Absolutely obesssed with the Pentel Energel 0.5 mm (specifically the Pentel Energel Clena 0.5 mm in Pink) It dries quickly, doesn't smear, smudge, or skip, and the pen body even looks pretty! It's even affordable! HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE THERES LITERALLY NO CONS
I like the uniball one 0.38 (I really enjoy smaller tips, because I write quiet small). And I enjoy the glitter variations of the sakura jelly roll and the white uni ball signo for decorating my art.
The ENERGEL is superior to everything. It writes smoothly, no skips, instantly dries, and it highlights immediately with my mildliners (even the sarasa mark on takes at least 3 seconds). The energel is the OTP and you can't change my mind.
I am also an Energelic, forever and ever. ❤ Found a see through one in a store here and loved that design over the classic blue/silver (which looks extremely technical and not so cute)
After years and years of bullet journaling, I have to agree that Pentel is superior to Uniball, for gel pens. And I wrote exclusively with the Signo for years. The top 2 gel pens on the market, in my opinion, are the *Zebra Sarasa (Grand)* & the *Pentel EnerGel (Alloy)* . Both are available in 0.7mm. I like the size and weight of the Energel (Alloy) better but I think the Sarasa (Grand) ink is a bit superior and dry even faster.
@@-_M___M_- ohh interesting I have never treid the sarasa grand or the alloy energel. One reason I do not like uniball one is the feel. in the hand I get. After holding the pen for 10-20 mins it gets heavy and uncomfortable
My favorite will be Zebra Sarasa Vintage! Because I like the appearance so I'm happy everytime I see myself using an aesthetic pen lol 😂 They also write well and got my favorite brown ink in their line up
Zebra Sarasas are the perfect gel pens for me out of all gel pens. The vintage and milk colour packs are especially my favourite for colour coding my notes since some of them matches my mildliner colours
I like the Uni-Ball One, but my fave is honestly the Energel Clena in 0.4 :D Sometimes when I write with the Uni-Ball One, it does the grooving/train tracks thing that I know most people gripe about with ballpoint pens
I’ve been using energels (mostly RTX, a clena more recently) for about 15 years now and the only writing utensil I like more are my mechanical pencils. (Oh, and I’m left handed, the energels are just fantastic in that regard)
I had to take Chemistry last semester, and the professor only allowed us to use pen to fill out our lab books. The FriXion was a life saver. I was able to erase mistakes quickly while my classmates had to use white out.
I have a couple of uniball one pens, and I don't really like them. The body is really nice to look at, and I like the clip, but the pen is a bit scratchy to write with, the pen feels a little too light in the hand, and the ink is a little scrabbly and feathery - the grip is really hard too. I really want the jetstream to come out in other ink colours -- especially brown. The Jetstream writes beautifully, but I want to write in brown. At the time of writing, I'm using an energel noir, which is nice, but... Uni please!
Agreed!! I really don’t get why so many people are so into it haha. I’m happy for them but every time I try the uni one I also feel like it’s scratchy and just…bleh.
I have to say this in the Gelly Roll's defense, on the rare occasion that you get one that isn't scratchy, I swear it's like the clouds part and the angels sing.
My top 3. 1. Pilot Juice 0.5 2. Zebra Sarasa 0.5 3. Papermate Inkjoy Gel 0.5 Personally, I didn't like the Uniball One. I like the design, but writing with it feels scratchy. I think it needs a specific type of paper to get the best out of it.
Juice Up is really lovely! The Uniball one works really nicely on Japanese paper. I didn't like how they wrote at first until I tried them on Japanese paper, and the WHOLE experience changed!! I love your top three. I would rank the same. I have all of them in multiple different sets.
Honestly Uniball Signo has always been my one true love. I work for a Japanese company and those were what we ordered for our company office supply rooms; nothing has ever come close!
Bic slander ! Loved the video ^^ my personal favourite gel pen is a Pilot Bottle 2 Pen. It writes nice and dark, and looks like a little water bottle hahah
Ann is a delight! I love every word that comes out of her mouth!!! She is absolutely RIGHT about the Jelly Roll! Apparently, I HATE feedback in my pens. I had no idea there was a ranking for scratchiness.
I'd be interested in seeing more of these sort of rankings, and perhaps other Jet Pens Staff ranking for their own purposes too! It's interesting to see the features getting compared like this!
@@sollerona idk i have a uni-ball one and the zento is always smoother. i even took the ink barrel out and put it in my uniball one p cause it feels so much better.
my top 3 are 1. Zebra Sarasa Clip, Vintage .5 2. Uni-ball Signo .38 3. Hi Tec C Maica 0.4 (discontinued) My opinion on Uniball One is that it skips a lot but it's a very nice ink.
I love uni gel one pens but sometimes it’s a gamble to see how good the ink works. But it’s all worth it in my opinion cuz the body design is ADORABLE! Edit: I also forgot to mention how satisfyingly dark the black ink is
I got a uniball one p earlier this year and it's become my go-to! I used to love the uniball signo um-151 for drawing and taking notes because of the thinner pen tip but now I prefer something bigger for my work, and the cute and chunky body of the one p is just perfect. So comfy to write with, small enough to carry everywhere, and stands out so it won't get lost lol
Love these fun videos! I am a pen-aholic but these are my go to's: 1. Pilot MultiBall (it's discontinued which is criminal!!! I have 3 new I'm hanging on to for life) 2. Uni-Ball Signo 1.0 for a bold line...any color 3. EnerGel .7 Needle point. Generally hate needle points but love this one. 4. Sarasa .7 - my first pen I consistently reordered continually...my fav fall back pen.
This was a great video! I have now added a couple of pens to my shopping cart and wish list. Lol, even the ones that made the c and d list! 😂. The video was fun and had good vibes. ✨
I ❤❤❤ the FriXion line by Pilot! I had the synergy for a while and also the standard ones that can come in a rainbow set at .7. Once I got some of the Knock Zone a couple months ago, it changed a lot! It writes a lot smoother and a lot darker in the black ink!
In my experience the uni ball one tends to have pretty awful ink flow with a lot of railroading and skipping. Jetstream on the other hand writes flawlessly. Love the 0.7 of that.
I tried the uniball signo and I hated it 😅 it just takes forever to dry and has a shine! I hate the shine. That’s why it took forever for me to try the uniball one, I kinda expected the exact same experience. I’m happy to inform that it has become a favourite of mine and the UniBall One F (mint) now lives in my pencase. My ride or die for years has been the Pentel Energel, I still love it and I still have it in my pencase. But now in a UniBall One P (Yogurt) body 😂 I do wonder what she does to break a page with it, because I am a heavy handed writer and I have never ever had that issue 😅
The Hi-Tec-C just can't be beat for quick writing and sketching imo! I like the signos because they're waterproof, but I will always pick a hi tec c above one for some reason or another. I miss the maica, I still have one that I carry around every day side by side with my fountain pens :3
pilot g2 is a staple for me since it always works. the energel clena is a dream, but the regular energel just does not write for me. the uni one is the love of my life but i prefer the colorful ones because the black one is a little dull. and the uniball signo dx gorgeous but not the regular uniball signo. the kokuyo vividry is pretty underrated, i like it when i’m patient enough to avoid smearing it everywhere.
Never tried the Uniball One, but the Signo and the Hi-Tech-C would rate the highest out of what you’re shown here. Frixion would be in the bin, F rating. Sakura Jelly Roll is like a B-. Keen to see what else is on the list 😊
I swear by Pilot FriXions, my handwriting is *very* messy and I appreciate the flexibility! 😅 I’m considering Uni pens and fountain pens in general once that improves, though 👀
The Energel is by FAR the best gel pen out there. I've recommended them to southpaws who appreciate the smoothness of the ink and how fast it dries. Personally, I love the variety of colors it comes in.
Love the Zebra Sarasa ink! No smudge worries and the colors are epic! Also love the fact it doesnt smudge! Its the most stash i have for my BID bolt pen. Not cheap but does last long for the amount I write.
The pen body I haven't decided on yet because it doesn't feel like it gets enough attention as a fountain pen does BUT my favorite gel refills are definitely the Pilot Energel, Pilot Juice Up and the Uni Ball One because they're designed in a way that I can tilt the pen at 45° without catching the edge of the tip that holds the ball. Minor detail but a deal breaker for me.
Yay!! Like Ann I'm a fellow neddle-point and scratchy-feel hater! 🤣 Might have to pick up a uni-ball one next after seeing Ann use it! I'm a click pen person if I can, but caps are fine if the pen is otherwise great. I think out of what I have Energel might be my favorite, I still have G2s kicking around as well. Uniball Signo is decent, mostly just use the white one.
I don’t like uniball one. The one i have skip😢. I will keep using it until it run out and hopefully my ink replacement will be better than the current one.
I am a firm believer of Uni signo pens. I discovered the Ener-gel pens are more smooth to write on and gives a lot of feedback. The colors of the Ener-Gel is more darker than the Uni-signo. Bic is a French brand not American.
I prefer Pilot Juice 0.38 and Sarasa Clip and Sarasa Vintage 0.5. These all write smoothly and consistently for me, and I am happy to use them 🙂 I have found that unfortunately Uniball Ones have inconsistent ink delivery, and there’s something about the Energel writing experience that I don’t care for, but not sure if it’s the needle tip or some other factor.
a merry merry hello JetPens. recently A few days past, I bought a limited edition of Pentel Japan EnerGel Pens. I found out that there were a lot of designs. I just pick up a selection base on my allocated budget. I purchase the Autumn, Crane, Cat, Silver Fish design. My next target to purchase is the Spring Carp fish design.
Pilot Coleto Hi-C multipen 0.3 mm. I've decided to spend my own money to use this for work because the place where I work used WB Mason for office supplies doesn't have these available, and I refuse to write with anything thicker than 0.4. It just feels like writing with a paint brush.
So happy the Bic Gelocity got brought up. It’s my favorite. The Bic Gelocity Shield is a Gelocity variant that has the same refill, but a better body. I don’t like the grip on the regular ones. I really don’t like Uni ball. So it’s funny that the ONE is her favorite, and she doesn’t like the Gelocity. I think both are pretty similar.
I got a uniball one f series pen thinking i would love it but it turned out to be very awkward to hold and the ink flow is inconsistent if you are not heavy handed 😢 i usually prefer pens that are heavier/ have thicker barrels because they help my very tight grip but this one was a big dissappointment
I haven't tried the uni ball one, but my fav is the uni ball signo 0,28. I like super fine point pens, but I want to put it in the paper mate ink joy gel case. My frankenpen so far.
so interesting to see how we differ but also agree on things. The frixion and pilot gtec c4 are my go to, the pilot in particular has been my favourite for years now. The first 'expensive' pen I ever got and was the first 0.4, and now I love thin tipped pens lol. I use the frixion 0.38 line for my planner, and love the erasability lol. We do agree on the gelly roll though, I had gotten some of them cause I loved the colour range. But the scratchy-ness and the super slow drying ink made it a deal breaker..and now they've been rotting away for years lool. I'm left handed so a fast drying ink is really important :I. I have a Glidewrite that I really enjoy, but it also takes a bit to dry.
For work I take lots of tiny really quick notes so I don't really like gel pens because I like my lines very thin. But I found the Zebra bLen (not gel) with the hybrid ink. Writes very thin lines and the ink is really dark like gel! I'm scared because you guys don't sell it anymore 😭 Any recommendations for when my 5 backup bLens run out?
Have you tried the Jetstream or Acroball? Those pens also use low-viscosity ballpoint ink! www.jetpens.com/Uni-Jetstream-Standard-Ballpoint-Pens/ct/2695 www.jetpens.com/Pilot-Acroball-Ballpoint-Pens-Standard/ct/4242
My favorite is Pentel Energel. I particularly love the blue black one. Uni Ball Signo has always felt scratchy for me, and I think it skips a lot. However, here in Brazil, some Japanese pens are hard to find and they are very expensive to import, so I think my knowledge of them is a bit limited!😅
I love collecting black pens and generally lean towards 0.5mm. My absolute favorite is the Sarasa R 0.5 Black, deep dark and smooth. Uniball One Black is darker but it just doesn't write as well in my opinion. Signo DX is a really nice smooth writer. I'm not a needlepoint enjoyer either, def don't like the regular Hi-Tec-C but their discontinued Maica write really nice. I'm not sure what I like for quick drying more but they're both good options, Sarasa Dry & Pentel Energel! I might just be a Uniball One hater 'cause when it comes to color I'd probably pick the Signo DX but not too far behind would be Sarasa.
My top gel pens are zebra sarasa, muji and uniball one. In 0.4 or 0.5 they are perfect. I like the pentel energel but not as much as the others. Pilot does fountain pens and ballpoints better than gel pens in my opinion. BIC is cheap and a ok pen for school but later in life not in my pencil case! Suggestion: same type of video for ballpoints?
I like the feedback, so I guess Ann and I won't be sharing pens! Shame as I will share my Sarasa Vintage with anyone so they can enjoy as well. The Frixion is also a blast, in part because I'll use a lighter to erase things (kids don't try at home). I do concur on the Gelly Roll to be fair, it just doesn't feel "write" for my hand.

Ann has spoken ❤
@ 5:42… loled at the “anti-American frown”: isn’t Bic French anyway?
It is a French company.
I bought all brands but I still go back to Pilot Frixion
I have all Frixion
All colors
a merry merry hello JetPens. recently A few days past, I bought a limited edition of Pentel Japan EnerGel Pens. I found out that there were a lot of designs. I just pick up a selection base on my allocated budget. I purchase the Autumn, Crane, Cat, Silver Fish design. My next target to purchase is the Spring Carp fish design.
I love this new video type! I’d love to see more rankings! ❤️
I have $10 to blow on a gel pen with a good amount of colors, narrowed my options to uni one 0.38 and sarasa 0.5. Which do I choose?
Sarasa are lovely. I didn’t like my Uni pens.
@@aviaannette which uni did you get
She seemed nervous but she did a great job and seems kind :)
1. pentel energel in both 0.5 and 0.7
2. pilot hi tecpoint rt (precise rt) in 0.5
3. Uniball one
ooooooo I hope part 2 has Inkjoy pens, my mom and I live and breath Inkjoy. they're perfect for color-coded notes and loose doodles
It does! :)

My favorite pens are uni-ball Signo Micro 307 (blue and black) and Faber-Castell Gel Pen Arte Gel 0.7 (blue and black)
I am so WITH YOU; Uniball One is my personal favorite for juicy, bold, smooth
in .38 it is perfection - bold refers to brilliant color intensity
I've been loving my Traveller's rollerball. I wonder if y'all could recommend some pens that can take fountain pen ink
My go to is the Zebra Sarasa Mark On!
My preference :
#1 Pentel EnerGel Infree
#2 Uni-ball One
uni-ball one ink lovers unite 💜
My top gel pens are zebra sarasa, muji and uniball one. In 0.4 or 0.5 they are perfect. I like the pentel energel but not as much as the others. Pilot does fountain pens and ballpoints better than gel pens in my opinion. BIC is cheap and a ok pen for school but later in life not in my pencil case! Suggestion: same type of video for ballpoints?
Uni-ball One is my favorite for sure. I wish I could find refills for all of the colors.
