Yea, we saw his performance against Thiago who tore his ACL, MCL, and PCL. Makes you wonder about the DC fights. An Jones fans saying the leg had nothing to do with the outcome are just idiots.
I really make nothing of it. His fight with OSP was nothing special but then he KOd DC in the 2nd. He then went on to take Smith to a decision before stopping Gus in spectacular fashion. I think if he rematches Thiago he'll do a lot better. Not to mention he didn't even shoot in for a single takedown.
They didn't. Santos was moving well and Jon chose not to grapple. something he said himself. Santos never stood a chance I mean ffs Jon didn't even attack his bad leg. He gave Santos his fighting chance.
Exactly, his body was flat, his edge was gone, his aggression and confidence was shot and he barely got a split decision to a guy on one leg. He definitely is going back to the sauce against Walker
Jones is incredibly arrogant and probably figured santos would throw himself out in a round or two. Wouldn't surprise me if Jones half assed his training and on top of it he tried to beat him at his own game as usual. Not convinced Jones was on or off roids but he looked totally frozen against a one legged opponent and almost certainly would have lost otherwise.
I just take it as Jones fights up to his level. His fight with OSP was nothing special but then he knocked DC out in round 2. His fight with Smith was nothing special but then he finishes Gus in spectacular fashion. I believe if he rematches Thiago, we'll see a different Jones. Keep in mind he didn't even shoot in for a takedown, once!
Hi T1000 Exactly what I believe. If they rematch then Jones puts him on his back and gets the finish. People forget Jones stood toe to toe with a killer and was smart enough to not take a huge risk. Wait until his next fight, he will dismantle whoever is unlucky enough to be in there will have a bad night!
If Santos wanted to become champ, this was the fight to make it happen. Next time, Jones will take him down at will and break him there. The ones booing were uneducated "fans". It was an exciting and close contest. I had Jones winning, but barely. Santos silenced many critics who said he didn't deserve to be there. Including myself. Great fight.
Ah. So you are informed. But yet it doesnt fit the equation for the one who won the battle. To me, it would be a majority draw, but "And still...". And Johny Walker is coming for him. Maybe Thiago will never return healthy enough. But if he does, we may have a vicious fight.
If there were a conspiracy involving Woodley, do you really think the UFC would be pulling strings *for* him? Dana hates him and he doesn't even try to hide it.
ALWAYS a complaint when jones wins....wtf is your argument? "Santos was still standing at the end of the fight, therefore he deserves the draw"....you think the champ should lose his 24-0 record because some guy didnt look to bad against him?
I respect that, even the haters see the truth. I mean I'm team Jones but that Gus fight was closer than this one. People wanted to see a slaughter and since it wasn't now Jon's legacy is in question.

Haha keep telling yourself that. Did you forget he is being tested by two federations now and if he gets popped again 4 year ban. He fought him natty plain and simple.
@@djsulphur And you keep telling yourself that Jones is a product of PED's. We'll keep watching him win and you'll keep crying about whatever you can come up with to try to avoid dealing with another W from the champ.
But chael, he held his take downs back intentionally to bring this effect forward. Gambling that he could out point him. Hiding his true game. He literally points it out in post fight press conference, I do not believe for a second a lack of peds made him shy for take downs. He gambled and it paid off. Watch next time he will counter leg kicks with take downs
Why cant you judge 9-9 rounds, pisses me off. So many rounds nothing much happens or very close , so just give it a draw. The 2nd round was a perfect draw round. Then 2-2 each for both. I dont know how anyone can score it different. 5 rounds drive me mad like chael says , they mostly result in injuries and are less action packed generally.
You mean 10-10, the scoring system is a 10 point must system, meaning that at least one fighter must get a 10(not counting point deductions). Also, you can score rounds 10-10, the judges just don't like to for some reason.
Jon Jones only "major heel turn" was ruined to me when "American" media started catching on with "the actions" that portrayed and to this day portrays him as a "bad guy".
an established championship fight is a psychological trip for judges - they dont want to strip the champ in a close fight and will always make the same decision. not saying you have to KO the champ, but you have to win DECISIVELY, which Santos did not do
LMAOOOOOOOO imagine thinking the Thiago fight would’ve been nearly as close if Jon decided to take it to the ground. He didn’t do it because of pride like he admitted and he still won. Bunch of wishful thinking casuals in the comments thinking Jon isn’t as dangerous anymore. Sad
Jonny Walker will be the man to beat Jones. Santos proved that these young guys are not scared of Jones anymore. Everyone that has fought jones up intill now was beat before the bell.
Don’t be silly, look what he did to dc and gus in the rematch’s. Like it or not jones is the best until proved otherwise. Even if he gets beat there’s always a rematch and walkers already been beat....
Gda Rippa you do realize that Jon fought santos at where he’s literally best at and didn’t use any type of ground game you have absolutely no idea what your talking about
Harden J.I.D - He couldn’t take him down and he didn’t wanna get too close to Santos Santos won rounds 1,2 and 5 Clean Jones isn’t the best in the World and I can’t wait for Johnny Walker to get another win so he can beat the biggest cheater in MMA Take notes kid
Nexus_AOR no he didn’t,why are so many people exaggerating Santos leg injury? Yes a torn acl and the other things he had do hurt he was not standing on one leg during the fight,he was throwing the leg for fuck sake and even jones didn’t know that it was his knee,I bet if jones would have known he would have attacked it and used it to his advantage
I also argued with my buddies about round two and the entire fight. My point was have we all forgotten about how octagon control is one of the judging measurements? It's effective striking, grappling AND octagon control and Jon had the control for almost the entire fight. Commentators never mention it anymore but nevertheless it remains a key performance indicator.
Watching it live had my palms sweating . I was on the edge of my seat nervous to see how this fight was going to go. In real time it's hard to see which shots landed and which didnt. After seeing some replays you can see that Santos almost connected, but never hit clean.....which was obvious because Santos could knock out an elephant. And jones never got wobbled....that doesn't mean jones has an iron chin.....it means he moved enough to only get a light hit. After the fight you can see who had any marks on their face. Jones didn't even look like he fought. That's impossible if Santos actually landed clean. He punches hard enough to fight Ngannou.
When I saw Chael in the WEC almost 2 decades ago, I knew this guy was far above the level I was viewing in that organization. Who would have known he was arguably the most entertaining personalities I've seen in the UFC . (Dont forget, one of the best fighters ever).
I see how you are trying to make us think logically. I think most people are always going to assume Jon is on something even if hes not and the next time the picograms show up again controversy will pick up again. Also could you explain to us what happened with Omaly? Wasnt he found with picograms too?
Chael huge fan for ten years , you are pumping to many vids to often , also the driving vids were great this is a bit akward , huge fan offering kind suggestions
You guys really like to compare the way he fights from one fight to another while you ignore the fact that he fights every individual differently. Just watch the Gus 2 fight where he threatened for a takedown even as early as round 1. Watch the Smith fight where he liked to keep it on the feet! He fights everyone differently. He fought Santos completely on the feet without attempting takedowns. My point is Jon will bring something different against every new opponent!
It’s arguable that reason Jon didn’t try to take santos down was because he didn’t want to be that close and risk getting knocked out. He looked scared of the power. Now imagine that against ngannou who is the same length and height as him but with MORE power than santos. And that freakish ability to find chins from whack angles. I doubt Jon takes the ngannou fight
A point that's not mentioned is throughout Jon's career he's been the type of fighter who rises to the level of his opponent. Guys who he thinks are not 'worthy' or whatever, he fights bad fights against. I think Santos was one such fight. I don't think it's indicative of his overall skills deteriorating or his physical capabilities going down. I just think he took a tough and determined fighter lightly.
The expression is: to be the champion, you have to beat the champion. It doesn't mean you really have to beat him harder than normal, it just means you can't be handed the title.
@@BoiledMilkSteak7 No, if they keep fighting they will keep getting injured. Maybe one more fight but these young guys, Walker and Rakic also, they are the most dangerous threats at LHW and should fight for a title next.
Is that really what people took from this fight? I thought while Jon had a sub par performance by his standards, and while Thiago outperformed his own standards, that Jon won the fight and that he played it smart. It was pretty clear that while he wanted to stay standing with him to test himself that he also respected Thiago’s striking and power and therefore never really committed in the exchanges.
As you once said, I think it would be interesting to see judges score the fight in full and not the universal round by round. I find that very interesting and would love to here your in depth thoughts on this topic. Thanks
the thing when jon jones entered the game who wasn't on PEDS so I guess it's hard to going clean even sonnen was juiced stop acting like everyone else was so honest
@@masrr3678 I don't think that DC you used to be the champ inn strikeforce doubt they were juicing then and gus that first fight. bit like gsp everyone he fought was juiced but he was beating them i doubt he was clean also
If in his next fight, he absolutely obliterates his opponent in impressive fashion.... are we gonna keep this narrative that "Jon Jones is not taking PED's anymore" going.... or are we gonna go right back to "Jon Jones is juicing"?. Just curious. Also amazing how Jon's bad performance is due to his lack of PED's..... not because Thiago Santos was a bad bad man that pushed him.... it can't be that right?
Jones literally destroyed legends who mostly were in their prime. He destroyed the best of this era in Gustafsson and Cormier both twice. But now after his suspension we are supposed to believe he cant finish Smith and almost losing to Santos who was on 1 leg? 2 average Middleweights?
By the way where was that clip you did talking about being the American gangster. That you have a maid and stuff that was hilarious stuff. I can't find it.
I can already see the ignorance in these comments. Jon off peds get split decisions thats not the case. Jon mayweathered santos. He had to nullify that huge puncher. Santos didnt do anthing besides throw ineffective flashy combos that didnt land. Basically just louds slaps that land to the arms and back. Look at jons face. No swelling whatsoever. Check out weathersby the savage reacts
Samuel I’ve been saying the same exact thing. Just 7 months ago he ran through Gus, he then dominated the Anthony Smith fight, won literally every minute. He fought Santos smart and avoided nearly every big shot. They were maybe 3 or 4 max that actually got through and connected cleanly. The man is still miles ahead of everyone else.
Anybody ever thought that Jon respected the guy so much that he didn’t want to take him out like that? Job clearly told y’all he wanted to beat Santos at his own game. Standup / Muay Tai... Jon also chased the guy around the ring the ENTIRE fight. In my opinion complete dominance by Jon.
There is a fighter, his name is Santos and he deserves a rematch. Bro, Notorious BGL, his whole leg was fuckered up almost the entire fight and almost won, he definitely deserves a rematch.
Santos won that fight with every ligament in his knee torn to absolute pieces... The way Santos dominated the 1st round if he didnt hurt that knee Jones could have very well been stopped. It only took a round to have him have to be carried out by 2 people. 1 more round of those kicks would have had him be a sitting suck in there. They should 100% run it back...
I still have to look it back. But I think that kick in the 2nd was to the chest. But I'd have to watch it back. But glad to hear someone else especially Chael give Santos r1-2 i did the same and have the same out look on it.
I totally agree. I thought it was one of those fights that was really close but where there was still a pretty clear winner on the 10 pt must system and I thought Santos won rounds 1,2 and 5. Considering he was literally on 1 leg for over 4 rounds as well I actually feel pretty bad for him.

That phrase was the Great Nature Boy Ric Flair, "to be the Man, you've got to beat the Man."
He was probably high off his ass when he said it. Oh well. It's still epic.
Very simple acknowledgy, but pathetic advise.
Juan Ruiz Jon will win in rematch by tko or submission.
@@aAS-wi9ks you do realize that Santos is a beast on the ground too right?
They didn't. Santos was moving well and Jon chose not to grapple. something he said himself. Santos never stood a chance I mean ffs Jon didn't even attack his bad leg. He gave Santos his fighting chance.
B Lambz not as good as Jones though
I'm willing to bet that Jones will have a Pico gram flare up if he has to fight Johnny Walker.
I think he flares up for his next fight no matter who's the opponent he knows he can't have another performance like that, back to back and I'm a fan.
Exactly, his body was flat, his edge was gone, his aggression and confidence was shot and he barely got a split decision to a guy on one leg. He definitely is going back to the sauce against Walker
And the flying knee
One leg Thiago Santos = non pico Jon Jones
Ah. So you are informed. But yet it doesnt fit the equation for the one who won the battle. To me, it would be a majority draw, but "And still...". And Johny Walker is coming for him. Maybe Thiago will never return healthy enough. But if he does, we may have a vicious fight.
funny how they gave Woodley a draw against Thomson but jon gets the W when his fight was closer foh
If there were a conspiracy involving Woodley, do you really think the UFC would be pulling strings *for* him? Dana hates him and he doesn't even try to hide it.
Kyle S. Tbh i dont hate woodley but he makes everybody hates him. I pity him
Woodley dropped him tho dipshit
It’s because Woodley is black.. and Dana and the fans are racist..
ALWAYS a complaint when jones wins....wtf is your argument? "Santos was still standing at the end of the fight, therefore he deserves the draw"....you think the champ should lose his 24-0 record because some guy didnt look to bad against him?
Chael is constantly walking on egg shells when he talks about Jon. He talks shit and then compliments Jon . Haha
What "shit" he says?
Pink Donna he wants jon to be successful. everyone makes more money that way, mark.
I thought it was a clear win for Jones and i absolutely hate Jones. Idk how people saw it any other way.
I respect that, even the haters see the truth. I mean I'm team Jones but that Gus fight was closer than this one. People wanted to see a slaughter and since it wasn't now Jon's legacy is in question.
@@FaunyOne the only reason why it would be questioned is because of him taking PED's. He clearly won by points with ease. I would lile to say though he was smaller then his last 2 fights for sure.

the way Jon moved out the way of Santos punches was amazing to see.
Let me catch Demetrious Johnson GSP or Silva win by a 5 round decision over a guy with 1 leg from the jump
Anderson Silva started a fight with 2 legs and ended with 1 leg
Lemme see Jon get koed in one of the greatest upsets in mma history by Matt Serra, or have his chin get clipped because he starts taunting in a fight he’s already losing, or losing to someone he koed in the first round from the past...
Last time I checked Thiago hurt his leg kicking Jon's leg. Also, Jon doesn't dry hump dudes for 5 rounds he stood toe to toe with the "KO" artist.
Bro GSP can't even finish a sandwich why did you bring him into this lol
Devon Singh gsp lost to matt serra but came back and obliterated him, same with his loss to matt hughes
I do agree that Johnny Walker is now the perfect match for JJ. By the way, Santos won by 48 x 47.
I can't believe Uncle Chael beat a juiced up Bones. Amazing.
Rigourz undefeated and undisputed p4p goat
Jon is lucky Chael didn't end his career with that Toe injury. He could have made it so much worse for him
Haha I love Chael he is so slick with the underhand boxing insults
My impression watching the fight was that Santos won, but definitely no robbery here - as close as it gets
Jon actually said hes proud of himself we all know why this was his first real fight off of ped and he needed that win to acknowledge he can do it without it you may actually not see a difference anymore he may be as good as he was he just needed to get over that hump think about it almost every fighter song when they stop they lose the fight they stop doing it with just think about that but Jon still won so it may help him mentally unlike others that lose but if you look at his style since hes been back he isnt as aggresive he times shots more and he waits longer this fight just shows you what confidence does for you because jon looked like he wasnt as confident but after this I think it will be back psychology is real everybody

You mean 9-9
WookiesYaUncle i agree but i dont carr honestly just enjoy the fights god damm it who cares who win lmao
You mean 10-10, the scoring system is a 10 point must system, meaning that at least one fighter must get a 10(not counting point deductions). Also, you can score rounds 10-10, the judges just don't like to for some reason.
@@jonathandean4935 Even in a 10 point must system, I'd have scored some 9-9 rounds in the Lewis/Ngannou fight.
I said the same thing on his weigh in. His body looked nothing like before.
"All the damaging shots went to Santos" guess Chael missed the elbow that sliced Thiago's head open.

Walker is the future LHW champ. First try. Watch.
Yeah by seeing Jones clean performances the last couple fights I'm thinking DC would have maybe beat him if Jones fought him clean.
Jon Jones only "major heel turn" was ruined to me when "American" media started catching on with "the actions" that portrayed and to this day portrays him as a "bad guy".
Ric Flair "To be the man you got to beat the man. I'm Ric Flair and you're not!" Woooooooo!
He and Benjamin Franklin coined the phrase " stylin' and profilin'!"
He defeated Santos with his own style. Jon could have chosen to use everything in his bag. Beating a man with his own style says everything
an established championship fight is a psychological trip for judges - they dont want to strip the champ in a close fight and will always make the same decision. not saying you have to KO the champ, but you have to win DECISIVELY, which Santos did not do
has anyone seen the individual scorecards yet? they usually release them.
Most ped experts who were told to look at jon's case said that what he took was not enough to be performance enhancing

Not taking PED’s anymore. But is he taking PED’s any less?
LMAOOOOOOOO imagine thinking the Thiago fight would’ve been nearly as close if Jon decided to take it to the ground. He didn’t do it because of pride like he admitted and he still won. Bunch of wishful thinking casuals in the comments thinking Jon isn’t as dangerous anymore. Sad

Yeah, but John's game will change, as his opponents do!
You have a point.
To be the man you got to beat the man - Rick Flair
It's ric, DON'T KILL ME
WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Jon Jones almost looked like he wasn’t as sharp as he usually is, even though he is a great striker he almost never got hit either
If your gonna beat Jon Jones you have to BEAT Jon Jones... don’t act like the judges aren’t biased
Believe that... you know Dana pays them to have a bias in favor of his biggest money makers.
When I saw Chael in the WEC almost 2 decades ago, I knew this guy was far above the level I was viewing in that organization. Who would have known he was arguably the most entertaining personalities I've seen in the UFC . (Dont forget, one of the best fighters ever).

if He fights like that against Ngannou he won’t make it out the first round
He wouldn't make it out of the first minute
You guys really like to compare the way he fights from one fight to another while you ignore the fact that he fights every individual differently. Just watch the Gus 2 fight where he threatened for a takedown even as early as round 1. Watch the Smith fight where he liked to keep it on the feet! He fights everyone differently. He fought Santos completely on the feet without attempting takedowns. My point is Jon will bring something different against every new opponent!
@@Anon123anon he will do something different alright, getting put to sleep would be different
@@notserious6458 I understand anything can happen, but it isn't like Jon is Luke Rockhold with a glass chin😂😂

Beside the loss. Thiago fought like a man all those fucking five rounds. Huge respect to that guy.

While not a rule, close rounds and fights defaulting to the champion is a hold over from boxing.
