I've mixed feelings about it tbh. As both a motorcyclist and MTBer I can appreciate both sides of the argument, but I did start doing MTB because riding enduro bikes in Ireland was pretty much a no-go. The fact is that these are public trails built specifically for MTB, and when something eventually happens with a speeding e-motorcycle, Coillte will be very quick to close the trails to limit any negative PR and nobody will get free world-class trails anymore. Aside from that, I'd love to ride a motorcycle around my fav trails, but I have no illusions that putting down that kind of torque on an MTB trail will rip the surface apart, especially on wet trails. Why not just get an pedal-assist eMTB? Jumps better, the suspension can soak down those jumps too, and goes down faster anyway, with less torque on the rear wheel.
Bang out of order lads ive been riding motocross most my life so i understand its hard to get spots to go but im also mountain biker Dont wreck the trails for everyone lads have spent months building that its for mtbs only .I can see yous have been doing doughnuts on the trail and you'll have the faces of the jumps rutted up to fuck and yous are accelerating up the faces its on video . Mci got insurance sorted 2 weeks so the tracks will be back open . Theres no excuse for it so stop trying to justify it its a MTB trail end of
No the lad was right to pull ye up on that. There are still motocross trails like in Ballinastoe. It is actually prohibited to be driving motocross on the mtb bicycle and hiking trails and there is a difference between motocross trail construction and maintenance to bicycle trail builds and maintenance because I’ve been there. Certain electric bikes aren’t allowed there either if they are too fast. You can’t just make up rules for exceptions to suit yourself or no 2 wheelers or horses or hikers or anyone will be allowed up there. There have already been accidents and people like yourselves are part of the problem why people don’t want to go near motorbikes or motocross sports.
Lads I love surons and MTB, understand your man telling you that big bikes destroy the trails but all the bikes do it anyways so hard to find a solution for that. The fact is you are on moto and riding mtb trail centre, there is loads of plces to go do enduro adventures out in wicklow mountains, you can try to hookup with MX lads that ride like 100km in the wild every weekend and no hassle or fight with other bikers. Peace lads, share the mountains be safe and enjoy 👊
You are gonna cause a big accident with something so fast on trails designed for mountain biking. The mountains are to be enjoyed by everyone but stay off the mtb trails
Here in germany i understand the mtb people.. even they run the risk of trails closing all the time. If anything resembling a motorcycle, even if it is electric, would show up in the woods... the "green" prople would loose it and in the end nobody would be able to ride "legal" anymore. This is germany btw. where you cant even ride most forest roads with a street legal moto. I ride a 450, a Stark Varg and an eMTB.. i think these lighter ebikes are missing their own habitat :) here in germany you cant really use them anywhere :(
