      Have you considered mickey friendly face for mufasa deck? If you get him off mufasa he let's you play maleficent dragon on turn 6 or sooner if you have lantern or doc out. Also he turns the rapunzel/ gothel combo into a 3 cost play

    Love the list! My only issue with these decks is it feels like going second, especially in the mirror is just so one one sided. Our opponent stays a turn ahead and we don’t have access to actions to help us climb in front. However I do really like the deck and would love to see further experimentation into the idea.

    Great video Steadfast! This is great to teach my son how to play the deck, especially vs steelsong 👍🏼
    His favourite card is Elsa Spirit of Winter and used her to devastating effect in the last format. I’m guessing she’s too big to fit in this list?

    • @ssteadfast
      @ssteadfast  11 місяців тому +3

      You can totally add her! I don’t think she’s too big, I just think she might be slow against some aggro matchups. But she’s made appearances in this deck at a few big events. If it’s a favorite card of his, PLAY IT!

    • @ssteadfast
      @ssteadfast  11 місяців тому

    • @ssteadfast
      @ssteadfast  11 місяців тому +2

      That deck can definitely take games off control if they find their good sequences. I wasn’t able to find games this week with it - I was hoping to include that instead of the Emerald Steel.
      But that deck is one reason why I play Dragon Fire even though many players don’t run it anymore. Gotta burn Arthur when you see him.

    Have you ever considered Peter Pan's shadow in your control decks? In certain matchups making all your rushes evasive creates huge swing turns and very hard to punish board states

    I'd legit love your take on why you think red blue pawp cannot answer aggro decks. Is turn 4 be prepared not enough?

    • @ssteadfast
      @ssteadfast  11 місяців тому

      Well the easy answer is I don’t think I’ve ever lost that matchup on the aggro side. Even when maxing out 2-cost Rush Queen of Hearts, using Teeth and Maui etc it’s such a difficult matchup. Pawpsicles are great against Steelsong but that aggro weakness is what’s keeping them out of any meaningful placements at tournaments. Ruby/Amethyst has a few extra meaningful ways to stop aggro (Pinocchio, Fox, etc) and it makes a big difference. As for Be Prepared early from the ramp, it’s not usually impactful because their key cards will just be bounced back to hand with Snake, Fox, and Arthur to protect them.

    • @laurenceoliva4988
      @laurenceoliva4988 11 місяців тому

      @@ssteadfast thanks for the response. What about the possibility of our lore-ing them with Noi shield and t5 crab etc... I have been working on this deck for the last month and prefer this over anything else, so really trying to make it work against aggro, as I can win fine against steel song and red purple control.

  • @LukeDT01

    I’m a new subscriber and just starting out with Lorcana. What would you say are the biggest mistakes to watch out for when using ruby/amethyst?

    • @ssteadfast
      @ssteadfast  10 місяців тому +1

      Focus on card draw. Your true advantage almost always comes from great management of Merlin Rabbit and the way you bounce him in and out for card draw. Weave in Maleficent and FOTOS and you have a great draw engine. Then learn to pivot from the "setup" around 10-12 lore into a lore rush with Goat/Spellbook or late game units like Elsa and Ursula (which are common additions beyond my list)

    • @LukeDT01
      @LukeDT01 10 місяців тому

      @@ssteadfastSo after a few days of trying out the deck and playing with your advice in mind. I think my main problem at the moment is not closing out the game by turning it around at the right moment. I always seem to have already played/inked my Merlin goats when I need to lore rush and my spellbooks always seem to be less worth it than my big hitters when I get to the endgame.
      Obviously with experience I’ll feel better with what cards to ink/play and when but I think I keep feeling like I have to play something every turn. This means that my goats have usually already been played by the time I need them properly

    I'm sad to see the same 2 color combination in every top-8 once more during set 2 cycle. I managed to reach top-8 and top-4 in two 32 players tournaments with Emerald/Amethyst during set 1 but I don't think it will be possible now.

    • @ssteadfast
      @ssteadfast  11 місяців тому +2

      Yeah I hear you, but I have found that the ROTF version of this control deck plays entirely different than TFC version. I think if the colors were changed, the fatigue wouldn’t be as present. Thinking of it that way gets me so excited for new decks like this!
