@@NiceOneChameleon It's an anti-joke, kinda. Matt is holding a melon! I wonder what the punchline is! Melon punch? Melon punchLIne? Wait, he looks at it in confusion and puts it away. There was no joke! We were expecting to have our expectations subverted, but that expectation was subverted instead of our expectations being subverted.
When this excellent video started, I found myself thinking “I miss the days when Matt was a worm”… At 5:20 it was like you heard my thoughts! Thank you worm Matt! 😂😂😂
Matt. Matthew. Mattholomew. Your review of Compile emptied the worldwide supply of this game. The thing the game and I have in common is that we're already sold ; - ; (Ill try to get it for christmas 2025, this year I'm getting arcs, which I blame the other half of your duo for ♥) Also let me givw a recommendation for a slightly bigger game: Beast is very good to get if you're playing with newer people. It lures them in with beautiful artwork, you can put them on a team with someone more experienced for an easier learning experience and before they know they've become a nerd.
My wife and I just played Beast -- she literally said, "Oh, that's the one that Shut Up & Sit Down recommended, right?" -- and we loved it! It is definitely the best hidden movement game I've played so far (except maybe Star Wars: Rebellion, which is *sort of* hidden movement).
I specially ordered Dropolter when it was out of stock in my country. Everyone that I play it with loves it! The fight for the ghost can sometimes cause pieces flying! An easy recommendation from me!
Bought "The Game Changers" it's a really good read, enjoying leafing through it and discovering interesting tidbits of information concerning some of the best loved board games out there.
Yo I appreciate the shout out for the potential conflict of interest re: Wilmot's Warehouse, but I would much rather hear y'all's take on it knowing said caveat than having to look elsewhere. For real, don't be scared to try and give an honest breakdown of your own game!
What else does SUSD have anyways? What else does SUSD have anyways? What else does SUSD have anyways? What else does SUSD have anyways? What else does SUSD have anyways?
If you like Regicide and Tichu, consider trying Haggis. It is a modern standard deck card game for two that is *really* good. Or you can play 3 players with a special 5-suited deck.
With all Matt's allusions to placating judges, I was wondering if we could work out what crime he's commited this time. And if you're paying attention at 8:15 he gives a subtle hint.
I'm not sure whether it's because people watched this and then ran out of their homes, one shoe missing and a half eaten bagel in their mouths, such was their frenzied speed, and engaged on a shopping spree to aquire ALL OF THE THINGS , but 2 of the 3 I looked into getting were seemingly not available anywhere in the country and definitely not before Christmas. *sad trombone noises*.
Huh? You’re going to have to explain - I’ve just placed my order so I’ll have something to do with my cousin on Christmas afternoon. A lot more expensive than it looked on this video, but the guy on the phone said we’d have hours of fun together
Hello! This was a great video, and fortunately my disgustingly large wishlist didn't expand as this is all on there. I do have a question, in full good faith, about Tichu. I understand the worry of orientalization, sure, but is this a problem in this situation? I ask because this game is a huge hit in asian countries, and more often than not countries have changed the art for political reasons than based on race. I understand a fear of racism or fetishism, but the game was (if i recall correctly) designed by a Swiss person who lived in and loved China and its gaming culture. the idea of a love letter to another culture can be tricky, and again, begging for good faith on this, but this is one I don't hear about often or really ever as an issue. I literally only anecdotal evidence, so if I'm wrong, I ain't gonna fight it, but I am curious where that love letter or tribute crosses the border to fetishism. THAT SAID!!!! If you are looking for a Tichu deck that doesn't look like this, Korea Board Games sells several copies of different colors that are rather pretty. If you can't get KBG where you live, Playte Games is a company also out of Korea who sell their games through ebay internationally, and they sell an EXCELLENT copy of Big Two, a classic card shedding game out of Asia. The game has many ways to play, but most importantly in this case it comes with a spare dog, dragon, mahjong, and phoenix card which....can be used....however you like....
Is there a SU&SD Discord? There's a real void of places for people to trade or sell board games privately, without the shadiness and low discovery of eBay and slow communication rates of BGG.
@@NiceOneChameleon if you actually did some research instead of getting defensive, you'd see that there actually are some pretty terrible racist stereotypes in the rulebook and the art of the original edition. The fact you get defensive at 'moral hectoring' instead of curious says something about you
We neeeed a new set of collection tours. I'd love to see how the guys' collections have changed. Plus we at least need a collection tour from emily.
I'll make one :)

I believe they’re going to do it just as soon as they’ve finished the top 100 😉

I've been hoping for that!!
Worm Matt makes a surprise guest appearance - excellent!
Matt holding the watermelon in that one bit and then putting it down in confusion is maybe my favourite joke in anything ever I am deciding right now
What is the joke?

BLESS THE MAKER AND HIS BOARDGAMES
The purple line of the Compile box lining up with the black trim of Wilmot's Warehouse is suprisingly satisfying to look at
Great, just great. Now I'm worm. Just what I needed this week. Thanks.
I really appreciate that worm Matt keeps coming back, his smile is infectious.
I appreciate yall and am glad you exist and do what you do. I wish you the best for the holidays and coming year :)

I love seeing these each year :D
Ace. Most chucklesomest thing I've seen all week, thanks chaps.
that watermelon joke is the funniest thing i have seen all week
Please stop recommending good games. Soon I won't be able to find them in stock anymore.
Still calling Courtisans by it's spicier name. I see the habit has not changed since the podcast and I'm here for it.
I noticed that and was about to issue a Correction. But if it's an inside joke, carry on.
I specially ordered Dropolter when it was out of stock in my country.

This channel continues to be a beacon of loveliness in the hellhole of the internet.
That watermelon joke was perfect 😂
I'm not buying anyone The Gang this Christmas, not even Uncle Alan, but I will send them all a link to Matt's review of it. Especially Uncle Alan.
Great video as usuall guys!! Happy Xmas from Spain!!🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Lacuna was love at firs sight for me since you reviewed it last year.
“Stop it Tom! Stop influencing people!” 😂😂😂
It's kinda cute how Matt and Tom are hesitant to recommend a game they worked on, while other UA-camrs shamelessly plug their own merch 😂
I ALWAYS love these!!! Thanks for uploading!
MATT LEES WORM IS BACK BABAY
Death again, but french, had me literally spluttering. Well played!
Came here to make this comment 😂
Matt being a worm again is a Christmas miracle

LISAN AL'GAIB!

They did a review of it on the website and a video on it
I'm sorry but I'm one of those who watches this to buy Christmas presents for myself.
Good thing you rectified the lacuna of Lacuna
Thank you for the recommendation of Seaside! 🎉🎉🎉 We hope that everyone will play during the holidays besides a Christmas Tree at the beach!
Tim Clare (the author of The Game Changer) also has a great podcast episode with Ava about how to pitch games. It’s a good one!
Agreed, it's a great piece: www.shutupandsitdown.com/podcastle/podcast-188-how-do-you-pitch-a-game/

Tichu is awesome. Only problem is you need exactly four people.
Did you cover Paper App Dungeon at some point? I don't recall seeing this before and it looks cute
ooof the kerning between T and h in "The Caveat Zone"
Come on, Sandra. Do the right thing.
Are the mats for Lacuna flat without wrinkles?
0:30.... called out, haha
I must say, filming a christmas-related video in summer/early autumn, where green, juice foliage is still around, somehow feels very wrong to me 😂
Lovely wiggler tshirt
I need it
Oi, turn up the volume! I'm old!
I want to hear your hair growing next time, okay?
Yes! Splendid! 🥳
This is all well and good, but where did Matt get that shirt?
Oh man, my last Tichu game ended in a bloodbath. Such a good game, but sometimes the stakes are a little too high? 😂
Yaaaay, worm Matt is back!
Worm Matt should do an entire review sometime. And be considered a different character on the channel. Ditto for Big Bin Barry.
If only i could find Compile in stock somewhere
Hooray!
Dropolter - Letting me live out Untitled Goose Game with clumsy hands.
I might quite want!
I LOVE YOU GUYS 🎉
I would love to get a copy of Compile but I'm not willing to pay $100+ from the scalpers. When restock, please?
Good to know.
Where did you get your axolotl t-shirt from!? It's awesome!!

you guys are great
Is that a wiggler head shirt? As a Monster Hunter fan, I appreciate its beauty
tichu is hella fun
Any tips on where to get Compile? Can't find it anywhere...
Well, now I guess I got to buy first edition Tichu , you know, to keep other players so uncomfortable I can beat them easier
Not going to lie I’m here for myself. But that’s FINE 😅
Is Compile even purchasable at this point in time?
Courtisans, not courtesans. Wish it was available in the UK!
So… Tichu and cigars?
Matt...are you wearing a JoCat shirt?!
I think you've misspelled Courtisans in the chiron
How would you play Tichu with common card decks? Aren't there 4 cards missing?
The return of Matt-worm!
you misspelled "Courtisans" in the title card :)
Ignoring all this to get my family Successors LOL
Oh, I see, I’m worm now.
you recommend a game that much you dont even bother to take it outta box and show it on screen :D
Is the book Game Changers the same as Across the Board? Same author, looks like the same subject. Maybe rebranded for North America?
Yes
I'm only here for the worm
See compile in video: instantly pause to see if it's back in stock
It's not
