You can realize that even they don't use harsh vocals here, this song is still heavier than most of Nightwish stuff. I think you're ready for Cosign to Oblivion live at Zenith.
I wouldn't call it heavier, but more direct. Tuomas/Nightwish songs are more complicated and therefore less gruff. They are more epic than Epica. That doesn't make them any less heavy.

@@Mischnikvideos Epica is every bit as Architecturally complex as Nightwish. In fact a lot of reactors comment how the timing movements in Epica’s music is very complex

@@jonathanratliff4780 The timing is also complex with Nightwish. The difference is the Death Metal. Both want to take you on a symphonic rollercoaster ride. But while Nightwish is wild but harmonious, Epica throws stones on the track or kicks the car. Epica wants to be a lot rougher than Nightwish. That's why Epica is not a copy of Nightwish, even if they are clearly based on Nightwish.

Now the same song is titled "Rise Again" and this time it has Simone in it, as a lead singer. Beautiful! She really shines in that song, both vocally and visually. Please, react to it!

Lovely reaction. Epica usually doesn't have the live choir and orchestra for their concerts but they did for this one since it was their 10th anniversary show. They will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this fall and I would bet they will have the live choir and orchestra for that show as well. I have tickets to see them in October with Sabaton here in the States. Just saw Nightwish live for the first time last Saturday and it was magical. 2022 is going to be epic!

Epica wil do a 20th anniversary concert on the 3rd of September 22 in Tilburg (NL). I got a ticket 🙂.
This was a very special event. Took a year to organize the show. Huge logistical challenge, and obviously very expensive. There's a reason it's almost never done.
Epica has the most perfect discography I've ever heard, keep reacting to them! You won't regret it!
Oh yes the lovely dane reacts to the lovely dutch! One of my favourite Epica songs this, can you belive this was released as a single? The complexity of the arrangement and instrumentation in this one, the drums are doing 32nd notes at times for frikks sake! And Simone, here 3 months pregnant, is like some avatar of beauty. Seriously, I think her purpose here on Earth is to inject archetypal beauty into our lives.
Oh yea, Simone brings more light into my life, I love her :) As well as the whole band!

In 2017 I saw them live in Lisbon with a meet and greet. I cried and Simone hugged me when I met her.
During this song I was crying like a baby. Isaac looked straight at me while I was SCREAMING this song in the front row. Best show of my life. They helped me deal with the toughest year of my life and I will be forever grateful for them.
I was there, this was one of the best live shows ever!
i feel you sabina. i love orchestra and a big choir too. And the combination with the Rest of the Band and Simones holy voice makes it everytime so damn epic. they totaly deserve the Name epica ❤❤ there are some people like floor Jansen with nightwish, Dimash Kudaibergen, Diana Ankudinova and simone with epica who gives me the ultra goosebombs ever.

Did you realise there were no harsh vocals in this one? It's a beautiful song. Some fans are slightly tired of it because it's one of the most reacted to songs, but it's undeniably a masterpiece. Towards the end, it has one of the most epic key changes I've ever heard.
Heavenly choir? Try this: EPICA - Ascension - Dream State Armageddon (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO)
This is a heavier song, but there is a part that reminds me a heavenly choir while Simone is singing some very high notes. I remember first time I couldn't even believe it was her, until I watched a live version of the song :)

This video from their 10th anniversary show called Restrospect and thats really mindblowing! Almost 3 hours show and im sure youd like the whole concert. Some ppls suggested Consign to oblivion from Zenith and yes thats so cool, i choose another from their masterpieces: Kingdom of heaven.
This song smacks of the grand epic music from Two Steps From Hell! Mark Jansen is another metal Mozart!! I LOVE this band!! It is a toss up between Epica and Lord Of The List as to my top favorite. Great reaction Sabina…thank u!! LOVE your hair style btw!! 😉☺️

Ye Mark is a bit of a genius hehe. What i love most about them is that there is no ego. Been to most of the cd releases and bump into some of them in the hallways and have a quick chat.

i had the pleasure to see them in concert in november 2022 here in El Salvador , I have no words to describe how astonishing is hearing and see the level of performance that they have , now I can say that, I can rest in peace , greetings from El Salvador.

Hi Sabina, I love your Epica reactions. they really hit you in your feels every time. actually, the clip from this concert, this was the first ever Epica concert I attended. back in 2013. I lost count on how may times I've seen them live now. but yeah, seeing them live, with such a big orchestra and choir was just amazing. just the choir and orchestra were 80 people. it works so well for them. keep them reactions coming 😉

This is one of the songs i have in the car its fantastic when you can crank up the volume, its a great song to drive to Glad you liked it, theres something about a live orchestra and choir that makes a difference.

Fabulous!!!!! Simone really showed her power here which I wish Floor would do more of. Her voice was much softer that Simone's on Sancta Terra but maybe that was the engineer's playing with the volume...

Ohhh, I missed this one! I was in Germany at a concert of electric callboy and that was very close to where simone lives... but she didn't show up unfortunately 😕 😉. This really is the best version of this song, I really hope there will be a similar 20th anniversary concert next year.

Just one word: Epic
Epica has characterized their work as metal hymns. Let that sink in for a bit.
A bit over a month, and I will see them live! That's actually a small concert they put in just before Hellfest. I also have a ticket for their Epica & Apocaliptica tour whch has been posteponed several time and which I will (hopefully) get to see in early 2023.
As for this song and orchestra use in generaly, I would call Epica the number 1 symphinic metal band in terms of using the symphonic part. I don't claim they are better than Nightwish, they are different. However compared to Nightwish, I consider that orchestra and choir have a more essential part in Epica's music. They are voices of their own, not just background voices.
With the number of Epica songs you did, I think you are now ready to tackle their opus magnum which is Kingdom of Heaven part 3. Parts of it are heaver than the Epica songs you have done so far, but it is a very long song devided into 6 parts with a lot of variation. I'm sure you will like the orchestra and choir part in the beginning. Also, I think the lyrics are very much up your alley.

@@sabina1118 I will second that reccomendation. The Kingdom of Heaven series is a deep dive into both eastern and western mysticism, and part 3 is like the summary. Watch the Kingdom of Heaven Part 3 Omega Alive version on their channel when you do the reaction, it's a spiritual experience.

Yes they are incredible. They are on a tour in Mexico at this moment. This song Unleashed is already from 2009 but those Epics songs never seem to grow old!
At the time the producers / label wanted to call this song Free but especially Simone stubbornly held on to Unleashed to be the songtitle, and at the end they gave in..

Symphonic metal with a live orchestra and choir. For me, this is one of Epicas best live songs..the power of the band and the orchestra/choir is a sound to behold. I wonder how classical music followers rate this ‘combination’ of classical and metal…at one time for me, a most unlikely combination. Now it all seems so natural thanks to the symphonic metal bands. A first class choice of song from Epicas considerable catalogue. Also, a very worthy reaction. Loved it.

I started my symphonic metal journey with Therion, then Nightwish, I love both Tarja and Floor, but damn, Epica is just out of this world, it's something else. And Simone is a goddess :)

I was disappointed to see that their 2023 tour does not include my home city of Birmingham…Bristol would have been the nearest although the Manchester concert would have been my alternative venue of choice. I’d like to go but I’d be going on my own as err indoors is not a fan. We are also away abroad during Xmas and part of the new year. It’s a pity the concert is early in the year. If it had been a little later, I would have gone to, by choice, the Manchester gig assuming Birmingham was not on the tour schedule. Simone’s voice is beautiful and works in absolute harmony with the band. Floor v Simons…I don’t go there in a debate…I choose my fights carefully 😁😁😆 #coward

This is what a reaction video should be like! Letting the video play while we see your face and expressions in real time, none of that BS where the people reacting pause and interrupt the song every five seconds. I hate reaction videos because of that, but this one is a very good one.
Great reaction to a great song. Unfortunately, they do not tour with a choir or orchestra; that would be logistically and financially unfeasible. They only do that on special occasions when they're going to record for home media purposes.
