Another great song from the sons of country music legend Merle Haggard. Catch Ben and Noel Haggard out on tour if you can. You will not be disappointed!
Love love the Haggards!! Noel and Ben together are great. Noel looks after his youngest brother Ben, and can be soo funny! And Merle’s sons have such a great relationship together.
The first time I heard this song, about 1991, I loved it! And I loved the band playing it. It was a house band in Branson at BT Bones; I asked what it was and a friend told me the title, and that it was Merle's song, I then found out the singer on stage was Noel!!! His band played there regularly, and I visited several times that summer.
Great song....must have been cold. Propane heater going full blast. 1st time I heard this song was Mo Pitney at The Station Inn. Surprised I hadn't heard it as I was a big Merle fan.
Yes sir we all nearly froze. Even Noel’s Captain Morgan couldn’t keep us warm and by the end of the show I couldn’t feel my hand that was holding the camera. I have a great version of Hag doing this song on my page. It was relatively new when he introduced it as “Downtown Modesto”. Could have been an alternate title as it would fit. ua-cam.com/video/8565mUsucnA/v-deo.html
