The pen on the tip of a weld gun is such an elegant practice tool. First I've seen of that technique straight forward and understandable even to the slowest of learning students. It provides an instant feed back loop that can he easily documented and saved for teacher/student reference.
Using the pencil is the best and easiest way for a visual student to learn. They each have their method and purpose. Very good video.
Man this short video with no one talking is by far the best tutorial that ive seen, its way better than all those 10, 20, 30 plus minute videos out there with people talking.

Just like 7018 if fkux core welding is right the slag should fall off with little or no chipping , the slag peals,off as,the weld cools. I can be wrong.
He's so good with every variable it doesn't matter lol...
Although used to weld on the flat, the first 4 with the pencil were actually 4 different welding positions used for flat, vertical, over head and corner fill welding. The straight slow line is over head, the " c" is used for corner fill welding. The side to side over lap is vertical and the circle..circle is flat.

I was about to ask this. Thank you. I know this is Mig, I'm looking to learn how to weld, would you recommend this type of welding machine for someone looking to learn & develop their skills? I'm a fast learner, I'm just not sure what machines or type of welding lend themselves to that learning curve. Thanks for your time. 😊

Awesome! Never thought of the pencil idea to practice patterns. You should do a breakdown video on what each pattern would be used for. Ie strengths and weaknesses. Maybe there aren’t enough to warrant a separate video. I’m new to welding.

The only trouble I see is that the pretty patterns are usually done by the wrist movement, while actually holding the 40cm long stick, even the slightest movement of the wrist will cause an uneven molten blob
@@5084204 There is no long stick. There is a spool of wire- feeding the gun that you control the puddle with.

Stack welds, Flux did alot of that when I worked in Bridge work, girders and beams for hiershfield steel. My welding stamp is on alot of the beams used on the LA rams stadium and for Google facilities, I learned how to weld at 18 straight out of high school building battery tanks and heater treater vessels for the oil field, requires welding certification,3g,4g,4f,6g pipe...all that stuff has to be full pen and xray, whole lot of fun when you get trash inside you welds when xray and then you have to grind it out or guage it out with a guage rod..

ياخي اشك ان اللحام الي مصور بعد ااشغل هو لحام القوس لان فيه خبث ولحام المج مايعمل خبث مثل لحام القوس انا اشتغل عليه وثانيا الشرح ناقص لان قبل اللحام لازم يشرح كيفية تضبيط ماكنة اللحام
The best way to learn how to weld with the style of welding you want to learn is lay beads then change settings and lay beads if you can't nut it out change settings and lay more beads once you know your machine it will become second nature

Moving a torch in a uniform pattern is the easy part. Anyone can draw a straight line.
Its fear and speed that you need to control and that can't be taught with a pencil.

Et depuis quand il y a t'il de l'enrobage sur les cordons a enlever après soudure au MIG ?

Effectivement au mig on pousse. Et l enrobage sur la soudure c est par ce qu'il soude sans gaz, au fil fourré. Un peu comme a l'electrode enrobé (arc ou baguette plus vulgairement)

With flux core it's best to just drag the weld in a straight line. Wiping it increases the odds of a inclusion, undercut and other imperfections. Just like when welding with 7018 SMAW.

I don't weld but I found the drawing explanation of the weld flow patterns fascinating and a really good way to teach a weld before it's done in practice
In actuality though it’s better to just start welding and practice practice practice. the pencil in the mig torch teaches bad habits like grabbing the nozzle while welding, bad torch angle, too far of stick out etc.

сварщик уже давно Дешовая приставка к полуавтомату. и аргону.и пром. роботам..Никто не ставит бизнес на дорогого сварилу с электродом...ПА окупается за 3 дня и меньше.

Didn’t even knock the flux off so we could see the beads.
The only problem is youre dragging these welds, most employers and inspecters now days prefer to see a pushed weld because the arc gouges the base metal much more effectively.
Sorry but that’s wrong. If it produces slag, you drag. You only push with gas mig
Flux core needs to be dragged, as it greatly reduces the chance of slag inclusion.
@@scottlister3823 flux core is not mig. M(metal) I(inert) G(gas). flux core uses a blended argon co2 or straight co2 gas therefore is MAG (metal active{some say reactive} gas)
Thankyou that was very informative. What about if you only have a cheap gasles 100amp welder. When trying my welds are so small.
he should tell us its flux core! It was hard laying patterns back when I was FCAW-G welding structural steel, basically just pulling straight stringer beads over our joints.
This is how i learned it. But i didnt use a pen i just started welding and by an experience i found out the right style

Why grind grooves in the plate? Also that's Flux core. Mig is solid wire
the groves are so you have a path to follow that may need fill I'm guessing and as for Mig or flux core... the motion is the same. It is about practicing in leading the pool of molten metal as you lay a bead. Muscle memory and all
I always use Circle pattern for penetration, U pattern for More uniform welds, and Z pattern for more flatter feathery welds

Плюсом научится настраивать аппарат.

@@den3171 просто когда сам начинал, то пришлось учится настраивать ток и скорость подачи проволоки. Что бы не прожигать метал и катет шва был хороший.

Mig will sound fairly bad welding flat on plate like that you would want a groove to weld into or to turn up the machine alot more to get it to sound nice hes running cores wire too so the sound will be softer anyway

I was thinking that too as normal gas mig welding doesn’t leave slag on the welds usually only stick/ark/mma welding leaves slag 🤷♂️🤦♂️

Youre right, this is Flux Core Welding.
Most people call it MIG but MAG is basically the same as MIG. Only difference is the type of gas you use. Which you might be right about MAG since most people use CO2 (active gas) making it MAG welding. MIG welding would be with inactive gases like Argon or Helium but ive only seen those gases used in GTAW or TIG
