    Hello, I figured out that you have to click on fixed part in assembly and select float to have bolt go in and out. How can I choose to put a thread on a 8" boat shaft end for propeller nut? How do you choose a different size other than what is offered in selection?

    Hi, there is a way to automatize the NPT or BSPP thread like holes wizard or could be posible create a library that form the thread on a conical part?

    So you drew the nut and bolt, but it would have been nice if you would have explained how to avoid making your nut to big or to small for the the bolt if you didn't want to follow the dims you were using. I'm new to this and I have to make a specialized nut for a 5/8 bolt, so how do I insure that my nut will be the correct size for my bolt? Now that's what I need to learn.

      in thread future command is specification part, where you can choose what kind of thread u need :)

    Hello, excellent video. I recreated the bolt and nut in Solidworks and they looks great. I then used the Interference Detection and Solidworks found interference between the bolt and t-nut. I did this after I 3D printed both parts on a Dremel 3D45 and of course they don't screw together. The Dremel probably doesn't have the highest precision for the job but I would have thought the alignment would have been better but the interference was 72.44mm^3. Not sure if the interference is cause by the machine mate between the parts and the surfaces I selected but the D printed part don't seem to work. Not sure why ...

      you should make t-nut and the screw same pitch, i have used here arbitrarily dimensions and that is the reason for this problem, make them both 1.75, hole for the t-nut 10.2

    Thanks. I have a question. I’m making a threaded hole from scratch. What would be the hole diameter. Would it be the major diameter or minor dimeter. Say I want a 1”-12. What would be my initial hole size? Thanks in advance

      Metric tap cuts into the hole.
      Metric die adds the thread to the hole surface.

    You looked used to Solidworks... I'm using Solidworks 2020 but I'm having trouble with the inner thread. I used hole wizard to make the hole but the thread doesn't appear during assembly like my lecturer did. Do I have to make the thread manually or change some options in the wizard hole?
    I tried :
    1.Hole Type = Hole 2.Hole Type = Straight Tap
    Standard = ANSI METRIC Standard = ANSI METRIC
    Type = Tap drills Type = Tapped Hole
    Size = M6x1.0 Size = M6x1.0
    Blind Hole Depth = 10mm Blind Hole Depth = 10mm
    Thread Depth = 12mm
    Both of these don't work... or rather none of the hole wizards have pre-built inner thread during assembly

      you can check if your Cosmetic Threads are unable.
      You have one option that is called Annotations and you can find it Future Design Tree, click right click, and enable Cosmetic thread and Shaded cosmetic threads.

    Why should the hole be 10.9mm before making the thread? Is there a rule or something?

      dimensions for this video are taken arbitrarily.
      but for example: hole size for M12 is 10.5mm and M12 screw is Ø12mm and M12 standard Pitch is 1.5mm
      for M8 hole size is 6.75mm screw is Ø8mm and Pitch is 1.25mm.

      same as this video, but in 2013 you have not thread futures :(
      thread futures comes after 2016
