I'm Japanese-American. As long as I can understand the intent of a message I will not mind how its delivered. I know that calling the first Lady "Madam First Lady" is a sign of respect.
If native English speakers like you didn't feel any harm from his tweet, what did harsh comments by many Japanese mean? They were just accusing him for the sake of accusation. It is evident that they are not true English speakers, that's why.
For me as long as the messages understood.. Great enough.. Maybe we better keep in mind that's.. ' don't judge others by our standard '..especially those whose different cultures n countries... Accept n respect should always be priorities..
No one should fault PM Suga, English being not his first language, We should not expect him to use Queen’s English, and to me, the tweet he wrote was understandable and decent.
Language is only a tool of communication as in delivering the message by the sender and understanding the context by the receiver. Grammar and such is only matters when the context is interpreted wrongly. The fact that on the receiver's side already express the understanding of the sender's intention, communication process was completed and that is the only thing that matters. We Malaysian communicate with mixed language and no one bothers to correct each other as long as it is understandable. If not, just ask to clarify. Some people are overreacting to such extend it is irritating. Don't take everything in life so serious, no one gets out alive anyway. Hah! 😋
Totally agree with you. And that's what I learned from Malaysians in your country. If I hadn't stayed in Malaysia, I would have never launched this channel, haha. Thanks!!
Hi Kecos, thank you for uploading an interesting video again :) I'm 100% with you on the first subject. Nobody on international level checks if grammar is 100% correct as long as the meaning is transmitted properly. The majority of world citizens are not native English speakers and we use it as our second language. As for Ora Ora Kei cars, i like the custom style trims of cars that also have lots of chrome. Have you seen Honda cars for the Market in China? They look very bold with dynamic chrome face. Also Toyota is selling Crown, Alphard and Vellfire there. Japanese car trend for me is smart. They customize looks for the car, but the car itself is still compact and very practical. In Germany many people buy SUV, that are very broad and have no space for proper parking, while they are inside still narrow and unpractical.
Hi, Kamuichan! Thank you as always for watching the video. We like German cars too, and they are still emblematic for successful persons. Actually, my brother in law owns Folks wargen. Its roundness design has long been attracting us for years. BTW, I uploaded this video's info at "Japan Auto Info" yesterday. Appears it is still suspended. I'd be delighted if you check it out. Thank you.

While in Malaysia, one of the most wonderful things in the country is that you built up a permissble society for anyone to expose any English regardless your proficiency. Malaysians know it is the best way to learn foreign language as well!
I'm shock about the news that pm Suga being criticism on twitter, I read the twitter that he wrote, and I can still understand what he is trying to say even though there are some word that he no need to use it. For sure as long as you understand what the people trying to say to you in "English" for me it wasn't a problem. But I'm curious why some people need to judge pm Suga English barrier? 😬 At least he show some effort that he care about others.
It is really Japanese thing to bully by finding faults with others in English. Such intimidation called peer pressure leads us to even poorer surroundings to learn forein language. It's kinda visicous circle.
@@LostinHokkaido Oooo~ That 'orraa~!'. Now I get it. Yeah, I heard that one a lot from old Yakuza movies and anime too. Along with the words 'Teme' & 'Kisama' too. Hai, wakarimasu.
This is just another case of pot calling the kettle black. Seriously, all these critics should take a look at themselves (or hear themselves) before they want to judge other people's English. The PM obviously doesn't mean any harm when he sent those well wishes, and I'm a multilingual person. The fact that English is not a widely spoken language in Japan is already common knowledge to the world. Personally, I think the Japanese only want to criticize to people that can understand their own language so that they wont feel inferior about themselves. No wonder Japan kept changing their PM every few years... EDIT: In my honest opinion, there is NOTHING wrong grammatically with his original tweet other than the "Madam" part. Totally agree. I've never felt offended when I was spoken by Non-Japanese speakes with wrong grammers. Whay really disturbing me is that some Japanese want to tease non-Japanese speakers because of grammertical erros of Japanese in spite of the fact that they don't speak any foreign language.
Lol I don't think Trump cares about how good or bad the Japanese PM's English is. "Rude" is not an issue here. I don't think any English speaker would feel offended by "wrong grammar" used by non-native English speaker (to be honest I think Trump's own English isn't that good either). These people are just complaining for the sake of complaining.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I am too afraid to inform the Japanese of my channel because they are into checking grammers rather than the content itself, haha.
PM Suga tried his tweeting skills in sending message to Trump. Obviously wrong timing as anything to do with ‘Trump’ now are closely watched and will be severely criticised. As Trump is not at all popular. Strange of why PM Office’a communication section did not screen his message before sending? Of which should be the correct protocol for all to be officially recorded.
Hi, Khaw-san. In my view, he used Google translation and just sent it without screening because it is natural expression in literal translation to Japanese language. Yes, I agree that his subbordiates would have helped him. Many politicans of that age have difficulty handling SNS except Taro Kono. He speaks English very fluently too. twitter.com/konotarogomame
