Smart to get all the settings just right in advance. The day of is no time to start tinkering around. Good video.

My camera will allow me to remotely control and capture from my iPad already. No extra stuff needed, it works over Wi-Fi.
I have a Canon EOS 90D. I’m surprised that your Canon cinema camera won’t do the same.
I will be in Jackson, MO, and using my EOS 90D with a 70-200 f/4 L and 2x converter.

My camera does that too with the Canon app, but there’s a lag and the quality in the picture is not as good as coming straight out as HDMI from my camera.

Really enjoyed seeing your solar eclipse video. Mostly because it meant you were posting again and that's really cool. I also took a little winter hiatus here recently cause it was too cool to ride for an ole cat like me on blood thinners. Hope to see you posting more stuff, man. You were quite inspirational to me before I started my channel and with the cooking, camping and fishing, still remain the most similar content to my own because we both pull trailers. Look forward to maybe doing a collab with you one day and I still encourage my subs to watch your channel. Ride safe bro!

Lower your tripod gives better stability and easy to work with if you have chair in place. I really like the monitor idea I happen to have a camera monitor I could hook up. Why didn't I think of that before LoL.

Yes, I do plan on lowering it down. I'm glad my test run was on a windy day so I know of the potential problems. The thing I like best about using an iPad is snapping stills that I can immediately upload to social media.

@@SteveOutdoors yeah that's a feature my Panasonic G5 had. With a touch screen as well but shooting with Sony A7R now so I get better pictures anyway. Will be recording vid with another camera if i can manage.

That's a DX lens which means the crop factor is already accounted for, so the lens focal length is what it says it says on the lens.

Actually it's not. When I put the lens on my full frame Canon 6D it's totally different.

Shure would be nice to hear you. You should have a wind sock on your microphone.

Yeah I know. I left my wireless mic at home. Shot with my iPhone.

Hi Mr Steve. I had the ICE 105mm ND filter. Do you think it is good for solar eclpses photographer? Or may I stack one more 10 stop?. Thanks

    • @SteveOutdoors
      @SteveOutdoors  2 місяці тому

I would make sure it is at least ND-100,000 so you don't fry your sensor.

    • @saigonzu9658

@@SteveOutdoorsYes Sir. It is ND 100.000 16.5 stop

FYI. I hope you realize in 1 month the Sun will be around 15 degrees higher in the sky than it is during your testing, will your tripod go high enough for that, and if you travel anywhere to do it your latitude will also change the altitude of the Sun.

    • @SteveOutdoors

No problem I can point it straight up if I need too. We will also be at the same campsite for 3 days prior to eclipse day. Plenty of time to practice exactly where the sun will be. I just hope it is not cloudy.

Not to be rude, but this is not “like a pro”. I’d say this is beginner level compared with the Astronomy community. We are using heavy duty German equatorial mounts at solar tracking rates, telescopes, cooled sensor camera and full automation. It can be difficult imaging celestial objects that are moving, with the wind howling. But, we’ve been doing it for years. We have wind barriers. Park your car sideways to block the wind and set up right by your car. Also, those ND filters are not solar imaging rated. Good luck and enjoy. 👍
