- In this episode I visit Ricci's brothers to try out their very popular hoagie sandwiches. Ricci's hoagies has been around since 1920 and has been perfecting the hoagie sandwich. They are most known for their classic italian hoagie. All sandwiches are made to order and right in front of you. I got to try the italian and the honey turkey hoagies. Both were very delicious but my favorite was the honey turkey hoagie. Liscios bread was a superb choice for their sandwiches. Highly recommended place in Philly!

OMG! I Can smell it through my screen! Good-n-GREASY!! I MISS PHILLY FOOD (CheeseSteaks from Pat's/Jim's), Water Ice in the Summer, and Soft Pretzels
I'm sooo... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but... Jim's Steaks had an Electrical Fire🔥yesterday 7-29-2022 at around 9:30 am when the Manager came in to open up for the day at 4th & South St. She said that she smelled an Electrical burning smell turned around to the 2nd Manager... called the Fire Dept. And she said that she just saw thick black and gray smoke coming out of the vent ducts and... the building could not be saved! 😥 This business started 40 years ago and it's still smoldering as I text this to you! The Dept. Battled this fire until 1:30 p.m. in the afternoon. It was totally Destroyed! We here in Philly are Devastated! But... of course they plan to rebuild! Hope you come back to Philly and go over to Dalesandros on Henry Ave & Walnut La. Until Jim's is rebuilt! We are sooo sorry for having to share this bad news! Please keep us in Prayer! 🙏 Amen!
@@lorettawilson5973 I used to deliver food to restaurants in Philly and I was helping another driver on his route one day and he took me to a place that starts with a D that was somewhere downtown/center city (I’m not from Philly but it was in that downtown ish/center city area & not the residential ish areas of north or south Philly) & man he treated me to Philly cheesesteak and with me being a self proclaimed foodie I tried to try one every chance I could when in Philly and it was the best I ever had outside of this lil deli right outside of some west Philly projects…that sub was so big and loaded and so good I haven’t been satisfied since…I’m from Baltimore only 1.5hr away and we have many good bakeries and restaurants but y’all have the best sub bread I’ve ever tasted whatever that bakery is that most places use where it’s liccios or however it’s spelled WHOEVER it is man they got making sub bread down perfect!!! I’m from Maryland but I love Philly I love PA (Delaware & VA also) I love the mid Atlantic and we’re so overlooked but I love this area anywhere within an hour or 2 of Baltimore! Great people and even better food!

I love Ricci’s hoagies! Every summer as a child till I became a teenager I would get the Italian hoagie when I came to Philadelphia. I also love the steak & cheese sandwiches only the best hoagies & steak 🥩 & cheese sandwiches are in Philly!

That beautiful hoagie makes me want one NOW!! In D.C. we call them subs but I don't care what they name them as long as they're delish. Philly does have BOMB hoagies and that's a blessing that they've had that family business for a century🖒. Keep it coming JL and peace and blessings👊

Brings back memories. Glad you found this place. My family owned the nail supply shop by the 7eleven up the street. Use to walk down to Ricci's all time to get a hoagie. This was 14 years ago. Making me craving Ricci's now. May have to plan a trip down to philly soon.

I went to Ricci's while visiting from FL a couple months ago. My gf and I got the old fashioned Italian and will say it for the record- it was the best sandwich I've ever had, no competition. I dream about this sandwich now... gonna try to recreate it at home soon.
I literally cannot get enough of this place!! They also sell Canada Dry Peach soda which is hard to find
You made a great point. The best hoagies have crumbled up provolone in it not the slices. Makes a huge difference. Only thing is you need sesame seed bread.

Grew up at 12th & Federal Sts. Ricci Bros. ( we used to call it Carlo's) has the best hoagies.on the planet. Everytime I have a hoagie from somewhere else they are compared to Ricci Bros. always! Must have when I visit Philly!

JL. I know I'm just another comment. But if you ever in Coral Springs, Florida go to Laspadas. Best Hoagies ever. Get the Mama Laspada and you're going to take a mid-afternoon nap after that! Best Hoagies till this day for me and I've been to many.

I live in Orlando area and we have a sub shop by the name of Lawless in Altamonte Springs. Their subs are like the hoagies I'd get in PA. Have everything in this sandwich but more of everything for less than 8 bucks. My favorite was called the speed bump. The only thing I don't see in FL is the thinnly sliced onions soaked in salt water which were in every shop in PA.
I'm 58 and have only had 1 or 2 sub shops that made a true Philly cheese steak. 1 that closed down was called "The Buffalo Wing Co." They had a variety of true cheese steaks from all over Pa. Philly, Quakertown, Allentown, Pittsburg and more. Miss that shop for sure, he was a transplant like me. Winn Dixies sell ring bologna (Dietz and Watson's) that is the closest
to the real thing. Why did I move? Thinking about retiring and back to Bucks or Centre County where I lived.

Love them. Long time ago, I used to be a paramedic in South Philly. Behind St. Agnes hospital, on 15/McKean, there was a place called Joey Joe's. Banging hoagies and chicken cutlet hoagies. The mom was upstairs frying the cutlets, down stairs, the deli.
They closed 10 years ago. Sad...

JL Jupiter Timmy Ds is fire to in the NE they used to be at cottman and lawndale but they move to cottman and church road fire sandwich’s and hands down the best chili in the city 💯💯💯 it’s almost that perfect chili weather

In Wilmington go to Capriottis. They roast whole turkeys. They have a sub with pulled turkey stuffing and cranberry’s sauce. I like the Cole turkey sub with pulled turkey, cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing.

I know someone who moved to Florida. She told me recently how difficult it is to get a decent sandwich there which sounds absolutely nutts to me. As far as sandwiches go we are sooooo spoiled here in Philly.

Casapullas is family owned like this w chains from other fam members..but I THINK the Elsmere, DE location is the BEST..not sure WHY this was a suggested channel lol..but hey I subbed. Love from Delaware..but no mayo on an Italian or sharp cheese lol..just teasing !

You gotta try Olympic Steaks and Subs in Wilmington Delaware. That is the best hoagie I have ever eaten. It's like 30 minutes down I-95 and it's a serious contender to any hoagie shop you have ever eaten at.
In Delaware there’s one called Malins deli in Newark is good the breads amazing or any of the casapullas in Delaware are good too . Also jacks country maid deli or goodfellas in prices corner is fire !
