I absolutely love your irony, Dr. Bergsma. 🥰 Thank you for the shoutout to Mayflower descendants (like me). Your stick-figure explanation of deep theological concepts resonates. Knowing oneself to be a child of God and one in the mystical Body of Christ is transforming. ♥️
This video popped up on my phone today. Had not seen it before. Well done! Was so good to see it and hear your comments. I so miss Letters from Home on UA-cam. Please bring it back to your UA-cam channel. The list of readings, however, shows the gospel it’s being from Luke instead of John 1: 1-18 which you stated it was from.
Dr. John Bergsma, May God grant you and your loved ones grace to be Christmas in your hearts every single day. God bless you and thank you for leading us to the Sacred Family in every video. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
A very Mary Christmas to all members of the mystical body of Christ the King. Wishing us another year of living in holiness and diving more deep in scripture by the help of godly people of St Paul Centre. God bless us all in the name of Jesus. Amen. ✝️🙏❤️
Is there a Catholic bible that does not “over-translate” as much as the NAB? For instance, as you mentioned, “He came to his own, but His own received him not”.
The RSVCE is what’s used for scholarship because it’s a very literal translation. I love the way it reads. Ignatius Press published a study version of the Gospels that’s just beautiful - Ignatius Study Bible (RSVCE). I use the Great Adventure Bible (RSVCE) from Ascension Press for Bible study. It has no explanatory notes only cross references and minor text notes. I like it that way. It has great content on the historical events, times and places, etc.
Please, please, theologians, remember the Incarnation took place on 25 March, not December! That is how humble God is: he became what modern medics, often contemptuously, refer to as a 'zygote'
I love you, John Bergsma. You have opened up my understanding of God in ways I never thought possible
Doctor I find your narration so full of fun. Thank you for the humor in your heart.

John knocking it way out of the ball park as only he can do thank you my great amigo ❤
Felt like I travelled back in time to the 1950's, when the world seemed more coherent. Thanks for the wonderful reflection.

Merry Christmas Dr. Bergsma and to everyone's watching

Thank you!✝️❄️😀😷🎄🌲🎅⛄✝️✝️✝️👋👍
The typo in the spelling of 'Gospel' in the title of this video drove me to watch... 🤣
nice catch
Hahaha
I didn't catch it and I've done a fair amount of editing.
❤😊

In the annunciation prayer we say "...and the WORD was made flesh ".
