The main character is my favorite. The best way to "represent" some character's preferred "association" is the same as anyone would do with the an obvious male or female. All this ado about gender today has reached the ridiculous stage. When I was in college, decades ago, I knew a young lady who had made the transition (to female) and our of respect, I treated her as she preferred, and never exposed her. There is nothing wrong with being respectful, not even today.

I remember that there's a scene in an episode of Bones where the two main characters talk to a film director while he's filming at a swimming pool with people in colorful costumes chasing women. What was that episode called?
Sorry but yes this did happen quite a while ago and they were trying to make the scene funny people weren’t shoving binary nonbinary in your face. Like today I really think everybody should just relax and be who they are and shush about it. Why is everybody taking up so much time caring about what everybody else is. I don’t want anybody to take up that much space in my mind. Very much more important things to worry about. Like why doesn’t everybody worry more about child sex slaves, drug dealers, murders. But all we talking about is peoples sexuality.I also believe in the episode they weren’t obsessing over it they were just trying to make it funny. Do you remember when things were funny. We’re not allowed to laugh at anything anymore without it offending someone. I think that’s ridiculous. The whole next generation is gonna grow up not knowing how to be a gentleman not knowing how to be a woman and not knowing how to have a sense of humor. It’s sadD
Japan is not more forward, sure they got progressive people that are very accepting but they got conservative people that still think homosexuality is disgusting. Same as us, and just like how in some things it's better like violence safety, in some its worse like their xenophobia and SA.

Pronouns are your perception for thousands of years it’s been very simple, exterior plumbing, male interior, plumbing, female and yes, there was a very, very, very, very very small percentage of people born hermaphroditic. Most of them passed away during or before puberty.
This is absurd. Non-binary wasn't a thing back in 2009. People weren't as familiar with that term like now in 2024. Stop tearing apart iconic shows for not behaving as if they were made 20yrs in the future...
We’re looking for a “new” old show to watch. Enjoyed the first three seasons, but now the writers seem intent on skankify-ing Bones herself. Kind of like the worst Hollywood types actually are? Hard to believe this show went on so long if they continued this direction. 😷
This is a different time and I always thought it was a woman. It was to help the androgynous acceptance Angela was interested and it was something new to her. How it was played out. Growing up in the 90s , guys that want to be women were drag queens. You weren’t down the middle. You either like men or women. Wanting to look both is confusing SNL already covered that with Pat and Chris.
A couple of things: The thing is that Japan really isn't accepting of LGBTQ+ rights. Please look at the recent news in regards to the government's views on same-sex marriage. Sure, there are people that are progressive but please note that there is a huge difference between choosing androgynous fashion and someone who self identifies as non-binary. It might be related, but it doesn't necessarily mean that someone who wears that fashion is non-binary and vise versa. I don't think the world was as aware to addressing what one's pronouns at this point in time. It's a crude attempt at a joke. From what I remember, that character was known for doing crazy shit like that, but it's SA whatever way you look at it. Attempts like that are interesting to me that does age the show to the what was deemed as appropriate during the time it was broadcasted. I was a huge fan of Bones while it was airing, but since I was in middle school during the earlier seasons, a lot of these moments flew over my head. I have a vague memory of this episode but this moment for whatever reason I had no recollection of until this video. I don't think I fully registered what was going on in this scene, which was why it never stood out, but I think any normal adult would register as inappropriate either way you look at it.
This ignores the episode about the trans-pastor, when Booth corrects everyone and says something like "SHE, Patricia was a woman when she died so the correct pronoun is she"
Yeah, this is my issue with this PC culture. We have to, as a society, understand that things done years ago, are not as open as they are now. You cannot blame a show from 2009 when even now people are still fighting pronouns. You cannot go backwards, only hold current things accountable. It’s one thing if they were being racist, but they weren’t, they were acting exactly as the whole country would have at that time. Like Jesus fucking Christ 🙄
My guy, the series is old especially early seasons. Pronouns and whatnot weren’t very well known or talked about in mass media if at all I honestly don’t think it’s a bad episode. Besides even if they “confirmed” they’re a dude that’s based on what was seen back than. Watching back in today anyone can say tanaka is probably non binary or something despite what they have in their pants. Just know I’m non binary and I don’t think there’s a problem. If it came out recently I’d have questions
It wasn't that long ago? 13 years at least. Back then even Obama was against same sex marriage. Things have changed a lot more recently that you think.
If anything, Bones was egotistical and extremely arrogant. In reality, she probably would not be where she was in the show. Excessively condecending, too. There are episodes i want to yell at her.
I'm confused where and when did they go to far I thought what Angela did was funny. Man those were the days when tv shows didn't pander to people and you could make jokes and people understood those were jokes. And people could have a different opinion than you and it wasn't the end of the world
It unfortunately seems that this Looper guy has built a very nasty community simply by virtue of failing to make it clear early on that he doesn't think androgyny or trans identity is an excuse to treat someone poorly. Even back in 2009, normal, fairly liberal people would just ask Tanaka "are you a man or a woman?". And the way people don't realise their "back in my day" and "I identify as" jokes have all been done before has me rolling my eyes as well lol. Trans people are more annoyed by your lack of imagination than by your bigotry at this point.
You wouldn't ask for people's pronounes back then and like in real life you would in a work area you would question if they are male or female and the HOW they found out by giving him a hug is SUPPOSED to be comedic in a time when people DIDN'T want to go through life not being offended ever like they do now.
🤦 I'm sorry I am all on board for there being multiple sexualities but not genders. Gender is biological, sex is something you can make up and do what ever with because it's just a social construct
If we’re going back, watching old shows, and judging them by today’s standards you would have years of content out of “All in the Family”, a show that i love because of how non-pc it was.
The only thing that came close to "going too far" in this episode for me was touching Tanaka without consent. And that's true of any gender. But in real life, it's very often instinctive and automatic for people to touch others. If you have a problem, it's also on you to specify it. You don't like to be touched - please don't. As someone born intersex, you get to be much less sensitive (and I imagine much more playful) about this than current "woke" culture seems to freak out about. People nowdays seem to INSIST that I tell them my "preferred pronouns". They seem upset when I tell them that's not about me, it's about them. Call what they see, and we can go with that. I know they're trying to be respectful and I acknowledge the gesture. They're just missing the point. I don't "prefer" anything because there's nothing to prefer. What we're left with is up to you. Like anyone, your understanding of me is subjective. Own it.
Ya...Binary Pronouns Were Not Really into Practice Backwhen This was Aired....We Had...LGBT....Transgender....and the like....But...Things were More Distinguishable as Unique Singular...worded Categories for ALL INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES
This show came out in the early 2000s. Pronouns didn't become such a huge thing until recently. Also, no one would've been questioning whether the special character was nonbinary or not. Tbh, Angela didn't even go that far with the hugging because Angela's character would do that kind of stuff all throughout the show. Just be glad that the show wasn't homophobic, racist, etc because it could've been but it wasn't. Stop making such a big deal out of pronouns and stuff from somewhat older shows, please
I have actively thought about how weird and inappropriate and uncharacteristic their reactions to Dr. Tanaka was in this episode when I think of Bones. It just doesn't make sense to me why the characters would act the way they do.
I just rewatched all of the series recently and when I hit this episode I was struck by how very differently it would have been handled now, just roughly 10 years later. We still have a long way to go but the fact this episode didn’t age well actually shows that we’re making progress.
Oh, please ...Angela is Angela, just like the rest of the cast. They are who they are. Just like the Eastern cultures. It's entertainment, not Pronouns 101
It’s nit so Out There ! It’s something that many go through every day ,coming up against /meeting someone that just does not show a form of either sex and it puzzles many ! It’s a norm and should not be be shone up one as for its natural for people to be puzzled in this situation

By what measurement are we better off than we were ten years ago? So much woke sermonizing here. Back in 2009 when this was first broadcast, all this gender talk was just beginning to burst fulllthroated from academia. When I was in college, decades ago, I knew a young lady who had made the transition (to female) and our of respect, I treated her as she preferred, and never exposed her. There is nothing wrong with being respectful, not even today.
The actor was female. They artificially deepened the voice in post, and it was a good episode.
Also, male or female, she had a 50/50 chance of getting it right, considering those other genders mentioned are as real as griffins.
I know this is old I’m 68yrs old I worked at a nursing home when I was around 26yrs old. I was in the room with one of my patients who was 89yrs old she ask me if the person in the room with us was a man or woman I keep say be quiet, but she continued to ask so I told her to ask if she wanted to know and she asked “ are you a man or a woman” older people don’t have an easy time excepting change sometimes. We’re trying to process so we can understand. There are too many before you have to process something new. I don’t mean it to disrespectful.
Really...this what you're making videos on now...might as well dig up some old X-files episodes and check if they identified the aliens correctly.
😂😂😂😂
It's a show,it's fiction. Get over this gender obsession. Oooooo it doesn't fit the pc police. Again get over it
Yes this right here. The issue is trash channels like this making it an issue. Fk off with the pc agenda Looper it's a tv show.
It is fiction, but this pronoun obsession is real. Someone asked me to call him or her "they" because that person allegedly wasn't sure what gender he or she has, or thinks that is something like in-between...
@@ozymandiasnullifidian5590And... No one can compell your speech.
This is satire, right?
Loved the show. Don’t care for pronouns. At the end of every civilization, when all real problems like hunger and housing are solved,
People make up problems to solve.
+scollurio How do you know? When and where has that every happened?
@@highroller-jq3ix Look back at history what precedes the fall of nearly every empire. We’re on the way out. Even a decline in ancient art over time for Greece, Egypt and Rome is evident.
@@scollurio Wow, what a mess of confused concepts. To begin with, I have no idea what empire and "we" you refer to. Which we is on its way out in what sense? Next, what are you pretending, without any evidence or analysis, does in fact precede the fall of nearly every empire? When you say a decline in art, what do you even mean and how is that relevant to this situation in any way? I think you just like to make pseudo-profound pronouncements and pretend you actually know something.
@@highroller-jq3ix I accept your opinion, feel free to investigate yourself as I am not going to waste my
Time to educate some one too lazy to do it themselves. If I really need to explain the basic concepts you have been asking me about we are not fit to discuss this to begin with. If you are a guitar player and try to explain to me something I can only understand if I play the guitar myself, I guess you wouldn’t try to teach me how to play first, right? No offense.
@@scollurio I could probably teach you how to construct a less inept metaphor if you were really interested in being a less ridiculous and inane interlocutor just to start with. We have zero empires involved, no framing of your vague "we" bomb, no demonstration that you even have a rudimentary idea of actual history: essentially, Dunning-Krueger performance art. I can even offer you one correction that will help you come across as less iill-informed and generally stupid in the future: no actual historian with credentials and respect in the field ever talks about an Egyptian empire. It's like telling an idiot who doesn't play the guitar at all that he's holding it backwards.
Great job looper, you've proven that humanity needs to end! Now if only the sun would go supernova.
😂😂😂😂
Let's just say I have a "vested interested" in this topic and I couldn't through this video. Not asking for a gender pronoun, on a show depicting serial killers,s, violence sexual assault, etc and it's the gender pronouns that go too far? I believe this is the looper video that goes too far.
It’s sadD
what is this BS ?
Japan is not more forward, sure they got progressive people that are very accepting but they got conservative people that still think homosexuality is disgusting. Same as us, and just like how in some things it's better like violence safety, in some its worse like their xenophobia and SA.
bruh who tf cares
I am watching the reruns of Bones I love bones
I just watched an episode where they showed the flesh and organs falling off a corpse and splattering on the ground in a big pile. I clicked this video to see if they showed anything worse than that. I would like to know how they got away with so much gore...
Pronouns are your perception for thousands of years it’s been very simple, exterior plumbing, male interior, plumbing, female and yes, there was a very, very, very, very very small percentage of people born hermaphroditic. Most of them passed away during or before puberty.
This isn't problematic at all. 99% of people don't care about your feelings... Because it's a FEELING... Lifes tough, puton a helmet.
This is absurd. Non-binary wasn't a thing back in 2009. People weren't as familiar with that term like now in 2024. Stop tearing apart iconic shows for not behaving as if they were made 20yrs in the future...
Dafug is non binary?
Outside the internet, no body cares.
It was to help the androgynous acceptance
Angela was interested and it was something new to her.
How it was played out.
Growing up in the 90s , guys that want to be women were drag queens.
You weren’t down the middle. You either like men or women.
Wanting to look both is confusing
SNL already covered that with Pat and Chris.
I remember this episode and thought it was strange. I kept thinking that it reminded me of the old SNL skit surrounding the character Pat.
Yeah sure
Not even remotely offensive. This was before society took a major nose dive.
This ignores the episode about the trans-pastor, when Booth corrects everyone and says something like "SHE, Patricia was a woman when she died so the correct pronoun is she"
I thought she was Japanese since she had the common trope that is a streak of blue dyed hair indicating that she is fact a Japanese character.
It didn’t offend me one bit, Hollywood is the land of make believe
This channel use to be good but.......
this is utter nonsense and absolute rubbish.
I don’t even think it’s PC culture, considering everyone in the comments (aside from certain bigots) are arguing the same thing.
Things are worse now
@@slyp5409bigots like yourself
My guy, the series is old especially early seasons. Pronouns and whatnot weren’t very well known or talked about in mass media if at all
I honestly don’t think it’s a bad episode. Besides even if they “confirmed” they’re a dude that’s based on what was seen back than. Watching back in today anyone can say tanaka is probably non binary or something despite what they have in their pants.
Just know I’m non binary and I don’t think there’s a problem. If it came out recently I’d have questions
Stop being so sensitive.
Well, people weren't that big of babies just a few years ago i guess. I didn't care.
Casting an eye on the past with a social norms and notions of the present. Is useless.
It wasn't that long ago? 13 years at least. Back then even Obama was against same sex marriage. Things have changed a lot more recently that you think.
I love this show and seen it 4 times.
This is totally PC so NO!!!!, love this show so today's views is just ridiculous
If anything, Bones was egotistical and extremely arrogant. In reality, she probably would not be where she was in the show. Excessively condecending, too. There are episodes i want to yell at her.
U r getting sad looper lmao
the "gender pronoun outrage" wasn't a thing then.
This upload just shows that minds preoccupied with being offended will find any way to virtue signal. 🙄
No one cared about that gender identity stuff when this episode aired.
Seems like every show/movie has a gone to far. Ugh get over it.
Why does the narrator talk so much instead of letting the actors speak their lines? So annoying.
I'm confused where and when did they go to far I thought what Angela did was funny. Man those were the days when tv shows didn't pander to people and you could make jokes and people understood those were jokes. And people could have a different opinion than you and it wasn't the end of the world
If they watched Mrs Doubtfire they would probably faint. What a pathetic over sensitive culture we are living in.
It is pretty impressive that the dude got tumescent just from being hugged by angela lol.
Dude the episode is from 2009 non binary were not invented then, my friend 😊
Ok, looper ignored forever - thanks.
Part of me was expecting Looper to recover from the effects of its piece regarding Gina Carano, but apparently, it's still nosediving.
🤦 I'm sorry I am all on board for there being multiple sexualities but not genders. Gender is biological, sex is something you can make up and do what ever with because it's just a social construct
This will soon be forgotten
If we’re going back, watching old shows, and judging them by today’s standards you would have years of content out of “All in the Family”, a show that i love because of how non-pc it was.
The Eleven Worst Carriers: Drew Hamilton Apartments
Which wigs come from outside the country? which type of head is it on?
🙄
I thought they were going to kill off Angle
I have actively thought about how weird and inappropriate and uncharacteristic their reactions to Dr. Tanaka was in this episode when I think of Bones. It just doesn't make sense to me why the characters would act the way they do.
Weirdo
Which film crew is interviewing the carrier?
I just rewatched all of the series recently and when I hit this episode I was struck by how very differently it would have been handled now, just roughly 10 years later. We still have a long way to go but the fact this episode didn’t age well actually shows that we’re making progress.
Weirdo
I know you thought your opinion was very profound.
Oh, please ...Angela is Angela, just like the rest of the cast. They are who they are. Just like the Eastern cultures. It's entertainment, not
Pronouns 101
Where is the .. Addicted to Wigs documentary?
Am I the only one who found this show to get both highly predictable and dumb after a while?
It’s nit so Out There !
It’s something that many go through every day ,coming up against /meeting someone that just does not show a form of either sex and it puzzles many !
It’s a norm and should not be be shone up one as for its natural for people to be puzzled in this situation
There was not a damn thing wrong or taken too far in that episode. I watch older TV shows and movies to get away from all this woke crap.
2009 is a long fuckin time ago lol wtf
Seriously...
Its easy to judge but west and east plus now and than are two different thinks. Keep always open minded but when you jump out of the loop dont be affriad to say sorry. You can not turn the switch in a life time this takes time.
Always been a fan of Looper last time I'll ever watch it
By what measurement are we better off than we were ten years ago? So much woke sermonizing here. Back in 2009 when this was first broadcast, all this gender talk was just beginning to burst fulllthroated from academia. The masses had not gone through the same amount of indoctrination that the activist class had. You might keep that in mind when critiquing the past. People learn what and as they live. Who knows, maybe even you will learn something in the next ten years.
