Thanks for this video, picked up an old version of this strimmer, only thing wrong is the fuel lines are shot, this showed me exactly what to do. Thanks again.
Thanks for this, it won't be such a mystery when the spare parts turn up next week! The Mcculloch handbook for the Trimmac SL+ states 40:1 mix, by the way.
Thanks for the video! Mine is mcculloch MT 265cps (40:1). It hates running up to speed with long trimmer line not cut to the right length walking against the rock protector. So now I just trim the line to correct length. Not the best on crazy thick stemmed fibrous longer grass, but is pretty darn good and still well get through it. Mine is a consumer model with a straight shaft and able to be broken down into two. Had to replace all the fuel lines as my father won this thing in a raffle. It sat for years without being used so the plastic fuel lines disintegrated. Rubber fuel lines are the way to go. So what is the other line going back into the tank....a return line for unburned fuel? I honestly thought it would be junk but it has really surpassed my low expectations. I can even realign the head with a nut for easier edge trimming.
Hi Mick. The video answered my queries perfectly. Just one observation. Although I knew what you were doing it was difficult to see with your fingers in the way occasionally.
Hi, I have a maculloch t26cs do you no what size the fuel lines are iv looked everywhere and yours is the closest video to what I'm looking for. Mine have deteriated.
Done the same as you works fine thanks, I also replaced rubber fuel primer as well, I have the identical strimer, where do you get the weird looking black diagram for the carberetor that's under the rubber dome diaframe would you know.
Thanks for your reply, but I'm looking for the same pattern, and although it advertised its for the 250 for me the pattern doesn't match does this matter.
Thanks -useful video, Ive got 2 of these TM210's both with the same problem. I've replaced the lines but both priming bulbs aren't pulling in the fuel. Ive blown all the carb throu with compressed air. Im sure they're not blocked. What could be wrong?
Thanks for the the Video...Good Stuff!!! I wonder whether you can help me, my Trimmac petrol tank is leaking throug the top bolt (there are two connecting the tank to the trimmer) Thanks and Brgds...Unfortunately, hardly ANYONE fixes anything anymore!!
My better half casts me dirty looks when I’m on the internet at night and she hears “let’s get down and dirty” but I earn my keep keeping the lawn mowed and the front bush neat😂
Usually like watching your videos Mick but this was disappointing. The OD of your fuel pipe was wrong. You need to get some dencent Tygon pipe in various sizes instead of butchering a tank like that to fit the size of pipe you had . Also when you poured the petrol out of the mixing bottle you increased the ratio of oil to fuel - you should have added more fuel. 25 to 1 is increasing the oil ratio not decreasing it. It was running slightly too lean at high speed plus too much oil due to the poor mix. The carb would have benefited from a rebuild but at the very least a new metering diaphragm. Yes they are cheap machines but the carb can be fixed properly to run like new.
Hi mark thanks for the comment.. shame you did not like it.. like I have always said I'm not a professional just a back yard fixer.. your right in everything you say about the oil.. that said the gentleman just wanted it running not a service.. he wanted to spend no money on it. Had I done a carburettor clean gasket set he would not of wanted it done as they are so cheap to buy new.. I struggle with some people as they want it done for nothing.. as always I do appreciate the comment positive or negative.. many thanks for watching.. mick
Hi Mick, I get where you are coming from. People just don't understand what is involved in a job anymore and want things done for next to nothing. The biggest problem that small engine repairers face now, and going forward, is the dreaded Ethanol content in petrol. We are currently on E5 and it is simply killing gaskets and hoses, particularly on 2 strokes but the B and S classics are also suffering. Good news you might think for the repairer...… but when E10 comes in, I can't see small engines lasting a season which is then going to upset customer relations. Nobody running UK channels - mowerman retrohax is saying much about this but trust me it is a serious headache for the industry going forward. Yes you can buy stihl and husky alcohol free fuel but it costs an absolute fortune over a season. The Americans are a bit more switched on and you see lots of vids of them separating the ethanol out using water as a phase agent (not that I am advocating this). Just a suggestion but it may be an idea flag the ethanol issue up with the viewers so they understand why their garden machinery does not stay in tune as long as it once did. Cheers Mark.
I need to ask you in regards to the fuel filter does it get connected to the big hose or the small hose I accidentally tock my one I can't even remember which one it was
Thanks for the video! You don't need to worry about your hands being in the way - we can see all the important bits. Really helpful - thank you.

Yeah I hear you mate.. sometimes difficult to show it all
Great advice and instruction.
Thanks for this - I should be able to do now. Seems like the perishing fuel line is a consistent failure.!
Your welcome yes the fuel lines are a pain

Brilliant video mate I've got one with the same problem how much for repair?
can i still get piston rings for suffolk punch 14" engine 24 A /75 G RAY
Hi Mick where do you sell your mowers at buddy,? Thanks for sharing
Answer ,fuel filter was off the pick up line, so every chance the internal fuel screen is blocked causing the fuel starvation as demonstrated
It's like mine a throw away trimmer paid 40.00dollars used for season and junk it
tesekkürler video icin
Cut a v into end and push n twist or wire through into cut end and pull.. there's a thick and thin pipe so why enlarge the hole ....??
My trimmer is the same model but the manual states 40:1 fuel/oil ratio, not 50:1 as you have used.
It will not hurt it .40 to 1 or 50 to 1.. as long as you have oil in it ..
Even the filler cap states 40:1 @@themowerman
