goooooo!
This was such a hype draft I gotta say BELIEVER. And for once I'm not commenting after the video, get 'em Jim!
Welp, guess I didn't look at the video length lol
Oh look it's the latest episode of one of my favourite television programmes.
Jim is my favorite broadcaster
Jim Davis' Bronze to Mythic is the Foundations of a nice Monday
Real tough. Fun deck, unfun matchups. Gl in the next one!
On today's episode: The Mythic Megafauna Massacre
The understated "Nice!" was nice
I like the idea of the stats discussion, would be cool to see you break it down
WOAH those are some good rares!
Well Jim’s face at 16:28 is gonna haunt me forever
Poor Wardens of the Cycle. Jim gives it a shout out every draft but has yet to take one.
I would love a halfway overview, what archetypes/ cards you have liked so far
Non-believer.
Too top heavy for my experiences getting overrun so many times. Still lots of fun with nice cards.
Oh boy Tim Javis on the DV!
Sultai feels like it should be so good
NONBELIEVER. Our top end is great but I don’t think we ended up with enough ramp or early survivability.
This deck fighting the other 7 players that was in your table, would bem great.. but we are in arena.. matchmaking is evil, it knows how to put water in your beer, and play a prank on you 😂😂😂
Make the rares shine BELIEVER

never a good sign when jim ends up sultai and the draft is almost half of video lol
BELIEVER
They really need to do something about people taking so long to pick the timer needs to be cut in half at least
Non, I feel like I keep having the same notes on Jim's drafts. I think it'll win some, but not trophy.
I got an idea! It's fresh and newwwww! Oh wait wrong song 😂

combined with dropping the scavenger, which is an absolute bombb

Believer just because so many fire cards lol
Nonbeliever at aberration over wardens (pack 1 pick 2 lol)
From now on, for every win you get, i will drop and give you 20
You won’t be doing much of them lol
Like the video
Love the series Jim, will there be a BTM for Pioneer Masters?
He did the 5 color gates deck draft, and in that video he said no ten new brews for it so I don't think BTM either
@@JonReid01 For sure, I'm primarily a UA-cam viewer so I haven't seen the draft where he said that yet.
@@foramoreperfectamerica8490 it was published a few days ago (or maybe yesterday time is an illusion) on youtube fyi, on the main channel.
@@OtherSideLLC Oh that explains it, I mostly watch BTM only.
Someone stop this man from drafting green

Not a believer, crazy 3rd pack but I think you ended up too top heavy and not enough synergy
I don't think it's got enough top end. 🙄
so fun hes so bad
Nahhh this draft was silly! Like what????!!!!
NONBELIEVER. I've been slaughtered by not having enough 2-drops before, and I've had 5 two-drops in those decks. Kills control, dies to aggro. Will get 4+ wins, but 7 wins needs balance.
Consuming Abberation is such a bad card... even in a dedicated UB-deck. So definitely not wort a splah here. Nonbeliever

Way too much top end, good for 3 wins or so. P1p1, I’d have taken the hawk
consistently showing how not to draft lol.
-69 life? 7-0 BELIEVER
NVM blue sucks ass worst color
