Perlexy

The International Budget Partnership Kenya and Kwani Trust came together on September 22, 2016 to host the "What Is Fair?" poetry Night, addressing issues of fairness, equity and governance.
We invited six performance poets to help us think through the question of ‘What is fair?’ in their own words by performing works that address this topic.
Fairness, equity and governance are at the heart of the 2010 Constitution. But what does equity mean? These have been debates that have been part of Kenya in its 53-year old history. The conversations have primarily been hidden within specialized policy debates or agenda driven activism. We feel that one way of opening this up beyond these spaces, as important as they, are is to hold a poetry event that addresses the issues equity and governance.
