- Here is a quick comparison between the LG CX and the LG G2 and the LG G4.
The difference between the G4 and the G2/CX is in some scenes very big.
If you like to see a comparison between the LG G4 and the S95C let me know 😊
Are you going to buy a new TV in 2025?
Just bought a G3 and I'm very happy (coming from a C9).
Waiting for HDMI 2.2 to upgrade from my S95B to an other QD-OLED in the future… impossible for me to buy an LG OLED after my S95B QD-OLED
Very nice comparison. I wish the S95C was part of the comparison. I have the GX for bedroom TV and the S95C for gaming and movies. I will upgrade when HDMI 2.2 starts to show up.
Yeah, upgrading probably to the G5
@@GamingTech-UA-cam I bloody hope not. I just upgraded from a cx to a G4. I think I can stand the fomo for a year or maybe 2
I’m abit gutted you sold your CX, I used your HDR CX referencing all the time for correct HDR in games and it’s why I subscribed originally
My CX still going hard as fuck after 4000+ hours lol.
My C9 is still going strong, must be well over that amount of hours now. I'm upgrading this year though, thinking about the new Panasonic OLED, waiting on reviews but it's looking impressive.
Only 4000 hours ! After 4 years ? My S95B is only 2 years old and I’m already at 8000 hours 😅
My wife and kids always watching TV… and I play video games at night
Mine to, I love my CX! Will definitely upgrade one day, my guess is I'll upgrade when the next gen consoles come out.
@@NodnarbTaw Bro, have you had any problems so far? Death pixels or burn in? How many life hours your TV have?
@@majstorringo I have had the TV since November 2020 and have had zero issues. I have 4012 hours of use on it so far. It is my primary tv. I use it to play video games, and watch movies/tv.
And here i am lowering my brightness in general on my CX so my eyes can rest lol. Sure g4 looks incredible....But sometimes it's nice to learn to be happy with what you have and that's often good enough.
I have a C2.
Honestly it can get bright enough in HDR to be slightly uncomfortable in a pitch dark room 😂.
More overall brightness is nice, but I'm completely content with my TV for now. It does everything I could want.
The only thing an upgrade would really get me is more brightness. And a bit higher hertz for PC gaming.
But my current 120hz and brightness on the C2 is more than sufficient.
I'll eventually want an upgrade, but probably not for years yet
These UA-camrs have to upgrade every year 2 tops or they will feel like they aren't keeping up
Doesn't mean the rest of us have to do it lol. I'm perfectly happy with my C1.
I use dynamic tone mapping anyway
Yeah it isnt accurate per say, but its at least bright @paulcox2447
Same, I went with a B4. It was 1/3 the price of a higher end model and I'm happy with it.
Are you running in HGIG? Are you running in W50 color temperature? Accurate modes like HGIG are darker unfortunately until the standards change
Still happy with my C1. Plan on keeping it until it bites the dust!
Same, probably upgrade to a G7 or 8!
Same here, don't feel like am missing something
Same here C1 Best beast
@@Sackboy612was thinking the same I safe 30 each month for my tech tv consoles etc
@@marlonevos5602 Smart!
I have the CX and G4 and love both.
This is one of those videos we all wanted but didn't know we wanted to see. Thank you for the fantastic work 🙏
My lg g2 still best tv I’ve ever owned. Picture is still incredible with no burn issues so far. Love it.
Still have my CX, still a beast! over 8k hours on her...she is still going strong! PS5 Pro on it, its wicked.
I have a CX and it works as a CHARM, it's like brand new. Not gonna upgrade for a few years still. All this big corpos want us to upgrade every year to stay poor, f that and f being a coomsomer.
Didnt expect g2 beign that dim in comparison with g4 … my g2 looks plenty bright can not imagine how bright g4 might be in my room 🫣 perfect video as always
My man showing day and night difference between CX and G4 and people are saying my CX is still strong. Sure man, sure.
Going strong . As in still working great with out issues after many hours.
Not better than.
Brightness is hard to show on a video comparison. The CX in real life doesn't look as dim as the video our eyes aren't cameras. It doesnt translate.
Side by side if your eyes are exposed to the G4 sure the CX will look less bright.
With just one TV in the room the CX will look bright. It's literally all relative and our eyes literally adjust.
Plus most of us aren't gaming In hgig. Throw dtm on the CX and suddenly it's a different story in terms of its APL.
It's 50% brighter. Sorry that's not a game changer to most people
Plus he is using graded HDR content designed to be dim on everything but the absolute brightest of TV's
For real people using dynamic tone mapping. Again, it doesn't look dim.
@@paulcox2447 100 % agree , i game on a 55 inch CX in my game room and watch movies on a 77 g3 in the movie room. Yes tweaks in menu can better the out of box modes.enough that going back and forth between the 2 doesn't feel off to me.
LG CX has far superior Motion clarity than the G4 G5 because LG removed 120 OLED MOTION PRO HIGH
It's about 4x from what I heard.
I tested it myself on 60hz (edge on xbox doesn't support 120hz)
But 120 pix/s sample and hold looks the same as 480 pix/s BFI in UFO test.
Bro is the motion clarity on by standard when in gaming mode??😮
@@Serandi1987
If I remember right you have to disable instant game response on the TV an Auto low latency on the xbox and VRR also doesn't work with BFI.
Than you have to set OLED motion pro on high (BFI of LG) on the TV.
And also important:
On 60fps games set the xbox to 60hz and 120fps to 120hz!
60fps on 120hz BFI you get frame doubling.
@patrickbenz1561
Yes thank you I did this everything when I had a Xbox and PS5 but I've sold them and only use a PC on the C1. But I really need a very low latency and input lag because I play Tekken 8 online a lot. When I set to 120 FPS@120Hz in gaming mode I wonder if Motion Pro high is working also with it in the background 🧐🤔
@@Serandi1987
I think it's greyed out so it doesn't work. But from my understanding auto low latency is only a Feature to ensure your TV switches to game mode when playing a game. If you activate game mode manually you should have the same result.
BFI itself might add a few ms of input lag but VRR is much worse from what I heard and many people use it without knowing. 🤷♂️
I would like you to make a dedicated video for the settings of the LG G4 for PlayStation 5
Will wait for S95G or LG G6. I'm satisfied with my S95B (Maxlux and Anapeak enabled).
I'm still keeping my CX ,still good as new keeping it until PS6 arrived.
Wow, that G4 is shining 🤩
My C1 still blows me away.
Me too🎉
I'll probably stick with my CX for 10 years. It's still better than almost every TV on the market and I don't feel any need to upgrade it, even though I've had it for over 4 years.
Maybe when everything is QD OLED with 2000 nits and HDMI 2.3 for a cheap-ish price, then maybe it will be time for an upgrade.
Preach! Unless in 2028 next gen consoles will support some new HDMI format that offers some tangible benefits - I don't see any reason to upgrade the TV. CX supports absolutely all features that I need so far.
Of course that's if I don't get burn in or some other malfunction occurs.
...
And my 1 year old started paying attention to the TV and throwing toys at it so potentially I won't be a CX owner next time something heavy flies into the tv 😂
I upgraded from CX to G4 and could not be happier even with the MLA panel, I guess if I waited for the G5 it would be even better, but you never know whats coming, and I don't think its going to be night and day between G4 and G5, yes increased peak brightness and brighter colors, but the G4 is so great already and its still very new. Next upgrade will be on G8 or G9, then we can see the insane difference, but by then maybe we see PH-OLED or microLED TVs, QD-OLED will also be superb, but Samsung needs to cut their matte screens first.... I loved my LG OLED CX as well
Increíble how good all the LG tvs are , and age well , yes the CX is far behind the G4 but not a day and night for most of the cases , I think the change will be really dramatic against the G5 with the new tech from the CES 2025😊
I have a CX bought new at the time in 55 inches and recently a G4, in 65 inches. From now on the cx serves me as a PC monitor exclusively, a separate gaming room, and it always works without the slightest problem, no burnin, no dead pixels. Almost like new. Never had any regrets with it, I hope that my G4 in 4 years will still work as well 😊
Hello! Can you provide your settings for gaming on the G4? Thanks!!
Where can you buy new old stock of the CX?
I’m perfectly happy with the TV, I just want to upgrade the size.
Really helpfull video my friend. Love my cx.untill there is a problem with my tv, I'm very happy with cx for the ps5.
There’s is a bigger difference between the G2 and the G4
Then The CX AND THE G2
And that’s surprisingly good. Im owing a G2 at the moment and I love the tv in motion and and the overall picture quality but whenever there are bright scenes I feel like the ABL is just a bit too agressive. Im consuming mostly sdr content watching tv shows like anime or sport content and those scenes can cat get very bright and colorful . I think I’m gonna wait for the G5 to have the perfect experience
I will be upgrading for my 2018 LG C8 OLED 55” to the 2025 LG G5 OLED 77”. It will be exciting to see the difference.
I have a C1 and a G2 both I got them when first came out amazing tvs plain and simple
As always, great content during the hot CES period. Thanks to your advice, I bought an optical HDMI cable and no longer have issues with the image appearing on the S95C. Looking forward to the comparison with the G4. I gave the CX to the kids, and they’re thrilled. 😉
I have both a C9 and a CX in 55 inches. The C9 I have in the loft and probably gets around 2 hours use a week since purchased. The CX in the living still going strong with no issues but would love to upgrade to a 77inch G4 this year.
I will buy the next TV with HDMI 2.2 in a few Years. Im still satisfied with my 65“ C1❤
Compare to s95c?)

Great video Markus! I really feel this reiterates my point that even between the CX and G4..... the CX remains a fantastic TV even 5 years on. This is how I felt going from C1 to G4. Yes, improvements but nothing mind-blowing, which is what I was expecting. Great video, I can see you went into a lot of detail. The community thanks you.
@@ILT_AU thanks Adam
Thy C1 is still great for movies.
I replaced it with the G4 and shifted the C1 to my bedroom. The C1 is fantastic bedroom TV for shows and movies.
@@cogthusiast1150 I still use my C1 as much as my G4. I don’t find myself choosing which TV to use, I find myself choosing the room I want to use. Both are just as great as each other. OLED level is just so good even on C series TVs. It’s the killer.
I own a lg nanocell tv, and I would definitely, upgrade to a lg g4, because that would be a big upgrade for me! It will also be my first oled tv ever.
Still running my 65B8 (Living Room) and 48G3 (PC) There is definitely a brightness difference between the two. But that B8 still impresses me to this day. Only wish that it had 120Hz and or VRR.
It would be nice if you could compare it to your S95C.
I have had my G2 for two years now and have 1703 hours on it and I will most likely move my G2 to my bedroom and get the 83”G5 this year since there will be no 83” QD OLED.
I'm rocking the LGXC and the Sony 930e, I don't want to get rid of my Sony, but it might be worth trying to sell both to put towards the G4..
Well actually the CX is in its 5th year and very soon we'll be getting the new C5. Considering this I think the CX has held up considerably well!
I can't wait getting LG OLED TVs with 240Hz panels 🙏🏻
Just in terms of brightness I would be convinced to upgrade, especially for gaming. For now I'm sticking with my 77" G1 tho and in 1-2 years I'm gonna upgrade to the G6 or G7. I wanna see if they either continue to improve the 4-stack panel or maybe decide to combine it with MLA again and I would like to have at least one port (not eARC) to be the new HDMI 2.2 bandwidth of 96 Gbps and maybe even 240 Hz already, so it is ready for the next gen of GPUs as well and can make proper use of Nvidia's new multi frame generation.
Please add for lg cx last software service menu calibration colors
I have a C1 and bought a G4 on sale last month. It’s nice but I’m not “wow’d” by the upgrade. I’ll give it another 60 days with Costco then probably return. Also has a dead or stuck subpixel in the corner that won’t go away. I think C1 to G5 will be a much better upgrade and I can wait another 10 months for it to go on sale.
my cx is too bright i have to put it on medium power so its not too bright i dont know why u guys want more brigthness when cx is too much that i have to turn down settings
My upgrade needs are urgent.... 😅😬 My tv is turning 14 years in a few weeks
I would get a G4 (55 inch) on clearance if the price is right
I'm in the same situation. I have a 2010 LG LH 55-inch LED so my TV is 15 years old. I was waiting for the G4 to get around $3,500 but I don't know if I should get the G5 which will be around $3,500 for Black Friday this year as I'm NOT spending over $4,000 on ANY TV.
@davidross7255 I thought I was alone. 🤯 where do you live that the prices are so high 👀?
@@FredT1988 I live in the United States in Michigan. When the LG G4 released last year, it's release price was $4,600 (for a 77-inch). By Black Friday the price had dropped to $3,500 which they were all sold out. Now it's back up to $3,900, so my struggle is should I wait for the G5 or buy the G4 when the price drops. I forgot to add I'm looking at getting a 77-inch G4 or G5.
@@davidross7255 I bought a G4 77" for $2,999 from the LG Partner Store. That included a free 7.1.3 Atmos Soundbar (valued at $800) and free wall mounting service. Bought it maybe 5 months after the G4 released. Don't wait for Black Friday sales. These sales happen randomly throughout the year.
I'm still with my CX, I was thinking of upgrading to the G4 but think I'll wait for the G5. I like everything I'm seeing from the G5, it looks very impressive.
Also, you should make your videos HDR so those of us watching on an HDR display can really see the difference with these TV's.
He uploads a lot of hdr videos
@@Brandon_Mishima 👍🏼
Hey GamingTech.. i recommend you take a look at S.T.A.L.K.E.R. G.A.M.M.A With the new 0.9.3. update for the 3rd anniversary.
YOU love HDR right? Well in the settings theres at least 15 hdr settings,i've never seen so many HDR settings! Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Peace
The G5 is going to make us all cry
I’ve got a G3 so I’m guessing I’ll be sticking with that for a while
Having a little more brightness is not going to sway me to upgrade lol. Until they have some groundbreaking feature like AI-integrated upscaling, I will ride my current OLED into the ground
c1 and thinking about getting c4. Got 11k hours on c1 and no burn in at all.. but it's probably close
the G series got no stand and it's too expensive
My c3 48 inch still looks amazing to me
Use DTM on on Lg cx and you re fine
Seeing news what G5 offers i would skip G4, i am on 77 G3 bought 6 months ago so i will stay on it for a while. Hopefully adding more layers + MLA will make me look at a new OLED in 2-3 years and it will have around 10K nits. This year I am getting RTX 5090 to game on the damn thing in full res and high framerate :)
Looks more like MLA is dead. Production cost seems way too high. Not even the Z series of LG is using it anymore
@@knochey2296 LG doesn't have a Z series, you mean Panasonic probably.
No more MLA, and 10K nits wont achieve OLEDs ever, they now squeeze out the last performance they can, when blue phosphorescent emitter will be available we will see another increase in brightness, probably they will reach around 4K nits and thats it.
@@AexoeroV oh you're right they renamed it to M4 and now M5
@@knochey2296 MLA is not inferior by any means. If anything, the G4 will have more expensive materials than the G5.
Brightness isn't a problem on any OLED.
What IS a problem tho is how much brighter WHITES are compared to everything else. The white brightness ratio is wayyyy off, all the time.
Yes, you can turn contrast down, but sadly that also lowers all brightness in general.
LG's OLEDs don't have a brightness issue, they have a *brightness balancing* issue.
This is coming from me, a C1 and C3 owner. Love the TVs! Just wish that the whites would stop out-ratioing all other colours on screen.
Upgraded from a CX to G4 it took a lot of second guessing do I really need another TV but after getting the G4 mostly for gaming I'm very happy with my purchase the brightness and color quality is amazing
I almost never used HGIG on my CX because it was laughably dim with HGIG. I would have liked to see DTM with the CX vs. the G4/G2 with HGIG. I guess the CX is gone now though so oh well.
Great video Markus! I have been a very happy CX user now for 4 years (not sure how many hours I have) but I feel G5 could be good prospect to move on to once the price comes down in the fall.
I am torn though, as I also would be interested to upgrade my 4080 to a 5090 and that would probably cost about the same here in Finland.
Choices, choices…
CX is bright enough if you watch in a dark room like most people do. Going to upgrade eventually though, maybe the G5 lol.
It’s still not worth upgrading unless your older LG bites the dust. All these tv’s look amazing in person and if you have a cx…just keep your room dark and it’s still blinding 😂
It's brighter. That's really all that comes through on camera.
Love this video because I had the CX for the longest period of time I’ve had about $30,000 dollars in 4K tvs since the Samsung JS9000 which was one of the first 4K TVs and the CX was one of my favorites. The question is pick up the G4 77 when it drops to 3K USD in a few weeks or grab the G5?? Questions questions
My C9 is still alive and kicking. Less than 4k hours aswell
I have the cx and g4 too. The g4 is amazing. And I was really happy with my cx. Can’t wait to see if the g5 gives me fomo later this year.
I am the same. Had the CX in 65" which I loved and now the G4 in 77" and its amazing. That recent CES showing of the G5 is making me nervous for sure. FOMO time!
@ as I said to my mate who bought a g4 at the same time as me. Even if Sony lg Panasonic and Samsung all knock it out of the park this year. You will still have the 5th best tv that has ever been made.
Also we can wait for the g6/7 to see how the tech develops before upgrading again.
For the next year though it’s all good for us both 😀
I hope QD oled tvs will become hgig support some day too
my c9 has hit 23k hours and is only just starting to show subtle burn in on yellows
CX to G2 was certainly not worth it and a waste of money. CX to G4 would have been a much bigger upgrade. Even then, I would have held onto my CX and definitely upgraded to the G5 this year.
Why don't you consider an qd oled?
I have the S95C
Thank you for the great content. For your own gaming on the G4, are running it out of the box with warm 50 as only change? Or do you use any other settings?
Good video, but with the G5 already shown at CES, is it not a little redundant
What's your opinion on Expression enhancer? Do you use it?
im lookin at either upgrading to a G4 or the sony A95L
My lg oled b9 is still really really very nice and good. Super Black and Brighton enough. Im going most with dtm on and full rgb and beliveve me looks awesome
I have a Panasonic jz1500. It was the brightest oled tv when it came out. I only will upgrade when it dies and probably buy a Panasonic again.
Have you done any settings yet for the G4 ?
G4 is very bright and vibrant but G5 looks to be even better
I think to go to a G5 this year on black sale after my C1.
Hi I'm buying a new TV this year I'm deciding between the LG G4 65 and Sony XR 65A 80L do you have a recommendation? The LG is probably better but costs here in Germany 500 euros more than the Sony and I'm wondering if it's worth the price difference.
I Have c2 and that's just fine and bright enough for now.
They got the new Web OS for older LG OLEDs rolling out now. Makes no sense to get a new LG OLED if your TV is included in LG’s Renew programme. Change TV after 5 years when software updates stop coming for your tv
Mimha cx ainda está firme e forte. Usando direto desde 2020 e realmente estou surpreso com essa tv. Imagem e som de qualidade.
Can you compare it to SAMSUNG S90C
Very good video. Thanks :)
seems like the reds look better on the G2 and CX
Question to you Marcus how many hours you got on samsung 95c?
QD-OLED is the greatest commercially viable TV technology ever devised by mankind. Once the full screen brightness matches LCD in SDR, it's game over. Nothing will even come close.
I will be looking at the 42 inch TVs. Perfect size for me to work as a monitor also. Any news on the C5 42 inches? Or if any other brand will touch this size?
There's a 42 inch G5 this year as well but there are some differences like the picture processor but like the 42 inch, I believe it doesn't have the brightness booster
Update: I mean't to say 48 inches. Need ☕
@FredT1988 Searched the internet, it says 48 inches.
@@Apostle_of_Fate My apologies. I just woke up. I meant 48 inches. I'll go make a cup of coffee now 😂

can you possibly do the comparison on Astro Bot home base (in beachy area), i wanna see how G4 handles that as on my C1 it looks very dull cause of ABL
In astro bot you can notice on most of G4s the Vertical Banding easily! That’s really said…
you should have added us C9 users 2019 oled I saw the G4 in person it does not look like a huge upgrade but I do see a brightness increase and the new G5 is only 165hz I might wait until 240hz hits tv's before I upgrade thanks for this I can at least compare CX since its closer to C9
Compared to C9 newer models tend to be too bright in SDR. I set my G3 to 20 or 65 brightness, because otherwise it's too bright. But regarding HDR content or SDR content like concerts or scifi, the G3 looks much better than the C9. Taylor Swift is finally sparkling, which I never saw on my C9 and newer models of the TV are even brighter. I always thought my C9 was bright enough, but after experiencing my G3 I want my next tv to be even brighter. Not for everyday content, but for HDR, scifi and concerts.
if i find someone to sell my C2 i mighy buy G5.
65 inch models have decent liquidity so i have a chance. It's not burned in or anything, good as new.
It is. But with a G5
Haha I lied. My 77 inch c2 still looks insane. I will wait for it to explode before upgrading
Please try dolby vision on LG G4, black ops 6 on Xbox is native dolby vision
Hey GamingTech my friend, I have a conundrum for you.. Path of Exile 2 on PC.. HDR is decent but try turning on Windows Auto HDR and clicking HDR off in game menus and which one is the real HDR? Am confused because there is way more color and pop… but is that a bug? And it looks way better than the regular HDR with Auto HDR turned off … not sure if you’d have time to test but it’s interesting, plus curious with your tools.. which one is real?
Also, to explain further… if Auto HDR is turned on, the HDR in the game is broken… very washed out. So it’s not just a “okay so that’s just Auto HDR” taking over… or is it?
for me game motion plus , blurs too much of the image is so bad for me of course
My cx is still beast. Waiting for c5
2025: 4-Stack OLED; 2026: 4-Stack OLED + MLA hopefully. And I need 97 Inch, currently only „regular“ EX panel. Our 83G2 is still good for another 2 years
Why not calibrate the cx with higher contrast and brightness. You cant really compare out the box settings.
@@angelosouliotis7753 of course because that's HDR OotB which means max Brightness in FMM and Game Mode
@GamingTech-UA-cam yes we know but please rerun this test with the cx with 5 clicks color, 5 clicks sharpness,5 clicks panel contrast added and see how much closer the cx will run
@@angelosouliotis7753 contrast is set to 100 in HDR FMM. Same for brightness
I recently had 5 friends in a well lighted room (natural light) looking at my C2 at maximum brightness to see if they said something about. First they were surprised by the colours and brightness (neither of them have OLEDS, just big IPS or VA). And after 15 min, all of them asked me to lower the brightness because they were uncomfortable 😂. I was too as well, but I needed to test them for science lol.
I ended lowering the brightness by 50%, wich was what they felt comfortable with.
So... Yeah, I tested this with lots of different people when I can. And even here, in internet, I feel there's very little people that can tolerate more than the average brightness. I encountered like, 2?
Don't be mislead, people. Oleds are plenty bright unless you're in a white room or in plain street under the sun.
My C2 doesn't look nearly as dark as this G2 shows here, wich I suppose is at a lowered bright (because a G2 is brighter, ofc).
I like this videos, but they are not realistic. 3/4 of OLED consumers probably can't tolerate more than 1000 nits for longer periods. And I play/watch for hours, and not at couch distance (I simply don't have the room nor the sight to do it) but more closer.
Oleds are great, don't fear them if you can get one. Even little ones! And don't underestimate their brightness!
s95C vs G4 comparasion next
Still using a LG C9 😂. But what about the G3?
