Considering some have been withdrawn since 2016 they could well be doing component recovery for all we know. But you never know what goes on at Toton. Lots of Class 60s lying idle that have been in use via DB and plenty of spares for them.
EWS brought them for a royal mail contract which they then subsequently lost a short time after and made the small fleet redundant. They have an active engine fire protection system so they get used quite often on special passenger duties. They only have 4 Tm's compared to the 66 but are quite high geared so can do up to 125 as opposed to 60-75. Most of the 67 fleet is based at crewe but brought to toton for the use of the high lifiting cranes. Looks like it has either just had the alternator removed or refitted hard to tell from that angle. I think they have the Belmond 67 at toton as well at the moment for some reason. I think it is 67024
i notice the 4 car wagons from Davies . a friend of mine incharge of all Car trains in the UK tells me they are very short of wagons. some new ones from France arrived on Tuesday, Thursday and some more arriving today, George
Your videos have been worth watching lately and seeing class 67030 even 60062 Sonia at toton hear in South Wales DB Class 66001 & DB 66653 named Barry Needham are at Margam T.C. on the steel working, old EWS livery 66158 and DB 66028 have also been seen in South Wales to. Now on Saturdays there a working from Margam T.C. to Eastleigh and it's usually 1, 2 even 4 Class 66 which could be interesting for anyone who needs numbers
Sadly agree with you 026 what a crying shame Thornaby oh and think 011 has been the longest stored I think. Remember 67018 Maple Leaf Keith Heller well as standby loco for Chiltern back in 2013/14/15.
What’s gonna happen to 67030? Nice Paul Melleney 66172 pulling that, saw that in Margam T.C., 66019 was brill moving around and unfortunately inactive shed number 66145, how long has that been in store for?
@@mickeybarrass3625 I THINK THAT SOME OF THE LOCOS EARMARKED TO BR RE GEARED THEN RENUMERED AS 666XX HAVE JUST COME OFF OF THE RHTT JOB. (RAIL HEAD TRETMENT TRAINS TO CLEAR THE LINES OF LEAVES). HENCE NOT ALL 666XX WERE DONE IN NUMERICAL ORDER.
I've not seen a 67 with it's lid off before. I fail to comprehend DB's retention on the class 60 scrap line. At one time, it made business sense (I guess), as EWS/DB would not want to sell the locos to smaller operators, as this would risk creating competition. But now, why not scrap them and boost its cashflow? Their asset value must have been fully deprecated by now. The only reason I see for retention is to provide spares for the few examples DB still has in use. But it seems a very inefficient way to store spare parts. 66789 always catches the eye. Are those shiny red 66s fresh from the washing station, or have they been through a major overhaul that included a re-paint? Thanks for sharing.
@@davidsnapebrcrosslane8782 Yeah it's towards the care home and trees mixed in with 90024 and friends. I need three at Crewe IEMD and one on the TFW circuit.
Amazing video, so nice to see these yards still exist.
Excellent camera work & quality!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Excellent video as always 👍
I got the scope!!!!!!!! All I need now is a descent pair of wellies to tackle the embankment...... Nice video and liked the 67 with the sunroof.
Very enjoyable. Hopefully I'll get to see 66657 and 658 down here in South Wales. All the best.
66789 in BR Large Logo just fits really well IMO
Very nice. Hopefully, 67030 is just getting the full works done. Hopefully it's back soon, I don't want to see 67s getting scraped anytime soon. 😊

How old are they? They don't look that old......
@markcf83 built 1999 to 2000. not that old.

Apparently it’s getting stripped for parts before scrapping
Always interesting to watch them playing at trains at Toton! Bet it was muddy on the bank
It is a big train set there 💯. Wellies were needed..!

Realistically, I would say the chances of 67030 (or any of the other long term stored 67s) being reactivated are very slim
Sadly agree with you 026 what a crying shame Thornaby oh and think 011 has been the longest stored I think. Remember 67018 Maple Leaf Keith Heller well as standby loco for Chiltern back in 2013/14/15.
Last time went to Toton on the 3rd of Jan 2025. It's very mucky & I See 66701 with some wagons but I See 66701 for the first time
Think some of those 60's have a better chance of resurrection than 67030....😄
Agreed plenty of spares for the ones that have been out of service from DB.

145 was a Frenchshed.
@RedShedNick 045 was
Thought I hadn't seen it before, that's why just didn't sound familiar
@@RedShedNick it’s been coupled to DB tugs for two years now and hasn’t moved a muscle!
Strange.
They better not be scrapping that 67, or I'll be FUMING. They've not even reached the 40 year mark yet!
Why havent the DB sheds been numbered 657 and 658, thought they may gone with the running order after 250, eg 251 and 252
Because they are being regeared as 66/6s to move heavier loads at slower speeds. Same set up as Freightliner's fleet of 66/6s
@paulkeightley6545 thank you for that Paul. I was none the wiser why.

DB has offered a number of them for sale in the last couple years, but I think there’s so far been fewer takers than locomotives
I reckon 67030 is going in the bin. Sad to think really that a locomotive built in 1999/2000 has somehow ended up in this state
Probably with 67001,009,011 and 019. Looks like 026 might see life with TFW though.
67009 is my last 67 for sight, I think it's hiding in the depths of Crewe somewhere.

How sad to see perfectly good class 60s
Doing nothing.
Filthy 66718. Could do with a lengthy wash.
more class 60 to rot away
