People will project anything onto a quiet person. For me I think it’s about setting down the performance of “welcoming” and “friendly” and letting people be uncomfortable.
Being black and introverted is seen as a negative thing. We as black people are supposed to be loud and entertaining. When we are quiet, people look down on us and give us rude stares. It's not a curious stare, it's a "who do you think you are stare!?"
Yes I feel like quiet people that are withholding/righteous ruin it for the rest of us in that way. I think Black people are rejection sensitive and some people weaponize their silence both to contrast “loud and entertaining” and to be rude.
Ironically, can you say it louder to the people in the back? Lol, I can't count how many times people have asked me "Why are you so quiet?". And it'd just like, I'm not going to fill silence unless I actually have something to say.
