I did a resto mod on a Belgian m1 that I got from my local surplus store. The helmet was this weird green color so I decided to paint it. Made my own cork from an old coaster that I sanded with course sandpaper in a tray. Then I got some paint from Home Depot and it actually turned out pretty well!!! With the exception of the non period correct chinstraps it actually looks pretty good
MAYBE not historically accurate look, however, I used some of that textured "stone" spray paint. Just a Walmart rattle can spray paint that has a fine/medium texture to it~ than I sprayed OD over it. Turned out really nice.
The pot isn’t as deep and the front of the dome isn’t as high. It slopes more gradually than the WW2 m1. It’s kind of hard to tell until you put them side by side. Great work though. Easy to see why they’d use them in ww2 films.
Those Chinese helmets were the same ones used in the movie Hacksaw Ridge
Yup, threw me off so much while watching that movie
Yeahh… they really should’ve just asked reenactors if they could rent them from them…
I'd say it seems like a good idea if you want something custom, or a project, and don't want to modify a historical piece.

You done a good job on a china made M1 to make it look real ww2
This is interesting. I have a roached out vietnam helmet i plan to do this with. Id love to see your other helmets.
Good luck with yours! I’ll have to do a video on my other helmets sometime.

Unfortunately they copied an 60s production M1 rather than a WW2 example which is shaped differently!🙄
What sewing machine are you using?🤔

@@robertmunoz7543 I just used a regular sewing machine with a denim/ upholstery needle on a zig zag setting.
@@WarQualityReviews Didn't know if It needed the torque like industrial machines to sew canvas?🤔

I tried doing this but the paint I used was horribly inaccurate but when i got the paint it looked like the accurate color.
they look quite good are they the right material on the helmet itself?
@@Tristonia2 I’m not sure, I guess I could try shooting at it.
@@WarQualityReviewswell is the liner a hard plastic? And is the shell steel?
@@megandarling2215 yes, this is correct.
@@WarQualityReviews got it!
Nice dude I subscribed to your channel
Sadly...not enough texture ! You should have used much more cork !

@@aaronsoriano2421 might be worth a test!
