This is one of those things I didn't see too many people bring up about the old games - But, I really can't imagine playing AC without it. It made everything about the journey more enjoyable, and it's something I'm looking forward to seeing with whatever comes after AC6 :)
@@Stealthbat Unfortunately it only really worked when the Console was the same. So, going from AC5 to AC6 probably wouldn't work unfortunately, but when they release the next game after AC6, I have a feeling you will -
it wont also work going from 4-5 but 4 and for answer will likewise ACV to VD likewise which is why I'm not sure how they will go forward from AC6 will the expansion be considered DLC? or a game in its own right like how monster hunter still does it
@@Stealthbat Basically, within a generation, you can load the old into the new in sequence. This was a huge thing, it meant each time a new numbered game came out, it was time to start over. It's something I've loved since loading Project Phantasma for my PS1 oh so long ago.
This is one of those age of memory cards things that makes me sad they went away. Stuff like Psycho Mantis reading your "mind" and commenting on what games you've played, or the Dreamcast cards you could keep little pets in.
It’s not all gone on pc some game have and can read stuff on the computer like DDLC and with special permission I don’t see why a console game can’t read your accounts history or what games are installed it just will be a lot of work to implement
Your own skills transferring from game to game is pretty much why I love the Soulsborne series so much, you get good at one, you get good at all of them, your own skills level up along the character in the game.
I'm so happy to see Amored Core making a comeback. I have been loving these recap videos on the series lately Royal. I remember my first Amored Core game being the one for the PSP back in the day forgot the title of that one. But took me awhile to get hooked. Then I forgot about the series for awhile, till I picked up the one for the ps3 on a store sale. So in my life I have got to experience 3 of the games. So I am looking forward to this new one for being my fourth return to the series. hard to imagine I was only in my late teens early 20's when I discovered this fun arcade series experience of the mech world. :)
I remember after beat AC1 you can play it again in first person view, but I do not remember how many times you have to die... From Software does this gives you difficult games/missions but always a reward, and the best there is no pay to win or microtransactions
A funny thing about this for me is that a lot of the sequels within a generation would have just been DLC in the modern day. Project Phantasma, Silent Line, Another Age, all stand out in that way. So you would have had your save file with that entire warehouse of parts anyway.
There was literally only, ONE..other franchise (that I know of) that I know of that did anything remotely close to this. That was Ratchet & Clank and it only applied discounts. Only years later, did Mass Effect carry data over but if still wasn't to the same extent that Armored Core did it. No other franchise has come close, and it's why Fromsoftware has always been, the king of entertainment companies.
Actually, I think the older Gundam Breaker games did this as well. As a matter of fact, I know they did. They had an "Import" feature you could use to transfer your parts over from the save file of the previous game.
Imagine a game, in which you built or soured your relationship with a character. And she remembered what you did many games later... Almost like our time spent and choices made actually mattered... Who am I kidding, the AAA game industry would find that sus.

Being able to start PP and MoA with Human+ and the Karasawa or FINGER was always a fun trip lmfao, and it always kept a sense of overall progression through the gens. Like even if you weren't the same character in lore, you were at least the same player. FromSoft did drop the ball on this feature a few times, though, like how you can't transfer from PS2 SL to Nexus (cause of the major rebalance, but you can at least go from SL Portable to LR Portable so that's something) or the transfer between 4-fA was only schematics and paints. The former was understandable, the latter not so much.
You really don’t see this from game studios today, so I can understand the vets. being concerned with the changes in AC6. But I think your right and hope the changes give it the recognition it deserves.
Hey Royal Skies, I know how much you love armored core. Since you are going all in on UA-cam now, I think making a second channel devoted just to AC will help grow your brand, and give you a better outlet for expressing all that creative energy for AC. I'd say to jump on it right now too because of AC6. Whether livestreaming or making traditional videos, I think this could help your revenue a ton, and you could just make videos about what you want and when you want so it didn't become tedious.
0:59 Blizzard Entertainment in a nutshell. They are notorious for being the fun police and will come up with arbitrary reasons why you shouldn't have fun. lol
There has always been at least 1 sequel in each AC generation, and all of those had the ability to convert old saves. I think it's safe to say, the same will be true for gen 6. At least, I'm hopeful it will be. Gen 3 was a bit weird though, as that had 2 distinct "sub-generations" that could not cross over (Silent Line to Nexus). On a side note, it was also possible to convert the same emblem all the way from AC2 to Last Raven.
You gotta bring up the paint/emblem editors in AC. So much cosmetic value and not a micro transaction in sight. It embarrasses games where you spend money to be allowed to look blue
1:05 "the devs make new rules and new patches... well armored core never did that" I wouldn't say never. Pretty sure they changed the behavior of the hover booster after the first game because it allowed crazy flight times, but I could be mistaken.
I've been loving the recent armored core content, and been watching your videos over and over. I started playing armored core 2 the first time a couple months back, after changing my controls a little bit I'm in love with the series. And I'm looking forward to more videos about it. I was wondering what you thought of the fan game hammer. Here's a video of you haven't seen it yet, or just go type it in on UA-cam. Will there be a chance that we get to see a breakdown of how to recreate to recreate armored core mechanics and something like? I want to create my own fan game now, and I already have a bunch of low poly Mech models. ua-cam.com/video/HJGCS_hruHM/v-deo.html

@@lesslighter I suppose, but to me it almost seems like cleverly disguised DLC only difference being they make you pay for an entire game to get an item that you may potentially need to make finishing the game feasible.
