The fact that nobody died at the 2005 Arca Daytona 200 is a miracle, honestly.
Thats all I remember him for lol
I was at the race. Holy fuck that was a brutal race.
was that the race that had a bunch of drivers get injured and sent to the hospital?
@@Whogrl16Here ya go. ua-cam.com/video/ermwS4rc4zY/v-deo.html
It's a dead series anyway
Probably this is why Roush stopped doing the Gong Show, he knew it's a terrible way to pick a good developent driver even though he succeeded in the past with Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards
Roush racing put me in a ride i’ll bring you results💪🏾🔥 great video bro
Say what you will about his career trajectory, but Roush dodged a bullet when they selected David Ragan over Kluever to replace Mark Martin.
Yeah. Although Ragan wasn't great, a career best 13th place points finish and a win was far, far better than anything Kleuver ever did
@@LessGo7921Because he was hot garbage in the 06 (although, tbf Ragan also wasn't great in that car) and Ragan is a better driver than Kleuver, it's that simple
He was in nascar 08 for the ps3 ps2 lol
I know Ragan had bad years in 2007, 2009 and 2010, but I also don’t think Kluever would have finished in the Top 15 in Cup points in 2008, or won a race in 2011.
Totally disagree. At the time when he got dropped in favour of Ragan, neither of them had shown anything special(Ragan took 2 and a half seasons to get a nationwide win) . If Kluever would have been elected he would have gone the same direction as Ragan.
I get the impression that (based on Brock Beard's video on Ginn Racing, mentioning how Todd Kluever was initially tapped to replace Mark Martin at Roush) he was getting more and more uncomfortable with the pressure of being in line to replace Mark Martin.
It's probably how people wondered how Kevin Harvick would perform at RCR, replacing the late Dale Earnhardt. It's another case of an inexperienced driver filling massive shoes. However, while one of them had little to no notice of stepping up, the other buckled under the speculation
It's possible. But also, Kevin Harvick succeeded because he is a Hall of Fame caliber driver, while Kluever never flashed much talent even before he was declared the successor to the 6 car.
It’s something we see in hockey a lot with the phenomenon of the goalie of the future. These guys have all the expectations behind them and flame out before they make an impact. They sometimes even get leapfrogged by lesser prospects or career backups who seize the opportunity and never look back.
@@patrickfoote9047 it's a strange one certainly. While Mark was certain that Todd Kluever was the one who was going to replace him when he stepped away from full time competition in 2007, the language Kluever used suggested he wasn't sure:
"The rumours are just that, they're speculation. In all honesty, and I've talked to Mark about this, I'm worried about this weekend. I'm not really worried about next year. I'm very realistic, I live for the weekend. Rumours are rumours and if I go out and win the Busch race this weekend, they all seem to disappear... The plans are still that I'll be driving the #6 (Cup) car next year (2007),"
Roush's awful farm system in the late 2000's evantually caught up to him when Carl Edwards left the organization, years of awful driver development with an awful farm system immediately put them into the abyss in 2015/2018.
Yeah
Jack Roush was doing good at the beginning with Kurt Busch, Greg Biffle, and Carl Edwards when it came to recruiting.
Not only that but the whole youth movement in the mid 2000's where 9 of the 10 drivers were a bust.
I'm curious why Roush got so bad at developing drivers. Did they stop focusing on it when they had a dream lineup, was it bad judgement, was it bad luck...etc. Its crazy how the early 2000s they hit on everyone, but after Carl Edwards, Ricky Stenhouse was their best driver they developed since lol
@@mistaTVD3199 They pretty much stopped focusing after Edwards, when Stenhouse was their best developed driver who proceeded to only score 2 wins on plate tracks in the cup series, you know they fucked up bad.
ah yes… back when the 4 car rule wasn’t a thing and Roush fielded half a dozen cars
Yes indeed
Remember Nathen Haselau and Chuck Hossfeld? Those two were chosen to take over Roush's championship caliber Truck team after Kurt Busch and Greg Biffle. Safe to say, they didn't even reach the season halfway point.
I do not remember them, and that is probably why.
One of my good friends is the son of Nathan. Awesome family.
Forget actually top tier drivers like Kurt and Biffle, Jon Wood could regularly contend for top 5s and even wins with that team.
Hossfeld didn't manage to record a single lead lap finish and had exactly 1 top 10 start and top 10 finish each. When he was fired after only 9 races, he was behind the likes of Lance Norick in points and almost 200 points down on Coy Gibbs of all people. Haseleu was very slightly better.
Hossfeld didn't quite make it in trucks but he's still a wheelman in dirt and asphalt modifieds. He and I share the same hometown of Ransomville, NY.
To be fair they won the Roush Racing Gong Show so.....
I'd love to find video footage of the "Gong Show" that Kluever won, because it must be the only time he won anything. He never really showed any flashes of talent in the lower levels driving for Roush, but was publicly anointed the successor to the 6 car anyway... and then promptly lost his dream ride due to absolutely peeing down his leg in the 06 car in 2006 for Roush in the Busch Series.
Then again, the guy who got his ride hadn't done anything in the lower levels either. Neither David Ragan or Todd Kluever were good prospects, but I guess they were the only ones in contention for the car. It was bizarre.
Crazy timing, I literally found my kluever #06 diecast 5 min ago
This was the point when Roush's farm system was shown to be weak and he was pushing them up to fast. Though some of this was also because his top tier talent was either leaving for other teams in the cup series or retiring.
Todd Kluever should of stayed in the Busch Series and Truck Series longer and then he would have a decent career
The problem with these drivers was that they was rushed to the Cup Series too soon. If Todd had more time in the Truck Series then a few seasons in the Xfinity Series he probably would had been a decent driver. I assume that Roush and 3M had something to do with him going to Cup that soon
When Darian uploads a NASCAR Busts video, it makes everyone's day better
Ok
I remember him from NASCAR 08 on the PS3
Nascarr Bust: Danny O Quinn next
The entire Roush developmental system was a bust.
kyle busch was a roush development driver
Fun fact: Todd Kluever actually attempted the Chili Bowl this year.
He didn't make it far through the mains but it's clear he still has an itch to race. Maybe we'll see more of him one day?
He's an awesome guy to watch race!
Kleuver makes David Ragan look like Jimmie Johnson
David Ragan actually wasn't that bad. To be fair, he didn't spend a whole lot of time in the lower series for Roush, but he did have a lot of great runs throughout his career with Roush and after leaving Roush in the cup series
ah yes... the gold old days of playing as Todd Kluever in the Busch series on nascar 07 on the PSP :)

Eh, Gilliland isn’t really a bust. He was already on the wrong side of 30 when he got his break. I do think Robert Yates calling him “the next Dale Earnhardt” was, uh, presumptive, though.
@@interstate366 he got the Yates ride with a win in the xfinity series but sucked almost everywhere but the plate tracks. He did bad in his xfinity starts yet a surprise win gets him a cup ride… he didn’t do enough to get it but somehow every year kept his ride… he’s a bust
I can’t believe that they made (and I bought) a 1:24 Todd Kluever #06 car
I just found mine today lol still sealed in box
Like Todd the whole youth movement in the mid 2000's where 9 of the 10 drivers were a bust.
At one point I thought he was going to drive the 6. Todd won the "Gong Show" Roush's Race for the Ride but I just never seen much in him because they rushed him too fast. He did a lot of what Bubba Wallace does now, push the cars too hard and crash when he really should have taken it easy and try to finish the race, much like Mark Martin could do. Kluever was just too up and down, he would have a good solid race but then crash out of another. They wanted to strike gold with another racer from Wisconsin like Matt Kenseth but it just didn't happen. This is what started the beginning of the end of the Roush dynasty, they just had a terrible driver development program and while they were winning championships and races, they could never restock the talent pool.
I havent honestly watched nascar since like 2008 I kept tabs on it till like '13,'14 its just getting worse with the segmented racing. the bosses of nascar need to realize that if you make racing idk fun again it will be awesome for them and the fans... why is this so? idk I could have told you every drivers # and name back in the early 2000's when I was a kid its a shame.
It's not a Rick Allen commentary without "Problems" being said at least once
Todd “Meat” Kluever
Do Jon Wood next
That Gran Turismo 2 Arcade Mode music in the background gave me those nostalgia chills
Jack Roush was/is strictly a mechanical technician. Never was people person nor a good judge of driving talent. Seems he lucked into the few good drivers he had. Bringing in Brad K as a co-owner is probably the last chance for the company. If it doesn't work out, the race team part of Roush will probably be gone in another few years. Only Roush Yates engines will be left
I think 75% of the field ended up in the hospital after the 2005 ARCA race at Daytona
Literally every wreck was someone running him over
I noticed that too
Darian never misses with content 😤😤😤
Weirdly enough, I do remember watching him on the track, and I can clearly remember watching (vaguely) Roush Racing:Driver X, and he had all the potential in the world... until he came to the Truck and then Busch Seiries, which his potential deteriorated very quickly... and I think what led to Roush Fenway's fall from grace was, in my opinion, Jack kinda got hungover about all of their success in the early to mid 2000s, and this was proven when one by one, Kurt Busch leaves. Mark Martin leaves, as does Matt, Carl, and eventually Greg. Then their farm system showed success (Think Chris Buescher winning the 2015 Xfinity Series Championship), at times, but, it wasn't the highest quality of equipment that it once was....
No one remembers Stenhouse's back-to-back Xfinity championships.
@@crystaljon oh!!! That's right I completely forgot about that!!! Thank you for reminding me... appreciate that 😉
I kinda feel bad he deserved more truck time and he was rushed up way too soon and his career was ruined
Ah yes. Yet another mid 2000’s roush development driver that sucked.
Been waiting for a video on Todd Kluever for some time and it's well worth it!
We can only imagine his career if Roush didn't rush him into the Cup Series...
Roush is still looking for a driver to replace Mark Martin
Scored more top-10s in his rookie year than Dylan Kwasniewski, so I'll give him that
Flipping down back straightaway in a ARCA race at Daytona.
February 2005.
I figured this would be made
I can name several ASA stars that were not a bust in NASCAR such as Tony Raines, Jay Sauter as well as Butch Miller and Bryan Reffner who were truck race winners while other former ASA stars such as Johnny Sauter, Johnny Benson and Jimmie Johnson went on to have great careers in NASCAR.
All Kluever will be known for is his massive Arca Flip.
Oh that was one of the drivers that flipped in 2005 ARCA Daytona
Todd Kluever: hard 1/64 diecast to find.
Please do Dario Franchitti next.
Nascar Busts recommendations: Chrissy Wallace, Amber Cope & Angela Cope (now Ruch), Shelby Howard, Chad McCumbee
Amazing how many of these show that you shouldn’t rush prospects. Seems like it happens a lot.
But seriously, Todd Kleuver and Danny O'Quinn Jr? What??
Interesting how a lot of the Busch series wrecks shown here are his fault.
this is just an aside, but I knew a lady whose last name was Kluever-Dyck (pronounced cleaver dick) that's all I have to say
I thought it was Wally and Beaver Cleavers long lost brother but it’s spelt different !! 😆
He crashed a lot.
You could say a reason why some of these drivers get rushed hard is cause it worked for Jimmie Johnson with his out of nowhere success going to Hendrick, but that's probably because Hendrick were so ahead of the curve compared to other teams (except their brief Busch series farm system).
Johnson also did 2 and a third seasons of then Busch Series racing in inferior equipment meanwhile guys like Kluever were immediately getting solid Truck n Busch Series rides
There was also the case of Roush's own Kurt Busch who skipped Busch Series.
“What’s so hard about turning left?”
A lot, actually.
The Worst Roush Racing Entry Part 2
First baby! Wisco so underrated for racing. (Not in this case lol)
I know the guy in real life, they rushed him up too fast, hes a great guy in real life and is racing dirt cars now
If only he wasn't rushed
I can say this he was rushed and wrecked a lot.
you need to work on your sound. I am a sound guy so I know..
Can Ryan Reed be considered as a bust?
Best finish in Roush in the cup was 32nd. That’s sad
Nascar Busts:Drew Dollar
a Rouch Racing bust perfect timing one was just given a JGR Xfinity ride
Roush really is the bust.
THATS MY COUSIN
Dear Darian, I beg of thee, please, for OLD Nascar fans, a bust by the name of Jeff Fuller in the #47 Sunoco Chevrolet. Hell, Derrike COPE was a NASCAR bust and let's go even older to Ron Bouchard, Jason Jarrett and more. LOL. Cool video--bet Kluever at least got himself a hot wife or ....ahh nevermind.
I remember when you referenced this guy in the worst Roush Cup entry video tbh
NASCAR Busts:
• David Stremme
• Reed Sorenson
• Casey Mears
Imagine losing a seat battle with David Ragan
What a nostalgic era for me.
Just a tip, turn down the grand turismo track in the background a bit.
How big of a bust could he be if I've never heard of him? The other busts you have profiled, I think I've heard of before then.
If I was alive in the 2000s, I would want Todd to stay in the truck series for a few years til moving to the busch series.
BTW: Nascar busts: Jason Jarrett
I don't think Jason had the interest to race just like Kenseth's son Ross.
2:41 if that were the last lap just think about how close that would've been
HOW BAD WAS ROUSHS FARM SYSTEM THAT THEY DEEMED THIS GUY AND DAVID RAGON TO BE REPLACEMENT OF MARK MARTIN JEEZ IM STARTING TO QUESTION JACK ROUSHS HALL OF FAME CREDENTIALS
Roush just threw way too much at hum too soon. If they took their time I think he wouldve been good.
Didn't you already make this video? Deja vu
YOOO I forgot about this guy. Was one of the weirdest prospects of the 2000s
He had a rough time… but how good looking was that 06 car?
Sam Hornish Cleared him alright 😳
Whenever I see the name in these videos I just take a step back and say "who..?"
I'd give anything to have as many cup starts as him

@@coca-colatrackhousewarrior9925 Say, that sounds about right.
Roush was perfect for wasting and hampering many good drivers’ careers. If people only had a clue what went on behind the scenes. Backstabbing crew chiefs and lack of support from the company. Whoever posted this is as ignorant as they come.
Before I even watch this video, I just know the clip of Kluever destroying Ken Schrader at the 2006 Subway 500 at Martinsville is in this video and Wally absolutely grilling him. Ken was running in the top 10 while Kluever was multiple laps down and decked Ken. Him and Ragan were menace to society in that 3M 06 car
That was Ragan, not Kluever.
Who???
I have never heard of this guy, I got no idea why
