Hey, teacher. Today I went to an used books shop. I saw a P. G. Wodehouse's Short Stories book. It is an Oxford Level 5 exemplar. I though, teacher would approve it, indeed. So I bought it immediately. Now, I 'd like to beseech for your attention to say thank you for your lessons.
This excerpt is from a movie entitled Tamara (it has the word supplicate in it): "To the ancients who were before time... hear my prayers. I *supplicate* myself before you. Now ready to make the sacrifice you desire. To the old ones, endowed with powers of love and attraction... bind my fate to that of the one I desire. And like this flame, like a phoenix from the ashes... let me rise anew to claim all that should be mine. With a touch, grant me the power to sway others to do my bidding. And destroy those who stand in my path. For this, I offer up my heart... my soul... my blood. I spill it in your name."

Yes. 1 being the most informal and 10 being the most formal. Nearly all words are in the range od 3 to 8 in formality. 5 is neutral and can be used almost anywhere.
Generally good categorization of the differences. Except I didn't care for using beg the question in it's bastardized, form to mean ask or raise the question, which would never occur if it were not already a well-known phrase with a different meaning, of an argument that assumes its conclusion--basically, circular reasoning. Also, in the USA legal system, defendants cannot be found innocent, only not guilty. There is adifference.
@@iswearenglish Yes, the burden of proof is on the prosecution. If the defendant is found not guilty it means the prosecution has failed to prove its case or convince the jury of the defendant's guilt "beyond a reasonable doubt'. It doesn't mean they found the defendant is innocent or proven innocent, which he or she or a gender ambiguous person may or may not be, just as sometimes an innocent person is sometimes found guilty. That was a joke about gender ambiguous, in trying to avoid the generic "they", which doesn't match the singular subject structure of the sentence.

Sir, could you repeat the adverb you used with beseech , I couldnt recognize it
Sir, when you rate a word's fomality, do you rate it out of 10? Like "Beseech" formality score according to you is 7. So, 7/10?

It is very interesting that in the US defendants can only be found guilty, but I guess the burden of proof is still on the prosecution
