When we are in the midst of agonizing circumstances that seem hopeless, we should freely share our painful thoughts and feelings with God. Prayer should be a pervasive part of our lives, and God desires that we pray about everything (Philippians 4:6), but, for most of us, we seek God’s help more earnestly when our life circumstances are more desperate. If we need comfort, help, direction, we would do well to go to God. Personally, the times in my life that have taken me ‘two inches off the floor’ have also lifted me up to the throne of God. Even if God seems far away, He has promised that He is near. Even when we feel alone, God has promised never to leave us or forsake us. It is important that we learn that prayer can, should be our first response, not our last resort. We can be starkly honest with the Lord, when we pray. He knows it all anyway, but it is in our honest, intense expressions of whatever we’re feeling and dealing with that the Holy Spirit can impact us at just the right time. Why would we want to miss out on that! Thanks for the teaching, Dr. G.
