Were you in low primarily for most of this video? Taking my 900 out for the first time this weekend, hopefully it won’t be too crazy.

I ride in low probably 90% of the time. Just be careful riding there because the trails are two ways and extremely tight. There is a ton of blind corners. Last time that I rode there in February I almost had two head on collisions with a sport quad and an mx bike. They really need to make the trails one way. Easiest place for riding that I've ever done, but the most dangerous.

@@off-roadridingadventures7129 This is what I've heard. Going to just take it low and slow and try to stay on the edge of the trails best I can. Thanks man.

Fun high speed trails but dangerous as they are not set up for one way traffic.

The Ocala National Forest OHV trail system is dangerous by design. As an example the Centennial trail on the south side of forest is 40 miles of mostly sharp apex blind corners many with burms that make people ride the trail like a racetrack. The problem is the trail system (like all Ocala OHV trails) runs BOTH DIRECTIONS which makes it inevitable that OHV operators will encounter head on traffic. If it happens in a corner as it commonly does the result is a head on collision in the middle of nowhere and in most cases without cell phone coverage to call 911 or emergency services. This will eventually cause someone to get killed. To make this worse most operators far exceed the speed limit of 20mph so even if you travel at the speed limit it is VERY possible that you will run head on into someone who is going much faster. I am an experienced rider and I can tell you from experience if this happens there is no time to stop. Plainly put the trail system is not safe to ride and needs to be redesigned or modified before someone dies. Heres the math: each vehicle @ 20mph> 20+20=40 mph impact or much worse if either vehicle is going faster and most people ride much faster than 20mph.

I agree. I will never ride there on a weekend. We have always rode during the week. If they were one way trails they would be fun.

So all you did was stay at fort mc coy and buy the day passes??

    • @off-roadridingadventures7129

Yes, but give Fort McCoy KOA a call first. Last time that I was there, they were supposed to have a meeting with the county about trail access from the koa. The county didn't want to allow riders on a 50 yard section of trail along the county road to cross over into the forest trail system. I don't know if they got that issue resolved.

I just checked and their website says that they have trail access. You just need to buy your passes at one of the ranger drop boxes. We usually get them at the long leaf trail head.

@@off-roadridingadventures7129 nice! I’m looking at getting one early to mid next year and wanted to be sure there are enough trails in Ocala and stuff to fit the XP’s width.

@@tugcrazy Ocala is a tight fit for anything but a quad an a MX bike. Osceola is about an hour away and way better riding in my opinion.

@@off-roadridingadventures7129 that’s good to know. It will come down a lot to price but in my opinion I’m going to get the xp if possible. We have some riding spots around here too that it should be good in for it’s size as well.

@@tugcrazy I live in Georgia, but ride Osceola several times a year since I have family down there. Ocala would be great if the trails were one way. I've never been to Hogwaller which is in Palatka.
